tsukeyakiba:
I totally feel you on that one–I’m not much of a party animal, myself… I’ve only ever partied with the other saniwa, but before that? Nope.
I think a lot of us are kind of introverted, now that I think about it…
I admit, I was very secluded throughout most of my life... so being around so many people is quite the experience.
I am determined to socialize, though! Making allies—friends—is an important part of being a good leader.
lonelyrollinstar liked your post:[Pours himself another drink.]
Um–hi? It’s nice to finally meet you, Kikue-san. I’m Minami Yuu, another saniwa. One of Hanabi’s friends…
It’s nice to meet you too!
[She offers a polite head dip!]
I admit, it’s my first time being at a party like this, but I’m very glad I’m here. I wouldn’t want to be a hermit...
She’s just kinda... standing in the corner. Sipping her water. Gee.
Wait wait wait!!
@praesideo
You guys, this is Kikue-chan! She’s another saniwa, she’s kinda new!
(So help her her friends and her other friends will be friends.)
Eep!
...
...?
flow-or-crash:
(Oh god. How to answer that.)
Ah, it’s been busy! Training as usual, trying to plan the party at the same time as work. But it’s worth it, I feel.
So what kinda stuff have you learned? Just stabilizing it? Anything special?
–Oh, can I get you a drink? Anything?
I see! And yea, the party looks very nice!
As for what I’ve learned, a little bit of both! You’d be surprised how effective fictional sources on the matter would be.
[She is, of course, referring to Avatar: The Last Airbender.]
Ah… What sort of drinks do you have?
flow-or-crash:
Same to you! Thank you for coming, I’m excited, too! How’ve you been since I saw you?
Nice job on the makeup, by the way!
Th-thank you!
[She’s blush... she gently brings a hand to her mouth, glancing away.]
I’ve been well! I’m in the process of learning how to more efficiently control my powers over fire. It’s been going smoothly.
What about you?
flow-or-crash:
(The tinkle of artificial gems precedes the door sliding open.)
Kikue-chan, you made it!! C’mon in, welcome!
Hanabi! It’s very nice to see you!
[She enters, giving Hanabi a big smile!]
Thank you for hosting this party! I’m very excited.
[It’d be an understatement to say that Kikue is nervous, but she’s all dressed up! She can’t just not attend, especially after Hanabi had set everything up... Besides, she was already there.]
[Taking a deep breath, she straightens her bow and gently knocks on the door.]
ah yes.........halloween icons......
halloween costume! she’s ready to go
(If you have a Kasen, then you'll recognize the handwriting on the card: A Halloween gathering for all the saniwa-- that is, all of the saniwa-- is set for the eve of the 27th, in Niigata Citadel. Food! Games! Drinks! Horrors! Costumes optional but encouraged! Guest rooms are available should anyone be too inebriated to time travel! Guests are not limited, but do be mindful.)
She doesn’t have a Kasen! Yet.
Hmm! She’s a little skittish, and even more worried about accidentally setting things on fire, but maybe... MAYBE... She’ll enjoy herself. If not, at least she can say she went.
(There’s a package for you! It’s a small box of bat-shaped chocolate cookies and an invitation from Hanabi!)
Ooooh! Cookies! She gently munches while she reads the invitation.
A party? She hadn’t been invited to a Halloween party... ever. And all the saniwa would be there? Goodness... What would she wear? She wasn’t ever the best with costumes... Wait, was it even a costume party? She’d have to ask Hanabi later... Hum...
flow-or-crash:
(That answer has her a little nervous, as if Kikue’s rethinking her previous statement, but she’s surprised by the offer. Elated, even.)
–Sure! Of course! I train with my superiors sometimes and my secretary, Tonbokiri, but he’s mostly guiding me through mindfulness and meditation afterwards. I take care of the body, nnnnnot so much the mind.
Besides, it’ll be good to learn how to counter each other. I use a spear, do you use just swords?
By and large, yes. I’ve been on and off practicing wielding dual blades as well.
I-I would warn you though— There are some sorts of people where, no matter how hard they try, meditation simply does not work. If you find this to be the case for you, I would recommend not dwelling on it and instead find ways to work around cluttered thoughts.
[...She speaks from experience, given her expression.]
flow-or-crash:
(She really holds her with such high esteem…! Kikue, you gift from the gods. She lets go, she probably shouldn’t have done that.)
Sorry– I’m glad you think of me like that! I really am, it’s… kind of a sore spot.
(Oh god. Unprompted positive reinforcement. What to do with that information. Thank the gods she isn’t in one of her Moods, she’s not rejecting it wholesale.)
I’m not exactly the best saniwa, I’m not that dumb but I’m more brawn than brain and not much of a homebody, either. And I tend to learn through trial and error, which… I mean,
can’t exactly do that when you’re playing with actual lives.
I have. So many omamori, Kikue-chan. So many.
Ah... I see.
[She has her thinking face on, now that she’s recovered from the initial shock.]
Hanabi, would you like to train together sometime? I’m a very by-the-books learner, so if we put our respective knowledge and techniques together, we’ll surely be able to grow.
flow-or-crash:
Ah, got it. That makes…. sense….
(She stares at Kikue in shock, the room falling dead silent. One could swear there was a chorus of angels behind her as she reaches across the table– and her cup of tea– to tightly grip Kikue’s shoulders.)
Same.
R-really...? But you always seem so capable, Hanabi.
[Confused blinking?? Why is she holding her shoulders.]
