Hii! Could I pretty please request a yandere Caitlyn vs yandere Jinx(maybe they are after the same darling but their darling doesnt want to do anything with either of them)
....bonus points if its around the time Zaun and Piltover are practically at war under Ambessa's influence
Also, I didnt see in ur rules whether you do a certain gender for reader/darling. Would it be ok if the reader was female? If not, then please pick any gender u feel comfy with<4
Have a nice day and sorry for the long request!

“Honey! I’m home!”
You hear her giggles before you see her and wonder how such a bubbly laugh can come from someone so cruel.
“I brought you something.”
The louder her steps got, the more you could feel your heart trying its best to break out from your chest. But you couldn't look up. You can already hear her smile, you don’t need to see it.
“Come on, toots! Why the long face?”
You could hear the confusion, the genuine confusion in her voice.
She tapped her fingers, mismatched nails tapping something in her hand.
“I brought you something.” She said, waiting for you to look at her present like a cat bringing a dead rat to their owner.
You freeze. Breath going still. It was never good when she brought you something.
You hear her sigh, the breath hitting you in the face.
“Fine, be like that.”
Suddenly you’re on her lap. Her arms snake around your waist, pulling you unbearably close. You try to move, but the fingers digging into your side scream at you not to.
“If you would stop being such a brat, you might actually enjoy this gift.” She takes your chin between her fingers, finally making you look her in the eyes.
“You’re so pretty.” Whispering as she caresses your face, your eyes flutter shut as you hear your heartbeat to start to pick up. You hate this. Her mood changes drive you insane and you struggle to keep up. You never know which side you’re going to get and how long you’ll have with it. You hate it.
Taking your sealed hands, she opens them, leaving a trail of scratch marks. Whatever she puts in your hands, you don’t like it. It’s hard, cold, and wet. It felt like jewelry.
“Open your eyes.” She grunts out, already over your behavior.
You squeeze your eyes harder and your chin feels the consequence.
“Open your eyes toots.” She says slowly, her grip getting stronger. She’s not playing today, she already did and it took her more effort than she intended to get her prize.
Slowly, you open your eyes and bring your shaking hand up to see what she brought you. Immediately, you gasp.
“Ha! I knew you would like it!” She chuckles, smugly smiling as she lets go of you to rest her arms on the squeaking couch.
You were frozen. You didn’t know how to respond. For the first time you’ve been trapped here, you can’t feel your heartbeat.
“So, what do you think?” She taps the couch, eyes wide, waiting for your response. It never comes. You just stare. You know what it is. Whose it was.
She gets jumpy, fiddling with her fingers as she waits for your response. Finally, you look at her and she laughs.
“Oh yeah! Whoops! My bad, I forgot,” Hurriedly, she rips the gag out of your mouth. “So, what do you think?”
You take a big breath, finally able to without something getting in your way. She rolls her eyes as she watches you, but when you look back to her she snaps back into focus.
Softly and slowly, you whisper, “You’re a monster.”
You shouldn’t have said that.
You should have never called her a monster. If you hadn’t, she would have put you back into the room.
It was too quiet and your mind was too loud. There was absolutely nothing on the concrete walls and the stained cot provided you no comfort. The blood on the chains were still there from the last time you tried to escape. Guess she saw no need to clean something that you would just get dirty again.
The tray of food she left for you was untouched. The only thing you needed was the spoon. You were picking at the chains with it, having lost your fork and knife privileges. You knew the spoon wouldn’t do much, but it still gave you some consolation that you were trying. You knew she would be down here soon anyways. You haven’t eaten in three days and she was growing more frustrated then she was when she put you in here to begin with. She might start feeding you again.
“Say, ‘Ahh!’”
You didn’t have much time until the spoon was forcing its way into your mouth. You could taste some of your blood on the spoon, making you gag slightly.
“Mmm! Wasn’t that so yummy toots!” Some of the food she worked so hard to get into your mouth fell out as she squished your cheeks together.
You started to shake your head no when you heard a crash. It sounded like something had fallen and broke. You looked at her as she whipped her head around, grabbing her gun, ready to shoot.
“Wait here and don’t move.” She said sternly as she quickly got up and went to the door, locking it shut. She seemed serious, she didn’t even call you toots. That was never a good sign.
Your leg started to tingle, so you got up and walked around as far as you could, chains abiding. You kept hearing crashing and banging. It had to have been at least five minutes till you heard her gun go off. Jumping, you quickly went back to where she had told you to stay, waiting for her to come back.
The door creaked open, but she didn’t go to you. No, she went to the chains. You heard them break off the wall. Finally, she went back to you. She lifted your head and your eyes widened.
“Hello again, my love.”
No.
It can’t be. She’s dead.
“I know you’re shocked right now, but we need to get home. I’ve got everything set up, just like before.” She caressed your cheek as she helped you stand, making sure your hands stayed binded with the broken chains.
