New Theme - Gradior
Gradior is a very social theme, with its sidebar widgets you can integrate Twitter, Instagram, Flickr, Soundcloud, Dribbble, Youtube, Vimeo and Last.fm. As with any PÊB theme it's packed with appearance options, perfect for any blog.
You can check out all of Gradior's options here and more info about it here.
Presenting Alcyone
Alcyone is an adaptable horizontally-scrolling theme. It works with a sidebar or a header and comes chock full of options to customise its appearance. You can check out all of the options here, and download Alcyone here.
Presenting Craticula
Craticula is Generation 4's flagship theme. It's multi-columned (if you want) and has a header (if you want); but with over 100 appearance options Craticula can be anything you want.
Some of its special features are the 7 different photoset layouts, which can be assigned with tags or as an option across your whole blog, and the 13 ways overlay permalinks can be animated. So many great options, you can check them all out here.
I'm so glad to announce Generation 4 of Pour Être Belle Themes is live!
For the last 3 months I've been labouring hard on a new way to make tumblr themes, and I'm excited to show you the first 2 themes to come out of that effort, along with a sweet new website and blog.
You can click here for more info on what this regeneration means for me, the future and the past.
Over the next few days I'll be presenting the new themes on this blog (it'll be like they're debutantes. cute.), but please feel free to check them out right now. This blog's already using Craticula and it looks very gorgeous.
p.s. I commit to releasing one theme a week for 2 months (alternating between free & premium)
p.p.s. If you've bought a premium theme before you can get a 50% discount on the new ones
Here are some screenshots from the NEW Pour Être Belle Themes. It will be live some time in the next two weeks!
Finally! We'll be launching fresh with 2 epic themes (one premium grid-style, the other a free horizontal theme), and 2 more will be released within the month of January.
Sign up to our newsletter to be the first to know when Generation 4 is launched.
If you've previously bought a Generation 3 theme (as in Elphinstone, Broderick, Cygnus or Celestina) you'll be eligible for a 50% discount on the new ones :)
What do you look for in a tumblr theme?
In the next couple of months I'll be working full-time on Pour Être Belle Themes (yes, you read correctly, full time). I'll be relaunching the site with a brand new roster of up-to-date, creative, customizable themes soon, but before I get started building I want to know what you'd like to see in them.
Are creative display options your priority? Brandability? Customizability? Simplicity? Is there anything specific you want to see in a theme?
(feel free to email me at [email protected] if you want to go into depth, I'd be happy to hear your opinions)
New Theme - Daeron
Daeron is that theme that everybody wants which I had yet to make. It's a pretty plain multi-column theme; you can pick the amount columns, the post size and the margins between them (yes photosets, videos and images fit perfectly at any size), you can also hide the text permalink and link the images directly to it.
New Theme - Artemisia
Artemisia is Quirinius' smart sister; an infinitely-scrolling horizontal theme.
The most difficult problem to overcome with horizontal themes is where to put the post captions. This theme solves that by making an overlay on media posts with permalink information and captions as well as a zoom icon so you can lightbox the content - photosets, videos and high resolution photos all work stunningly.
As usual it comes with a bounty of options - you can set the post's height, margin, header margin, fix and unfix the header and the footer, twitter, and plenty of images and color appearance options.
New Theme - Heliotrope
Heliotrope is a cute columned theme with three post size options (400/500/700px). One cool feature is the date flag which sticks to the top of the page when you scroll down. There are also two header displays (toggled with the 'stretch header' option) - this one with links and twitter aligned with the flag column and the stretched version as seen on the demo. You can also swap the permalink to the other side, change the space between items and colours, fonts, images ect.
Welcome to the new home of Pour Être Belle Themes. I'm proud to present a new interface and updated (and one new) themes to match. The updates have mostly been back-end scripty things but here are some of the more significant changes:
Araminta - no premium version (see here), no need to chose the 'width', theme will appropriate chose image size automatically
Broderick - SO MUCH BETTER. you can choose however many columns, post width and post margin, foldover on text posts, like and reblog buttons, expanded posts (by a featured tag or one or more posts every page iteration, e.g. posts 6 and 11 are double width)
Celestina - all new so there's lots to look at. check out the coloured posts
Cygnus - new Instagram widget. you can now choose any post width, sidebar width, post and sidebar margins. temporarily removed the 'description open on load' but will put that back in soon
Elphinstone - mostly backend and small fixes but worth a reinstall
Mnemone - no premium version (see here) but the feature for an expanded post tag has leaked into the new version
Quirinius - SO MUCH BETTER. dodgy animation has been fixed, you can show the captions of photo posts, posts can be any height, video aspect ratio fixed, and motherclucking photosets! that actually fit!
Public Service Announcement
Since the theme garden has been remade it's much more user-friendly so I'm going to take advantage of that and upload all my free themes. I'm currently in the midst of bringing my premium themes up to scratch (above is a snapshot of the new Broderick), and I'm anxious to release Celestina when the site launches), and redesigning the theme site, which will showcase all the themes - premium, free and legacy (some of the old old things that for some reason people fawn over (yes that includes Belle but not Callidora)). A couple of things to bare in mind -
I regret to announce that the premium versions of Araminta and Mnemone will not be featured on the new site, but for people that have purchased these there'll be a chance to convert your purchase to any of the other premium themes for free, more info when the time comes
All the premium and free themes are being updated, so I suggest you reinstall them at the launch if you use one. The free version of premium themes will be called '~~ Basic', so look out for for 'Elphinstone Basic' ect. rather than free version
I'll be making Basic versions of Broderick and Celestina
The new site won't have a discussion area for themes but instead a more thorough 'frequently asked questions'
I'm personally torn between working flat out on these theme things and on my new Jewellery Collection, but expect these changes in the next fortnight.
New Theme - Elphinstone
This is the best theme I have ever made by a long shot. It's a full width columned theme with over 60 appearance options on the premium version. You can choose the amount of columns and how far apart they are for a completely customizable interface, and it's responsive. It even works with the new Spotify embeds!! Click through for a live preview. (premium version is £3 and by far superior, I'd really appreciate if you support me on this one because it's more than worth it)
I stopped working on this theme a couple of months ago because even though I really liked it it was missing something for ultimate customisability and so I backburnered it. But then the other day a solution for one of css's biggest problems (a fixed margin for percentage-width columns iywtk) popped into my head and I started working on it again as a full width theme (try resizing the page); so when it's finished you'll be able to choose the number of columns and the gap between them. Hopefully finishing in the next couple of days. There will be a premium and free version, and I'll recommend the premium for £3(?)
I have very few commitments for the next 5 months since my course has finished so I'll be getting down to some hardcore themeing, but today I thought the site doesn't really live up to its content so I've rehauled the user interface making it easier to see a theme's usp and download options. Please give me feedback on this if you don't like it (I know the alternating sides is a bit distracting but I'm finding it really refreshing). More themes coming soon!
Remember Callidora? And how I took it away and made it into a premium theme so way fewer people use it?
Well not anymore.
Now there are two versions of Cygnus (and the premium one has had some bug fixes). I'd obviously prefer if you bought the premium version but if you want something similar to Callidora without the £4 price tag and some awesome features, the free version of Cygnus is for you!
I quite like the idea of having a premium and a free version of each of my themes so look forward to more of this type thing.
New Theme - Mnemone
Randomly Generated interface - you can choose the size of posts and their gutter as well as a featured tag for enlarged posts. I use a variation on my own tumblr.
