^^ Words of wisdom ^^
It’s okay if you didn’t get out of bed, it’s okay if you didn’t do all the stuff you had to do. You did it great today, you survived.
I have my first ever therapy session in two days and I’m so so so nervous,,, I don’t know what to expect at all and I don’t know if I should open up completely or just a little bit
Hey, don’t be nervous! This is so amazing, I’m proud of you. I would say go in there with an open mind because sometimes I think people can have this mentality that nothing is going to help them and they aren’t open enough to therapy for it to actually work. So #1 I would tell you to be optimistic. Therapy is not a cure all but it did help me greatly. In terms of what to expect, I think it is what you make it. You can choose that time to discuss anything you want to discuss. You can use your time to ask for strategies, you can vent or release some stresses you’ve been worrying about or ask for advice etc. The time you have is really yours to do what you want with it. I imagine for your first appointment they will probably ask you some questions to get to know you better and guide you; help you understand what therapy is all about. In terms of opening up- Open up as much as you feel comfortable with. If therapy is something you want to be recurring there is no rush, you’ll have time to talk about everything you want at the pace you are comfortable with.
I find it really helpful to open up my notes app in my iphone and write down things that are affecting me during the week that I might want to talk about during my session. Example, maybe I had a panic attack that week and I want to know some ways it could have been prevented and what to do next time in that circumstance. It’s easy to lose track sometimes so when I write down points I want to discuss that makes it easier for me. (Sometimes I sit down and forget everything I wanted to discuss lol).
Good luck! I think this will be really good for you:) I formed a great bond with my psychologist and she has really helped me plan out my life and come up with strategies for my anxiety. I wish you the best. xoxo

I just got out of a long term mental health facility after 6 weeks and I feel the kind of feeling you have when you finish a good book; confused and empty. How do I cope with real life again?
I like the analogy you used. That if feels like you have finished a good book, except you haven’t. You’ve turned a page and come to the beginning of a new chapter that might be even better than the last. I totally understand why that may be daunting though. From my understanding your day was probably very structured and planned and now you are forced to be independent. With anything time is going to play a huge role. You can’t expect yourself to adjust to this change right away, slowly but surely you’ll get back into your own routine and it won’t seem so difficult anymore. If you miss the structure maybe write out a plan of what you can do in a day. If you did mindfulness or relaxation time this can translate into your home routine as well. You don’t need to be strict on this but if it helps it’s worth a try. Remember to have a good support system and ask for help when you need it. You may not be surrounded by other people anymore but you are never alone. There is no reason why you’re journey to getting better needs to stop, let’s keep pushing ahead! (At a pace you’re comfortable with). Your family and friends I’m sure will be there to support you, take your time and once you’re ready try and get out there and push yourself to do every things. Then gradually push yourself to do things that challenge your anxiety. Hopefully I was able to help a little and if you ever need feel free to come chat! xoxo

Hello! I have severe social anxiety and i was doing good in college but one of my classrooms moved to another building and we would have to re choose seats so i stopped going to college all together. Im having a really hard getting back into it. I don't know what to do :(
First of all it is AMAZING that you have been attending college so far. Absolutely incredible, okay? Take a moment to acknowledge all the effort and perseverance on your account so far. That alone aspires me, (as someone who also has bad anxiety and has kind of been floating since high school with the fear of college and further education).
The fact that you have been forced to move buildings and change seats and this in turn spiked your anxiety, does not at all surprise me. Anxiety usually starts to fade when we grow comfortable with a situation. You grew comfortable with your surroundings and now your sense of security has been taken away. You are exposed to new territory. New is scary. Change is scary. Our anxiety makes us fear these things even though there is no logical reason to. This probably isn’t what you want to hear but the longer you stay away from college the harder it will be to get yourself to go back. I know this first hand. Leaving school for awhile causes added stress and anxiety and it becomes hard to keep up on work loads.
So how do we get rid of your anxiety? Another thing you won’t want to hear.
You have got to face this head on. Exposure therapy works and it is so so scary I know, but in time you are going to gain that same sense of security. Your body is going to realize there is nothing to fear. You are going to reach the same level of comfort you had with your old seating arrangement and everything will be fine I promise. Remind yourself there is nothing to fear. Be proud of yourself every day that you get up and go to school and know that this anxiety will fade. Good luck!

I love myself. I know I’m a work in progress. I’ll become who I’m working towards one day.
Affirmation of the day. (via riffatmatinpoetry)
I’m proud of you for making it through another day.
there’s no need to apologise for expressing your feelings. you deserve to take up space. your emotions are important.
as much as the world fails you, never regret having a good heart.
i don’t need to find the one just yet. i’m too busy falling back in love with life.
Hi .-. I’m sorry to bother you. I would like some advice .-. I’m 22 and have already lost 3 jobs due to ADD. And everyone keeps asking why I don’t work and everyone considers me lazy because I don’t. :,( I hate myself for losing my job every single day and question what I did so wrong. And now my depression has consumed me. I can’t get up to shower, eat, or barely even use the bathroom. Sometimes I go 4 days without eating. And I just want my life to end. I’m sorry for being so negative 😢
Don’t be sorry! Sometimes it’s totally okay to let out your fears to someone who will listen. A couple questions to take into mind: have you seen a doctor? are you taking medication? do you have support from friends and family? These may be some things to look into. The more help and support you get, the easier this will be for you. Don’t be embarrassed.
If you feel like ending your life is the only option, please take a second to call a hotline in your area to talk things out. Trust me, it’ll be much better for you in the long run.

its not a mental illness but the thing I struggle with the most are chronic headaches. they're not piercing like a migraine or anything, but I've had one headache for as long as I can remember. I've never not had this headache. Most days I can push through the pain That wears me down, though, and eventually I just want to lay in bed and cry. One thing that helps is making sure I take time to feel the pain before it overwhelms me. Instead of always being strong until I crash. hope this helps :)
Thank you for the advice! I suffer from migraines too and I practice this as well. I find it helps not to necessarily push the pain away or ignore it, but to realize it’s there and probably won’t be going away any time soon and what I can do to manage it.
*sorry if this was posted a bit late, I haven’t been keeping up with the posts as much as I would like :< I’ll try harder!