You tried to push her back, “No. No, you’re dead. I saw the-”
“The neck collar? I got a new one.” Caitlyn said as she showcased her red neck collar. “I needed another one after running into your little girlfriend a few days ago. We will be talking about that when we get home by the way.” Her eyes sharpened and her grip tightened.
Jinx. She ought to be coming soon.
“We won’t have to worry about her anymore now anyways. I was able to do what she couldn’t, love.” She started to guide you out of the room, making sure you saw Jinx’s mangled body.
Her left arm was bent out of shape, all of her fingers snapped in different directions. Her legs were scratched up, blood piled up under her. If you didn’t know better, you would have thought she died from blood loss, but you did know better. Caitlyn had made Jinx’s face one big smiley face. Her eyes were larger, courtesy of her own gun. Her mouth was cut on both sides, each smile line going to her hairline. Her body looked like the aftermath of a demonic sacrifice.
You had to pull away from Caitlyn’s arms to make sure you didn't throw up on her slaughtered body. She let you fall to your knees, looking at you with those ice cold eyes. She slowly lowered herself to the ground, putting her hand on your shoulder.
“It’s your fault, you know?” She waited for you to look at her and she lifted your chin when your eyes focused on Jinx. “Had you not run away, she wouldn’t have been able to take you and she would still be alive.”
Caitlyn knew she didn’t have to say that she would kill Jinx eventually, no matter what happened. She already knew that you know the lengths she’ll go to protect you. Because she loves you.
She slowly stands again as your eyes return to Jinx. You should feel happy. Your kidnapper and delusional ex-friend is dead. But it’s your fault. She’s dead because of you. Another person’s blood on your hands.
“Let’s go, my darling.” Caitlyn puts a chain like collar around your neck, further limiting your ability to move. “I have someone I want you to meet.”
As she drags you out of that hellhole, you can’t help but think.
Maybe life with Jinx wasn’t so bad.

Chapter 6
“Jessup! No, stop! Please!”
Rosalie Jade’s desperate pleas woke Coriolanus up from his light nap immediately. His eyes kept closing, causing him to fall asleep every now and then, but he couldn’t help it. Nothing exciting had happened since the last scene that Coral and her little entourage had put on. It had been hours since then, and just by looking around the room, Coriolanus could tell that he wasn’t the only one who was starting to get bored. However, the second Coriolanus heard her in trouble, his sleep was instantly roused.
“What did you do to me?” Jessup asked her, confused.
“Jessup, I didn’t do noth-”
“WHAT DID YOU DO TO ME!” Jessup roared out.
What the hell is going on?!
Coriolanus rose from chair quickly, trying to figure out how to help his little sister. He watched as Rosalie Jade started to climb up some of the larger rubble from the bombing in an attempt to get away from Jessup. Her attempt to get away from him proved futile though, as Jessup started to follow her up the wreckage, still viciously yelling at her.
Coriolanus was trying to think of something to help Rosalie Jade while he eyed Lysistrata Vickers, Jessup’s mentor, come closer to him.
“Coriolanus,” She whispered, trying to get his attention which just resulted in him ignoring her. He didn't feel like talking to the mentor of the savage who was trying to kill his sister, “Coriolanus. Please.”
Rolling his eyes, he looked down at her, raising an eyebrow to tell her to go on.
“Rabies.” She pointed to the screen where Rosalie Jade was barely hanging on as Jessup was gaining on her. Coirolanus took a closer look and could see all the spit foaming in his mouth and that's when he remembered what Rosalie Jade had told him about what had happened on the first night in the zoo.
“Hm? Oh, Jessup? Yeah, he got bit by a rat on the first night here.”
“Rabies,” Coriolanus whispered out in realization and agreement, “Water. We need water.”
“What?” Lysistrata looked up at Coriolanus confused.
“Rabies causes animals to get hydrophobia. If you send water in, it will get him away from Rosalie Jade.” Coriolanus quickly rushed out as he saw Rosalie Jade slip on the rubble in the corner of his eye.
Lysistrata looked deeply into his eyes, “And people. Rabies causes animals and people to get hydrophobia.”
“That’s what I sa-just please, Lyssie. He’s already dead, but we still have a chance to save her. They’re allies, remember? You saw the way he cared for her in the zoo and how she got him to safety. It’s what he would’ve wanted.” Coriolanus tried to reason, not beg. Coriolanus Snow was not a beggar.
Lysistrata hesitantly nodded, and scurried back to her seat and sent as many bottles of water she could with Jessup’s sponsor donations.
Everyone watched the screen, staring intently at Jessup grabbing Rosalie Jade’s ankle as all the water bottles got sent into the arena, some breaking, but the others setting the savage into a manic state. Some of the bottles that had crashed and broke caused water to get onto Jessup, sending him flying backwards, tripping off of the high rubble and landing right onto a piercing stick of broken metal.
