Yuuko Kamishiro Headcanons
omg guess who's back on their bullshit! me! with time stranger out and a bit of a digimon resurgence going on, I'm back to posting more cyber sleuth content. sure time stranger's here, but cyber sleuth will always be my favourite and you can't take it away from me :3
After her father was killed, she was passed around baby-sitter after baby-sitter. She always hated it though, so that alone was enough to force her to grow up quickly so she could spend as much time as humanly possible away from them.
With Fei. they first met in EDEN as kids before Fei had moved to Japan. This wasn't long after the beta test, so before Rie really started whittling away at Yuuko's self esteem 😭 They were basically each others first friends, and have stuck together ever since.
Fei's admiration of Yuuko runs a lot deeper than just the stuff that comes from Zaxon. She recognises Yuuko's drive and care for other people a lot more than even Yuuko herself does. She would do anything for her, and doesn't expect Yuuko to do the same for her in turn (beyond her brother, however, Fei is the person she cares about the most despite the girl not realising it).
Additionally, her Father wanted her in the school system as opposed to being privately educated, but Kishibe did NOT approve of this. You're much easier to manipulate if you don't have good connections with people!
Before Zaxon and becoming Yuugo, she spent a lot of time alone reading books, or just wandering around cyber space to feel closer to her Father.
Being Yuugo really fucked with her gender identity (unsurprisingly lol). She felt so much more respected as Yuugo, rather than as 16 year old Yuuko Kamishiro in the world of business of Kamishiro Enterprises. Her sense of self is alllllllll over the place.
Though Kishibe manipulated her into masquerading as Yuugo and all the Under Zero stuff, she would've found her own way into the hacking scene before long. With the corruption in the company and people constantly vying for her position, she would've come to the realisation that she couldn't further her father's legacy while under such scrutiny. Doing things under the radar with hackers would always have been both safer and more effective for her.
Her father would have encouraged hackers; not the ones who destroy peoples accounts and such, but the ones like Nokia whose ideals are driven by empathy. It's why as Yuugo she tries so hard to keep the rebels out of Under Zero raid, because she doesn't want them to get implicated and hurt by something she feels is her responsibility.
Her guilt over Yuugo—before having her memories returned, that is—manifests as her need to fulfil her father's legacy and make EDEN a safe place. EDEN has felt so far away from that ever since the beta test and, unconsciously, she doesn't want what happened to Yuugo to happen to anyone else.
On that, her guilt is the least personally destructive of any of her friends; Arata isolates, Nokia freezes up, and Ami is horrifically self-sacrificial. Yuuko, however, just deeply desires to make things better for everyone, and doesn't want to sacrifice her own
