Taking a step away from illustration and doing a 3D modeling project.
My university got a grant for a 3D printer and scanner so weāre utilizing the two for this summerās special workshop class.
We started by making a physical model to act as our base. My sculpture shown in the first three pictures was made using armature wire, a straw, and oil-based clay. It stands roughly 12 inches tall from tip of hat to foot.
We then scanned it and made OBJ and STL files from the scan. Itās nowhere near perfect. There are weird artifacts and stuff I need to clean up still, but this was only meant to get us started in the software. Now I have to give myself a crash course in Blender/Sculptris to clean her up.
Other Platforms Iām On
First of all I just want to extend late thank you to all the new followers! I really appreciate the support.
I wanted to make this post to give you guys a heads up about where else you can find me if Tumblr isnāt really your preference.
Main Tumblr: Where I reblog stuff that inspires me or makes me laugh. Iāll never post art directly there. Will always reblog my art from here.
Twitter: Artwork, WIPs, and who knows what else. Iām a Twitter noob and am trying to figure it out.
FurAffinity: Just an additional platform to post my work.
Iāll donāt see myself using Facebook or Instagram for the foreseeable future due to their scummy business practices.
This will be one of the very few times I make a post like this on this blog. This blog is mainly for art, but Iāll make announcements here if I feel they are warranted.
Thanks again for the follows and hope you enjoy what I come up with in the future!
Final Fantasy IX Poster design created for one of my classes using Adobe Illustrator and Affinity Designer. Details of the creation process can be found on my portfolio site here.
Random dragon head illustration for class. Top is the original. The other is an experiment with emulating the old glitchy CRT appearance.
Classwork. Another collage assignment. Inspired by the songĀ āGod Save the Foolish Kingsā by House of Heroes. Below are links to the photos I used.

Classwork for the Digital Painting Workshop. Not as finished as I would like for it to be but time was limited. The theme was video games and we had to tie in something from the 80s into it. I chose to recreate the Japanese version of the poster from Godzilla 1985 and replace Godzilla with Bahamut from Final Fantasy XIV.Ā
The text in the middle translates roughly intoĀ āThe Dragon King is a big and thick boy!ā. That was the result of a conversation on our class Slack group where we started calling Bahamut āB I G T H I C C B O Y Eā. My instructor said he would be disappointed if that didnāt make it onto the poster in some form.Ā
Classwork for a special workshop in digital painting. Assignment was to make a self-portrait but to go nuts with it. I wanted to draw myself as a possum playing guitar (because I actually play guitar). Kinda rushed because Iām bad at waiting until the last minute to do stuff, but I thought it came out alright.Ā
Classwork...again. This one was also rushed but not as bad as the last one. I think this was inspired my the music I was listening to at the time. Not much more to say about it. I will say this was the first time in a long time I was satisfied with my artwork.
Classwork for one of my drawing classes. Not particularly proud of this one because I had to do it in a hurry (Iām thinking 3-4 hours the night before I had to turn it in) plus I was going through a kind of art identity crisis at the time, but itās something I can post. Heavily inspired by Spyro.
Classwork. Assignment was to create a collage either traditionally or digitally. Took some free stock photos, meshed them together in Photoshop, and came up with this. The geometric lines and shapes were done in Illustrator.
More classwork. The assignment was to create fictional sports team branding and uniforms for any existing content. I decided to make football teams for some of the towns in Skyrim. The colors were based on each cityās banners in the game. The team names actually came from the developer notes from The Elder Scrolls: Arena ( released in 1994) where almost every town or city in Tamriel had an arena team. I took some creative liberties with Falkreathās name however. Changed it fromĀ āThe Dark Shadowsā toĀ āShadesā
Done for one of my classes. The assignment was to choose a video game, make alternative box art for the original console it launched on, and make a variation of that box art for a different console of my choosing. The only limitation was I had to recreate all the back cover information in Illustrator (legal info, the little logos for the number of players and such, and other copy). I didnāt have to recreate any of the company logos unless I couldnāt find them online. I was free to use whatever program I wanted for the rest of the design elements.
