“ Would you enlighten me on what you are doing exactly? ”
“Why don’t you enlighten me first?” Wait, shit, no, that came out wrong.
”Reading a book... I’m pretending to read this book. I’m looking like I’m reading this book, but I’m not.” Stupid illiteracy. “Color yourself enlightened.”
“ It’s not that there is anything wrong with it. I am just allergic is all, ” Those words slip past parted lips, a lie Araquiel oftentimes told to hide his ghoul identity.
“ But, you see, I have been hearing good things about this drink, so I was wondering if you could show me how you make it. ” Cue the pause followed by the quiet, “ I’m a bartender, too. ”
“You’re what.” The words implied that it should have been a question, but his voice was flat enough to make it into a statement. There was a part of Judal that was sorely tempted to deny the request, solely on the basis that he had caused him a minor inconvenience by having the bartender make him a drink he had no intention on consuming.
Subtly reaching over to slide the glass closer- because if this guy wasn’t going to drink it, Judal sure as hell wasn’t going to let it go to waste- he took a quick glance around. The building was pretty empty; nothing else better to do than entertain this weirdo, he supposed.
”Alright, fine. Get back here.”

“ I’m afraid I can’t drink that. ”
“Oh really?” Good god, does he hate these kinds of customers, the picky bastards. “Why, what’s wrong with it?”
“There isn’t any reason to take my phone, you asshole!” Dear god, this wasn’t good, at all. In fact, this was possibly the worst thing that could possibly happen to him right now. “It’s just some guy. Goddamn, don’t ask questions, and give me my phone back.”
“I’m looking at the reason right now.” Judal chirped with a pointed stare, his grin wide and mocking.
“Hey, hey, if you don’t know the guy, then why does he have some sort of special nickname in your phone?” It didn’t take a genius to figure out just how much Judal was enjoying himself. “That doesn’t sound like some guy to me~”
There goes his phone, snagged right out of his hand in the middle of texting Shuu, or Corazon as is stated in said object. And, it doesn’t take long for him to let out a scream in response either.
“Wh-… What the hell!?”
“What the hell is right!” He chirped, holding the phone high up above his head but not so high as to render the screen unreadable. “Hey, who are you talking to? What’s up with the nickname, hmm~?”

If you don’t think he’s going to steal his brother’s phone at the first available opportunity, you are dead wrong.
Revenge. Revenge is sweet.
God damn. What was it about this ghoul that managed to bring up a tremolo in his chest? Kanae was sure that question was something Shuu would have said, or thought, in a situation like this, which made him feel immensely embarrassed by the ridiculous hammering in his chest.
Judal had been smiling more around him as of late, and he honestly believed it was something he could get used to. It wasn’t that bad, having the company of someone other than his own twin at times. In fact, Kanae actually had a desire to spend more time with Judal as ridiculous as it was.
This idiot had done something to make him care, and he was more than ready to punch him in the face for it. Though, of course, he’d refrain. There was no point in hurting someone one obviously cared about.
Nothing good ever came out of that anyways.
“Harsh or not, I don’t care,” is what is said in reply to the first statement, gaze quickly being averted as a way to avoid any and all eye contact shortly afterwards. “You’re also important in your own way, too. For me, it’s just–… I honestly don’t know how to word it, expressing myself like this isn’t really my strong point.” Pause, “And, whether or not you end up being flattered is up to you.”
Hands release their hold on Judal’s face and are dropped to Kanae’s lap. Then he’s readjusting himself so he’s back to leaning against the back of the couch. “You would be an idiot if you didn’t recognize you were important to at least someone.”
“Eh, save your breath. You know, if you don’t want to explain it.” He tried to come off as casual as he possibly could, though it was difficult. He was wading through unfamiliar waters when he barely knew how to swim, knowing that he had to pick his words carefully but not having the slightest clue what was right and what was wrong. No one had ever tried to prepare him for this; no one had ever thought it was necessary to prepare him for this, and now the ghoul wasn’t sure what to do- or say, for that matter. It was all new to him.
Still, it was obvious something had upset Kanae; he wasn’t unobservant, after all, at least not when he wanted to be. “Well, yeah, I guess I’m important in some ways,“ Judal began, chewing on the inside of his cheek, “but not in the way that you think I am.” The way that was strange and unfamiliar and not at all terrible, if he was being completely honest with himself. “But, hey, if you’re worried about sounding weird or crappy or anything, I’m probably even worse at this than you are.“
He tried to sound encouraging; he even smiled. So why was Kanae moving away? It didn’t make any sense. Suddenly he was struck by the terrible, terrible feeling that he had done something wrong somehow.
“Don’t ignore me.” Judal blurted in response before abruptly flopping down to sprawl out across the couch. Try to ignore him now, why don’t you.
Judal was a giant hypocrite for telling Kanae to stop degrading himself, and Kanae was fully aware of the fact that there was blatant hypocrisy being spewed at him. In all honesty, it was actually a bit annoying to hear. The irritation alone was the very reason why he moved from the other’s forehead to his mouth, pausing before leaning in to press his lips against the other’s own.
It doesn’t take long for him to pull away, muttering a quiet, “Don’t degrade yourself, asshole. It makes you look like a hypocrite since you have deliberately gone out of your way to tell me to not do that.”
There’s a moment in which Kanae lets a sigh pass parted lips, before he’s continuing on to add, “You’re important to me, so stop that,” to what he had just said.
Oh. Oh. That was unexpected. And yet, it wasn’t exactly unwelcome- at least, it didn’t seem to be, if the telltale smile pulling at his lips was any indication. The gesture wasn’t completely alien to him, but it was at least unfamiliar, few people working up the nerve to stand close to the ghoul- let alone touch him. Perhaps there was a reason for that; after all, had Kanae ever seen what he was truly capable of before? Not to his knowledge, at least. Still, Judal pushed that thought to the back of his mind for the moment, determined not to ruin the moment.
Was this a moment? Holy crap, he was pretty sure this was a moment- and not in the platonic sense, either.
”Eh? That’s some pretty harsh language, you know? I’m wounded.” He grinned widely, his tone lighthearted. “I never said I wasn’t a hypocrite; you’re important, but you’re important in your own way.” Important as an individual as opposed to a weapon, though he couldn’t quite bring himself to voice the thought. “Aah, still, should I be flattered?”