“Ohhhh! Now, that has to hurt!” Lucky laughed out.
Coriolanus just took a deep breath knowing that his baby sister was safe for now.
“Now I do believe that it is time for Miss. Vickers to leave.” Lucky made a fake pouty face to Lysistrata, causing the audience to laugh. Coriolanus locked eyes with Lysistrata and gave her a curt nod to which she gave one back with a look of sadness and despair.
Coriolanus didn’t understand why Lysistrata seemed to be so sad for Jessup. Of course she had lost, he would’ve been sad about that, but she seemed to have actually cared that Jessup had died. But Coriolanus couldn’t have been more happy. That fucking nuance was finally out of his and Rosalie Jade’s way. He never liked how close and how much Jessup seemed to care about Rosalie Jade. That was Coriolanus’ job, not his.
“And what is our Little Songbird doing now?” Lucky genuinely asked the audience.
Coriolanus turned his attention back to the screen, just catching Rosalie Jade climbing down from the rubble to sit down next to Jessup’s dead body, careful to not get too close to his face.
“I’m sorry. I’m s-so sorry.” She sobbed out, hugging his body. She raised her head, desperately calling out, “Please forgive me! Please! I’m sorry!”
Coriolanus heard sniffles and he watched as tears fell from people’s faces. He saw Lysistrata in the audience and he watched as her tears fell with a soft smile on her face, grateful that this little girl wouldn’t let someone she had grown attached to and respected die alone.
As she finally started to calm down, she saw Coral and her group notice her and start to run towards her. She looked back down to Jessup and quickly whispered something to him, confusing Coriolanus.
“It’s not over until the Mockingjay sings.”
Mockingjay?
With that, she quickly ran as fast as she could to the closest vent, yet again dodging death by Coral and her group.
“AHH! HOW DO YOU KEEP LETTING HER GET AWAY?!” Coral screeched.
“Me?! I'm the one that spotted her!” Treech yelled back.
“It doesn't do us any good by seeing her.” Mizzen told Treech.
Coral held her hand out to Mizzen, “Now wait a minute, Treech might be onto something.” Mizzen and Treech looked at her confused.
“Well earlier I saw Hy and Sol, didn't I? Treech, you also saw Teslee, right?” Treech nodded, somewhat proud. Coral smirked.
“Great, so Mizzen, with Treech's logic, I see him, so,” quickly, Coral plunged her trident right into chest with a smug look, “16 down, 7 more to go.”
“And yet again, another literal backstabbing performed by Coral!” Lucky clapped out.
“Mizzen,” He quickly looked up at Coral, “Go see if any bottles didn't break, I'm gonna see if I can get our little songbird out.” Coral sadistically smiled.
Mizzen quickly ran away from Coral in search of surviving bottles while Coral started to poke around the large vent Rosalie Jade went into.
“Ohhh Rosieeee!” Coral singed out, “There's nowhere to go in there, and when you come crawling out, I'll be waiting for you, you little brat.” Coral gritted out.
“My arm hurts like a bitch, you know. How did you even do that, though? Little Ol’Rosalie threw that perfectly. Wonder how.” Coral said mockingly.
“Coral! A little help please!” Mizzen called out, struggling to get the last three surviving water bottles from Panlo who had come out of hiding.
“Fucking useless.” Coral muttered to herself, “I'll be back Rosalie Jade, and I'll kill you, and then your crazy ass mentor.” Coral screamed into the vent.
“It looks to me that sneaky Panlo has come out to shine folks! How will he affect our current predicament with our little songbird and raging Coral? Let's find out, shall we?” Lucky asks. “No, the screen! Go to the screen!” Lucky whisper shouted at the cameraman as he held the camera on Lucky for a second too long. “Idiot.” He mumbled.
The cameraman just missed it though, getting a glimpse of the Coral and Mizzen's backs as they chased Panlo through the tunnels. So he went to the next best thing, Rosalie Jade quickly coming out of the vent and running towards the water after deeming it safe.
“And what is our little Rosalie Jade doing now?” Lucky questioned before luckily turning to the cameraman warning him, “Don't even try it.”
Rosalie Jade hasilty took a few chugs of water before dumping the rest of its contents. She took the other two bottles and ran behind a large rock, hidden from the cameras.
Now. Do it now.
Within a minute she came out from behind the rock to the meager puddle from the other bottle, and poured the last two bottles. She smashed one, grabbing a sharp piece and quickly ran back into the vent.
“Huh. You know I'm really starting to think that our songbird is smarter than we all thought.” Lucky spoke into the mic, getting a light chuckle as a reaction from the audience.
“Good shot Mizzen!” Coral told the boy, clapping him on the back, as the two of them walked back into the main area of the arena.
“Thanks Coral! I did what yo-”
“NOOO!” Coral shrieked, seeing the water had been broken.
“Shit.” Mizzen let out. Both of them quickly ran over to the now puddle of water.
