Henry was finally beginning to feel less discomforted and more pleasure, he released a small moan, and he was feeling more prepared now. He pulled the male’s head back slightly so he could press their lips together again briefly before he pulled away and looked up at him. He loved Gabriel, and there was nobody else he wanted to do this with. “I’m ready.”

Gabriel sighed happily into the kiss, and when Henry said he was ready, Gabriel nodded. “You say the word and I stop if anything hurts, okay?” He pressed one more kiss to Henry’s lips before pushing into him slowly with a low groan. It felt so good, Henry felt so tight. But he wasn’t going to start moving until Henry adjusted.

Henry liked holding the male, he wanted to give himself as much of a sense of security as he could. He kept his hold on him tight, but not too tight. Henry didn’t want him to think thanking him was necessary, because it wasn’t. He wanted to be there for Gabriel in every way possible. He shook his head, placing a gentle kiss on top of the male’s head. “Don’t thank me,” he whispered. “I want to do this for you, I like being there for you.”

Gabriel’s breathing steadied as he rested himself against Henry. Gabriel had never had something in the way of a real “home”. But here? Curled up against Henry? This was the closest thing to home he had ever felt. And despite the fact that he just woke up from a horrific nightmare, he was starting to feel comfortable again. “It just means a lot. I can’t...put it into words.”

It was early in the morning the day after the ball. Bao had decided to head down to the castle’s pool, hoping that it wouldn’t be too busy. She wanted to get some laps in while most of the mansion was sleeping off the night before. She was happy to see that it wasn’t busy at all. In fact, there was just one other person in the pool. “Hey” she called out, dropping her towel on a chair. “Do you mind if I join you?”

Gabriel hadn’t been swimming in years and decided it was about time he took a dip. He was pretty thrilled to see that he had the whole thing to himself, but also wasn’t disappointed when someone else came by. “By all means,” he said with a smile.

Seeing Gabriel like this broke his heart, he wanted him to be happy. He wanted Gabriel to know that he was safe and that there was nothing he had to hide from him. He never wanted to see him cry, he loved this man. Henry believed gentleness and reassurance were the proper approaches for this. Henry’s heart fluttered in his chest at those words, he had wanted to hear those words from him for so long. “I love you too,” he whispered. 

Gabriel Praelia allowed himself, for once in his almost three hundred years, to be vulnerable. He curled himself into Henry, keeping him close and letting the sound of his heartbeat steady him. He couldn’t believe he had gotten so lucky with this man. The love of his life. “Thank you,” he said softly. For comforting me. For loving me.

Henry was unsure of what to say to him, he would never know what Gabriel endured in that place, he could never understand him like his family did, but he could try to be there for him. “I’m sorry,” he says softly. He was slow and cautious as he moved to wrap his arms around the male, wanting to give him a sense of security. “Nobody is going to hurt you, Gabriel. You’re safe here with me, and I’m gonna protect you. Okay? They’re not going to hurt you ever again.” Henry shook his head, placing a gentle kiss against his cheek. “You don’t need to apologize for anything. Not to me, or anybody else.”

Back in the institution, breaking down like this would have earned him even worse punishment. Instead, Henry met him with something he didn’t expect: kindness. When Henry wrapped his arms around him, he felt an overwhelming sense of safety. Tears still fell down his cheeks, but when Henry held him, kissed him, told him that he was going to be safe, Gabriel believed him. He looked to his fiance with wide eyes and said the only words he could articulate as a sudden realization hit him like a train. “I love you.”

Henry was a relatively light sleeper, he was startled awake by Gabriel’s shout. He immediately sat up, eyeing the male carefully. He could tell Gabriel wasn’t okay, and all he wanted to do was make him feel better. “Gabriel?” he asks softly, scooting slightly closer to the male. His hand shook slightly as he reached out towards him, his hand resting against the male’s cheek. “Gabriel,” he says again, his gaze refusing to leave the male.

Gabriel knew Henry was worried about him. He tried to steady his breathing. “Nightmare,” he said, trying to keep the stinging tears from falling. He did not want Henry to see hm cry. “About...where I was.” He was still hyperventilating a little, but Henry’s touch helped. “’m sorry,” he mumbled.

At least he wasn’t the only one who wanted to get out of there. Henry smiled and nodded. “Dance with the best fiance in the world? I think that sounds like a wonderful idea.”

“You flatter me,” Gabriel chuckled as he brought Henry onto the dance floor. “I’m warning you now, I can’t dance. So I will not be offended in the slightest if you laugh at me.”

