“Point Park University will host the Prague Writers’ Festival in Pittsburgh, October 18-19, 2013. The event will feature international writers, poets, historians and journalists.

The Writers' Festival takes place annually each spring in Prague. The precursor to the Prague Writers' Festival was founded by American poet Michael March and originally focused on poetry readings. Since then it has expanded in its scope, featuring international writers and many genres. Past participants have included Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Salman Rushdie, Irvine Welsh, William Styron, Derek Walcott and Nadine Gordimer.” [i]

Pittsburgh was chosen as host for the festival to bring a new audience to the PWF and also in light of the Pittsburgh Agreement, signed here in 1918, creating the new Czech state. A panel discussion will be offered on this historic event on October 18.

This year’s festival includes authors E.L. Doctorow, Anita Desai, Eda Kriseova, Tomas Sedlacek, and Hamdy El-Gazzar. For a full list of events, and to register, go here. And check out a book by one (or more) of these authors today!