“We can't drink it now. FUCK!” Coral yelled out in frustration.
Mizzen looked at her confused, “Why not?”
Coral looked at him annoyed, “Because Mizzen, who knows what is on the arena floor. There could be poison or something on it.”
Still confused, he tilted his head, “Why would they do that? We already have to fight in here-”
“Exactly!” Coral exclaimed, “Nothing in here is fair! The Capitol doesn't play that way. They're in charge. They make the rules.” Coral sniffled. “Hell, the Reaping ain't even fair no more.”
What? Does she know about what happened in District 12? Did she hear about it being rigged? How?
“That little brat ain't even from 12,” Coral pointed to the vent, “I still remember what happened to her family, all because of her. You know she has a sister? She had to change her last name so she wouldn't be drowned by Peacekeepers just because their mama tried to save the brat.” Coral looked up, “And look where that got her. Still trapped in this damned arena.” Coral bitterly laughed out. “She could've been in my place at 4 and I would've never been in here.” Coral choked out, looking down.
“Well I'll be damned.” Lucky whispered to himself.
“And her ma? What happened to her?” Mizzen whispered.
“Drowned. Killed by Peacekeepers. Her pa too. It was a whole event. Everyone was forced to watch as the traitors that escaped got killed by the hand of the Capitol and their own daughter.” Coral looked towards the vent, standing up to walk towards it. “You hear that little girl? You killed your parents and left your sister to die!” Coral screamed into the vent, banging it with her foot. Small, just audible sniffles were heard from the vent.
“And now she cries her crocodile tears.” Coral shakes her head, irritated.
“What the fuck am I supposed to do with that?” Lucky whisper yelled into his ear piece.
What the fuck just happened?
Coriolanus’ mind was going a mile a minute as he thought about what Coral said. There was a possibility that she was lying, but with all the small details that she said, he doubted that. Was it possible that Rosalie Jade lied to him about her family? If so, why?
“Okayyyy. Well then. Uhh-” Lucky was at a loss for words, struggling to change the somber mood Coral so graciously put everyone in.
“Come on. Let’s go find Dill. Might as well put the poor girl out of her misery.” Reaching her hand out for Mizzen to grab. With that, the two of them went into a random tunnel.
“Well folks, it seems that Coral might have had a change of um-heart! Wanting to help one of our tributes out of their suffering. How kind!” Lucky awed, causing the audience to parrot him.
A few minutes after the two of them were out of sight, Wovey and Dill came out from behind the large rubble. The two of them hand in hand, coughing and walking closer and closer to the puddle of water.
“Well it seems little tuberculosis on legs made a friend. How cute.” Lucky chuckled out.
The two of them slowly fell to their knees, crawling to the puddle in coughing fits, just barely holding onto life.
“And it seems that the best of friends will be going out together as well.” Lucky said, pouting to the camera.
Coriolanus watched as the pair neared the puddle, but Dill’s body completely gave out on her, and she collapsed on herself. Wovey looked at her, stopping to lightly shake her, but started to cry when she realized she was gone. Wovey started to crawl toward the water again, and when she reached it, she just sat, staring right into it.
Come on Wovey. Drink it.
But Wovey just sat there. She looked behind her to Dill and connected their hands again. Finally, Wovey, with what little strength she had left, cupped her hands and brought the water to Dill’s mouth, giving her what would have been her last sip. Then, Wovey brought her hands back down into the puddle and drank the water. She slowly laid down to her side, right next to Dill. She held her hand as she started to choke to death on her own saliva, her body harshly pulsating until there was no more movement.
“What a lovely little friendship made through this year's Games! However, I am upset to say goodbye to our own friend here at the Capitol, Mr. Hilarius Heavensbee. A pleasure it was-” Lucky gave his hand out to the boy, but was promptly brushed off as Hilarius stormed out of the building.
“Well he’s not too happy now is he?” Lucky chuckled, “And now little Miss. Dill’s mentor, Mr. Felix Ravinstill is, unfortunately, still in the hospital, recovering from his wounds from the bombing.” Lucky said, looking down. The fact that Felix was still in the hospital was concerning and angered many. Their president’s son was still in the hospital, possibly dying. Coriolanus himself was shocked that he wasn’t dead yet. After all, without a predecessor, the presidency would soon be up for grabs. All Coriolanus needed was for President Ravinstill to die.
“Dill! Wovey!”
“Here comes Reaper! How will he react WIll he, A, go on a rage-filled killing spree or B, mourn the death of his beloved counterpart of District 11?” Lucky asked the audience, making people raise their hands for which one they thought. But as Lukcy did this wonderful audience survey, they missed what reaper was actually doing, until one girl yelled out.
“He’s torn the flag down!”
Gasps, disgusted, horrified, and shocked were heard all throughout the building. One might say they even heard one in the Districts.
“Well that wasn’t an option.” Lucky said, more to himself than the audience.
