Today In 1904: Cy Young Pitches A Perfect Game! ⚾ Huntington Avenue Baseball Grounds, Boston (May 5, 1904) ~ It would be the first perfect game in American League history, and the first in MLB since the mound was moved to 60'6" in 1893. 37 yr-old Cy, pitching for the Boston Americans (later renamed Red Sox), would defeat Rube Waddell and the Philadelphia Athletics by a score of 3-0.

Today In 1963: Sandy Koufax No-Hits The San Francisco Giants ⚾ Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles - May 11, 1963 ~ It was 53 years ago today that Sandy pitched the 2nd of his four career no-hitters for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He’d also throw one in 1964 and 1965, the last one being a perfect game vs. the Chicago Cubs.