Henry felt at home in Gabriel’s arms, he was relaxed in them because he knew he was safe, and he found it easy to fall asleep with the male holding him.

He hadn’t been sleeping for too long when he fell into a familiar nightmare. Chains, bruises, broken bones that healed quickly all to be broken again. He was starving, so starving. He was being punished because one of the others had done something and the guards thought he knew something. Even if he did, which he didn’t, he would never tell them. But his actual innocence meant nothing as he was pumped full of vervain, the scorching pain making him scream out while the guards just laughed. 

In bed, he was restless, muttering no, no, no...until he bolted up and shouted “STOP!” He hugged his knees to his chest and let out shuddering breaths.

Henry gave him a grin, sighing happily as Gabriel’s thumb brushed against his cheek. “I wish we didn’t have to come to this stupid ball. I’d rather be with just you instead of all of these people.”

Gabriel smiled at his fiance. “Trust me. I can’t wait to get out of this thing and just relax with you. That’s going to be so nice you have no idea. Still, we should have fun while we’re here. So...dance with me?”

He knew Gabriel was right, the sex was going to be incredible, and he couldn’t wait for that. Henry craned his head back, wanting to give Gabriel as much access to his throat as possible. His hand remained tightly grasping the male’s hair and he gave a small nod at his words. “Okay,” he said quietly as he still allowed himself to adjust to the feeling of being stretched out,

Gabriel continued to stretch Henry out, scissoring the fingers inside of the younger male. He didn’t want to rush things because it would hurt Henry, and that was the last thing he wanted. So he continued to kiss and nip at his neck, trying to bring him pleasure along with the adjustment.

“Of course I forgive you, Gabriel. You’re really good at this already, I promise. You should just learn to believe me when I tell you I’m scary if I have a hangover.”

Gabriel smiled and pressed a kiss to Henry’s lips. “Alright, fair enough.  I will take your word for it.” He rubbed his thumb against Henry’s cheek and grinned fondly at him.

Henry couldn’t help but smile into the kiss, Gabriel made him happier than anybody else ever did. He rolled his eyes at his fiance’s words, emitting an amused chuckle. “It doesn’t work like that. You can’t tell me you’re gonna be terrified, silly.”

Gabriel just laughed at Henry’s words. “Right, of course Silly me. You have to forgive me, I’m still new to...all of this.”

Henry shook his head at Gabriel’s words, pouting slightly. “Come on. You could have at least pretended like I was intimidating for a second,” he said.

Gabriel kissed Henry’s pout. “I’m sorry. Next time I’ll act absolutely terrified to make up for it.”

“You’d be pretty surprised at how vicious I can be when I’m not feeling well. I always advise caution around me, then,” he spoke, quite serious. “I’m like… The Hulk. You wouldn’t like me when I’m hungover.” He loved Gabriel, he liked being able to talk to him like this and just be himself around someone. 

Gabriel laughed at that comparison. “Okay I know that was meant to like, scare me away from that. But the mae of you being a tiny hulk is pretty fucking adorable.” He had a mental image of Henry trying to push against his hand while Gabriel held him at arms length.

Henry nodded as he explained he didn’t get drunk, the witch figured as much. “That’s okay, I don’t think getting drunk alone would really be much fun. I don’t mind having a couple of drinks, but I don’t wanna get trashed,” he said with a shrug. “Plus, I’d probably end up with a nasty hangover and I wouldn’t be very pleasant in the morning. We don’t want that.”

“Fair point,” Gabriel said with a chuckle before taking a drink. “I don’t believe you have a nasty bone in your body, Henry Bishop. And I won’t believe it until I see it.” Gabriel thought the world of his fiance, the young man who took a bitter, sad hybrid and made him...warm again.

Henry could stay there kissing Gabriel all night and be perfectly content, he loved kissing his fiance. “You always make me happy, Gabriel,” he said, smiling. “If you want to drink, we could do that. I could use a drink right about now.”

“Awesome,” Gabriel smiled as he grabbed each of them a flute of champagne. “Now, I don’t really get drunk. Metabolism and all that. But don’t feel limited. If I have to carry that pretty ass of yours back to my room tonight, I’ll do it without complaint,” he teased.

“I don’t know, I think I’d have a hard time staying focused if you do that,” he said, leaning in to give him a gentle kiss. Henry shook his head, smiling at him. “That’s definitely not your job as my fiance, as much as I appreciate it.”

Gabriel chuckled into the kiss. It just felt good to be here with the man that he loved. “I think it’s part of my job, at least. The making you happy part. Now, we could go dancing. But I’m feeling some drinks right now.”