“Are you gonna punish me now?” Reaper yelled into the cameras.
“I said, ARE YOU GONNA PUNISH M-” But he was promptly cut off by Dr. Gaul’s televised announcement.
“At approximately 6:35 this morning, Felix Ravinstill succumbed to his wounds and died in the hands of his mother.”
The previous loud and enraged audience quickly settled down, becoming as silent as mice.
“I will not, under any circumstances, let these rebels continue to mess with the Capital and its people. I refuse to let such horrid acts of bombing 24 innocent children lead to the banishment of my games. Before the sun sets tonight, there will be a rainbow of destruction and I do not care if there won’t be a victor! If one life of a Capotilite must suffer, then all of the Districts must.”
As quickly as they were silent, they became loud, talking and wondering what Gaul could have meant because what are the Hunger Games without a victor?
But Coriolanus knew. And he knew exactly what she was going to do.
The snakes.
Hello! Sorry it took so long for this chapter to come put and for it being short, but I've just hadn't had the time to write and when I did, I didn't feel motivated. Bad excuse I know, but the chapter is here now, so that's good. Thank you for reading this chapter and have a great day/night!

I can keep writing to make it longer, but it might not come out until the week or two. Or I can post what I have now. It's up to you guys. Love ya! ❤️

Warnings: DARK short story, death, blood, cannibalism, toxic freind, grotesque scenes, and one slightly suggestive scene. Please read with caution! This is a DARK SHORT STORY, if any of these warnings are triggering to you, then don't read this. Your media consumption is choice. This is all FICTION.
In the slums of California, where trash was mountain high, the rats living in the streets saw them as castles. However, stay clear of these rats, for you don’t know if the one you end up finding could talk or not.
It was clear to see that living in the slums of California was not ideal. The kids living there could be seen wearing worn out clothes, hand-me downs, and those in the worst cases, rags. Surrounded by trash everywhere, the putrid smell of dead rats (most kids chose that those dead are the non-talking ones to help keep their days going good) and just straight up trash could be smelled from all the way in Washington.
With its crime ridden streets, many riots, robberies, and on the occasion, murders, no one, even the many rats that would help in these events, were safe. The police have tried to stop at least some of the crimes and bring the crime rates down, but it has gotten so out of hand that they have just given up. But to begin with, they never really were good cops. With most of them having a beer belly and almost all of them being over 50, most were in due time to retire or just give up. But the younger ones, the ones more fit for the job, well they gave up too once they realized they could make more money being one of the rats. Letting most rats out of the cage by “accident” because what is a reward with no risk?
However, the lucky ones, like Lilith, could be seen living off in the distance, in her pristine, castle-like home. She was one of the few lucky, rich families that could afford proper protection from the rats living in the slums and shelter. Spending most of her time in her Victorian themed bedroom, she truly was living like a princess. Her light pink drapes, hanging high from her windows, brought much darkness into her baby pink room. Her blush pink canopy would lull her to sleep as it would gently dance to the wind singing to her every night.
Her hair was rich as dark chocolate and skin as pale as snow. Her pearly white smile shone as bright as day. Towering over all her peers, she stood at a lofty 5’9, ever the long stick she was. However, it was her eyes that were the main attraction. Her bright, sapphire eyes always captured people’s attention, always shining like the true gem itself.
The beautiful eyes could always be seen. Wherever she was, whoever she was with, her cerulean eyes would be the first thing one would see even in the darkest of places.
Her mother taught her from a very young age to always be polite, sweet, kind, and everything a boy could want in a wife. With her mother, drilling it into her head with a jackhammer, she would never forget what she taught her.
The voice of an angel, soft and delicate could only describe as she was to the ones she talked to. She seemed to float as she walked and would glide across the stage when she would dance, yet another thing her mother thought was needed to increase her feminine traits. She could sit at your normal Chick-Fil-A and eat as if she were dining with the Queen of England.
So here she was, eating lunch with her friend, Nelly, at Chick-Fil-A as if she were at a fancy tea party.
“Did you watch the newest Scream movie yet? I know that you’re a huge fan.”
Ah, yes. Scream. It was Lilith’s favorite movie of all time, with American Psycho coming in as a close second.
“No. I didn’t get the chance to go to the theater yet to see it. I don’t think my mother would be too fond of me watching the film anyways.” Grabbing her lemonade, Lilith took a sip after answering.
“God, why do you always talk like you got a stick up your ass?” Nelly reached over and grabbed a fry from Lilith’s nicely splayed food on the tray the food came on.
Incompetent pig.
“It’s just proper English. Now come on, we should go now, it’s almost supper time.” Lilith gracefully jumped down from her chair as she started to clean up her area.
“Supper time. I mean, really! Who even talks like that.” Nelly exclaimed, waving her hands around like a lunatic.
“Proper English, my friend. Proper English.” Lilith patted Nelly’s back, subtly pushing her out of her chair.