He was acting strange.
Judal was acting strange, and, yet, it wouldn’t be the first time he had behaved oddly while they were spending time with each other. It might be best to ignore the behavior and move on. After all, Kanae wasn’t too sure Judal would want him to worry about him, even if he, Kanae, couldn’t help it.
“Alright then.”
So, he ended up leaning in to place a kiss to the other’s forehead after that was said, pulling away shortly afterwards just for the sake of settling down next to him. Afterwards, it was a matter of leaning on him before adding a quiet, “I worry about you and your stupidity sometimes.”
He went very, very still when his forehead was kissed, the sudden display of affection foreign but not entirely unwelcome. When he opened his eyes, he did so slowly, fluttering once, twice, three times as he processed just what in the world had happened- and, by extension, what it was supposed to mean.
Well... It certainly didn’t seem like a bad thing. In fact, there was a small yet vocal part of the ghoul that thought he could probably get used to this.
“My stupidity?” Oh, well then. That was a burn if he had ever heard one- rude, by the way, but also kind of impressive at the same time. “Hey, what doesn’t kill me makes me stronger, and nothing has managed to kill me yet!“ Not for a lack of trying, of course, but that was another story entirely. “You should worry about something else- something more important, anyways.”
Was Judal lying? Well, that was something Kanae really shouldn’t have to ask himself all things considered. The other ghoul wasn’t doing a very good job at lying right now.
So, of course, he doesn’t hesitate to bring his other hand up so he could cup Judal’s face in both hands. A perfectly platonic gesture for a perfectly platonic friendship. “I will will admit you look and feel a little warm,” Pause, “If you aren’t feeling well, I can get you something to help with whatever it is that has made you feel odd.”
At that point, he felt more likely to drop dead from whatever the hell was wrong with him than anything else. The fact that Kanae was now cupping both of his cheeks wasn’t doing much to help matters. Was it possible to get heatstroke in the middle of fall? Hell if he knew, but it sure as hell felt like it.
“It’sfineit’sfineit’sfine.” The words came out as one, a quickly hissed slur that was just barely discernible. “I’ll be fine. You don’t have to worry about me; I’m strong, remember?” Not strong enough, apparently.
“I don’t know, why’re you in denial? In other words why haven’t you done the face eating thing?” Cue the vague hand gestures that are suppose be reminiscent of kissing.
“I already told you, I don’t plan on eating him anytime soon.” Oh, he saw those gestures, but he was choosing to ignore them. “Why are you even here? Hey, it’s really creepy of you to follow me around like this.“
“Yes, that would be unfortunate,” there’s a pause after those words were spoken in response to what Judal had said, a hand being lifted to be placed on the other’s cheek, before he moves on to add a quite, “Are you alright?”
He was a lot of things at the moment. Alright, unfortunately, was not one of them.
“A-ah.” His face felt weird- was that because Kanae was touching it? The ghoul tried and failed to avoid eye contact in the most casual manner possible. “Yeah, I’m fine. Do I look not fine to you?”
“Well! I would be minding my own business if you weren’t so red in the face.” That’s a lie, but whatever, “Why’re you so defensive all of a sudden anyways?”
“That’s bullshit; you’re just nosy as hell and we both know it. Why’re you asking so many stupid questions all of a sudden, anyways?!“
“Yes, I do have a face, and, last I checked, everyone has one,” Those words pass parted lips, and Kanae really has no idea why he’s acting so strange. Ah, it wasn’t anything that big, was it?
“Oh, you do? That’s a thing, yeah.” Smooth was the exact opposite of what he was being at the moment; clearly a change of subject was in order.“You know, it would be really shitty otherwise- how would people eat if they didn’t have faces?”

Cue the whispering of, “That’s gay,” at his twin.
“I... What the hell are you talking about?! Hey, you should mind your damn business, you know?!”

“I, uh.“ Oh, fuck, was he staring? Why was he doing something stupid like that? “You have a face!”