“Supper time. Phh. Old lady talk.” Nelly muttered, pushing her chair in and throwing her food onto Lilith’s tray.
Lazy ass.
Walking out of Chick-Fil-A, the sun was slowly saying goodbye, leaving pink and yellow skid marks across the sky. God, how Lilith hated sunsets.
I mean, what’s the point of having someone come and leave their mess everywhere, just for someone else to clean it up. The moon should be the one that everyone loves, oh so much. She’s the one doing all the work.
“Remind me again why you can’t come over tonight?” Nelly looked up at Lilith.
“I need to prepare supper for my mother and me. We are having chicken and I need to cook it before she gets home.” Lilith answered, looking down on Nelly.
“But we just ate? Why would you eat again?” Nelly gave a confused look to the tall stick.
“Because Nelly, my mother didn’t eat yet and I only ate my fries. You’re the one who truly ate.”
Like a damn pig.
“Oh.” Nelly looked down at her shoes.
Fuck.
“However, it was near supper time, so of course you ate. You were hungry, as one should be when it’s time to eat.” Lilith saved face, grabbing Nelly’s left hand.
“Yeah, I guess you’re right!” Nelly exclaimed, swinging both of their hands.
Continuing their walk to Lilith’s house, Nelly started to skip a bit, slightly dragging Lilith along with her. Anyone walking by could see just how uncomfortable Lilith was. How she looked as though bugs were crawling out of her. Piercing her skin, leaving tiny, maggot shaped holes, with small streams of blood, slowly oozing down her arm, covering her in her own dark red blood. As if the bugs, now at her feet, slowly start to gnaw at her shoes–like carpenter ants–and make their way up her legs, leaving deep bites, right down to the bone. As if they made their way all the way up her mangled body just to seep into her eyes and mouth, slowly choking and blinding her.
That is how Lilith felt right now, just from a simple hand holding that she, herself, initiated.
Finally reaching her house, Lilith tried to pull her hand away from Nelly, but she held on tighter and then pulled her into a hug.
“Bye Lily! See you tomorrow!” Nelly beamed at the girl.
Lilith swore she could feel the bugs on her backside now, slowly going down her body and stopping at her legs again. She could feel them bore deeper into her eyes and choke her harder at the close proximity and nickname. No one, and I mean, no one, called Lilith, Lily. It had the complete opposite of her name. The complete opposite of her.
“Lilith. See you tomorrow, Nelly.” Lilith grumbled.
“Right. Sorry, Lilith. Bye!” Nelly apologized, giving Lilith finger guns and she backed away.
Lilith gave her a fake smile and watched Nelly as she turned around and started to walk away, wondering how someone so simple-minded could get on someone like Lilith’s nerves so much.
Imbecile.
Turning around, Lilith picked the key out of her pocket, unlocking the door. Walking in, she looked at her beautiful castle like home, smiling. She took a minute to look around the living room. There was a small mug resting on the short, crystal living room table. Raising her eyebrows, Lilith slowly walked over to the mug, resting her dainty hand on the mug.
Warm.
Her mother must be home. Why was she home so early, Lilith didn’t know. She did know, however, that she hoped her mother didn’t want to spend bonding time with her. She couldn’t stand the woman. Thought that she was a wasted body. The female Frankstien, born without a brain. Though Lilith swore that even he had more brains then the woman could ever have.
“Hey honey! How was the walk with Nelly?” The woman gently asked, walking towards her daughter.
However, to Lilith, it sounded like the murderous siren calls. The one sailors would hear right before the sirens would show their true nature. She would give that to her mother. She was beautiful, but in the old timey way. Where you knew that she was once a beautiful woman, one filled with joy and hope. Now she just looks like a rose that someone tried to preserve in time, but it dried out much too quickly. Slowly rotting away.
“It was fine, mother.”
“That’s good. Did you have fun? Where did you guys go?” Her mother asked, trying to keep the conversation going, while moving closer to Lilith. Her mother thought that their conversations were always cut so short. She loved her daughter very much and while she always tried to make sure that she would always present herself in a very feminine way, it was her way of showing her love. Besides, she was helping her daughter. If this little girl is what took away her beauty, she was going to protect hers at all cost. She didn’t want to see her only daughter rotting away just like her.
Lilith, however, thought that her mother was asking too many questions and was way too close.
“I had a wonderful time, mother. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to prepare supper. I think that I’ll be fine by myself in the kitchen. Goodbye.” Lilith answered, putting her mother down before she could even ask a question to help her.
“Ok. I love you!” Her mother hollered to her as she watched her daughter walk away from her.
Rolling her eyes, Lilith walked into the kitchen and her eyes found the dead chicken right away.
Smiling, Lilith let out a quick sigh. She walked over to the kitchen counter and bent down to open up the middle drawer and pulled out her baby pink, flora design apron.
Bunny looping it around her waist, she grabbed the flour, breading, eggs, and knives. She got to work preparing the chicken.
Lilith loved preparing food, specifically meat. She loved how she could just let go and relax.
Digging her hands into the chicken, she gently pulled out the liver. Looking at the slimy, red liver, she wondered how it differed from a human liver. If it were to be stabbed, would it react the same way a humans’ would? She could know her answer to the chicken’s, but not the humans.
This angered Lilith. She hated not knowing things, especially when the things she had to do to attain what she wanted could be done, but just frowned upon by society.
Deciding not to linger on this, knowing it would only anger her more, she moved on to taking out the gizzard. Pulling it out rather quickly, she couldn’t wait to get to her favorite part. The heart. Gently taking the knife to her left, she cut open where the heart should be and sliced through the skin. She knew how to fix it up for her mother so she wouldn’t know she did this. As she put her dainty hand into the chicken, she delicately wrapped her hands around the heart and pulled out the heart.
The heart was still a bit bloody, but Lilith didn’t mind. As she looked at the heart more, she started wondering again.
What would it taste like?
She had tried it cooked before, but never raw. Her mother always talked about how she could get Salmonella. But she never cared and each time she was told that, she never was talking or thinking about the chicken’s heart.
Putting the heart onto the counter to her left, she started to really get to work on the chicken. She cracked the eggs and poured the breadcrumbs into a medium sized bowl. Then she got to the chicken. She worked her way from the bottom up, meticulously getting rid of any imperfections.
While doing this, she reflected on her actions towards Nelly today. She knew she had gone a bit too far with the food comment, but thankfully was able to save herself.
So naive.
She needs to be more careful, Nelly is overly sensitive and will burst into tears at any given moment.
However, Nelly is a simple girl and so easy to manipulate. With her being a short, plump girl, she didn’t have many friends, and the ones she did have, she cherished. Friends like Lilith. Lilith knew the day she met Nelly that she would be annoying, but useful. Nelly came from a wealthy and influential family. So while Lilith was rich, Nelly was richer. And while Lilith held some power with her “ranking,” Nelly held more, even if she didn’t know it.
So whenever Nelly had a big decision to make, Lilith would always be there, to help her decide what to do. She needed Nelly to be dependent on her, and as annoying as the girl was, it would only benefit Lilith. She needed to get it into Nelly’s head that Lilith was the only one who would be there for her. The only one whose opinion mattered. The only one she needed for anything.
Lilith was so deep in thought that she didn’t realize that she had completely gutted the chicken until she heard her mother’s shriek.
“Lilith! The chicken! What did you do?!” Her mother came barreling in and pushed Lilith out of the way and stood in front of the chicken, examining what her daughter had done to it.
While her mother was distracted by the mangled chicken, Lilith sneakily grabbed the chicken heart and put it into her pocket.
“What was the-why would?” Her mother took a deep breath. “Why did you do this Lilith?” Her mother said, finally looking up at Lilith.
“I was not paying attention. I got distracted, mother.” Lilith replied.
“You can’t get distracted when you are using knives Lilith! Just, just go to your room. Now.” Her mother said, looking back down at the chicken.
“Ok.” Lilith answered, taking off her apron and turning to go to her room.
Her mother just sighed. The chicken had been completely torn up and gutted. Lilith had taken the knife and sliced the chicken from the bottom up, opening it cleanly. She had put her hands inside of the chicken, completely ripping out its insides. What little blood was left on the chicken now covered its entire body, smeared everywhere. It was on the chicken, knives, and the counters.
Lilith couldn’t help it though. Of course she didn’t mean to, but her mind and hands had separate plans. Once she got her hands inside the warm chicken, she completely let go.
Oh well.
Reaching her room, Lilith quietly closed her door and locked it. She moved to sit on her beautiful cherry blossom colored bed. She sat down and just started at her baby pink walls.
Oh!
Then she remembered. The heart. The chicken heart.
She pulled it out of her pocket and looked at it attentively. It was covered in blood from the gutting and was dripping a bit onto her white carpet floors.
Still warm.
She slowly brought it up closer to her face, a mere few inches away from her lips. She stared at it, mesmerized at how the blood seemed to glisten in the sun’s lowering rays. She brought it closer to her face, deeply inhaling its scent, her eyes fluttering in the pleasant smell. She then slowly lowered it to her mouth, lips caressing the heart as she thought about what she was about to do.
This is wrong. It is so very wrong. Sadistic even. Right?
As she heard her mother coming up the stairs, she quickly bit into the heart, eyes closing in pleasure. She heard her mother come closer to her room and she took another bite, moaning in delight from the taste.
“Lilith?” Her mother knocked on the door.
Of fuck off and let me enjoy this.
Lilith didn’t answer, instead she continued to scarf the heart down, getting its blood and juice all over her face, her bed, and carpet.
“Listen, I get that you don’t want to talk. I just-I’m sorry for yelling, but you can’t get distracted like that, Lilith. What if that were to happen with your husband? Who knows what he would do?” Her mother tried to reason with her.
Lilith just ignored the woman, too caught up in the heart she was almost finished. Besides, Lilith had heard this lecture before. Her mother would always “apologize,” but then right after would bring up how her future husband would react and how it was not very “ladylike.”
As Lilith continued to ignore her mother, her mother put her ear up to her daughter’s room and was horrified by the noises of squelching and moaning. Of course her mother thought the worst, but Lilith wasn’t doing that. No. She was simply just eating something delicious.
“Lilith, what are you doing?” Her mother whispered shakily.
Lilith, too caught up in eating the heart, missed the way her door handle jiggled and slowly opened as she finished the heart.
Her mother screeched in horror as Lilith looked up at her like a deer in headlights.
Shit.
“Oh, oh my Go-” Her mother started, but was cut off as she started to throw up all over her daughter’s carpet. Lilith grimaced in disgust watching her mother throw up.
Ew.
As her mother realized that she wasn’t going to stop throwing up, she quickly moved to Lilith’s bathroom and sat in front of the toilet, trying to aim the yellowish, pungent smelling fluid in there.
What am I going to do now?
Lilith didn’t know what to do. She couldn’t have her mother calling her crazy just because she wanted to try something different. And God, if the woman even tried to put her into therapy, oh, then Lilith would kill herself. She thought therapy was so stupid and only weak people had to talk to someone about their feelings and thoughts just because they couldn’t handle them themselves. And Lilith was not weak.
Maybe? No! That’s crazy. I can’t.
I shouldn’t.
I could.
…
Yes.
Lilith quickly picked the pen to her right–the same one she used to write in her diary–and carefully walked to her bathroom.
I can do this. I am not weak.
However, as Lilith got closer to her bathroom, she heard gurgling.
Quick. I need to be quick.
But when she entered, pen raised, she saw her mother lying down on the ground, choking on her own puke. Her mother was gagging, unable to sit up for some reason.
Why can’t she sit up? How are you able to find the strength to try to stay alive, but not sit up?
Lilith watched as the woman was gagging, unable to get air into her lungs from the puke blocking the way. As her mother reached for her daughter’s hand, Lilith stood still, unmoving or caring.
She watched in awe as the woman before her fought so hard to stay alive, but the odds were not in her favor.
She was going to die either way, either by the hands of nature or me. So why not let her choose the surprise option of her own hands?
Lilith stood watching for a few more minutes, waiting for her mother to die. She watched as each minute went by, something new would happen to her mother. The first minute, her face contorted into a pained expression while her face slowly turned all different colors of the rainbow, from red to indigo. The second minute, the puke started to bubble up around her mouth, pouring down her sides and she tried to coax it out without success. Lilith watched as her mother would sputter the puke around, causing it to land all over the floor of her bathroom, her mother’s clothing, and her mother’s face. By the third minute, Lilith knew that her mother would soon be dead. Her eyes had started to bulge from her socket–almost looking like they were about to pop out–and dark red tears started to fall from them. Slowly running down her face, mixing with the puke all over her face, making a red-orange, disgusting looking fluid. Her lips had turned an icy blue. When the fourth minute occurred, it was like Cinderella’s carriage had turned back into a pumpkin. Her mother’s body had caved in on itself, her hands turning in towards her body, looking broken. Her eyes had rolled to the back of her head and her body started to violently shake. Then, it all stopped. The blood tears, the puke sputtering everywhere, the bulging eyes, and the shaking. She was dead.
Well shit.
Lilith looked at her mother, tilting her head in curiosity. Was she really dead? Would it be like in Scream where the killer comes back to life for one last scare before they really die?
I mean, she was her own killer, so maybe she will come back to scare me one final time.
As Lilith waited for her mother’s final scare, it never happened. She truly was dead.
Lilith slowly walked out of her bathroom and saw how disgusting her room looked. There was blood and puke everywhere. Deciding to deal with her room and bathroom later, she went to her mother’s bedroom and walked straight to her bathroom. She looked at herself in the mirror. There was blood all over her face and mouth, speckles of puke on her chin that her mother so graciously gave to her, and her clothes and hands were drenched in blood.
Lilith didn’t even bother taking her clothes off as she stepped into the shower and started to wash herself. She felt a shock as the cold water flowed down her body.
She watched as the blood came off of her body and ran down the drain. She steadily started to pick her clothes off one at a time, starting with her socks and working her way up. Once she eventually got clean and got rid of all the blood and puke off her body, she stepped out of the shower and dried herself. She didn’t bother going to her own room to get clothes for herself, but rather grabbed what she needed out of her mother’s drawers.
When she was changed, Lilith walked downstairs to find that her mother had completely cleaned up the mess she made.
Mother.
Her mother was still up in Lilith’s room.
What am I supposed to do with her body? Call the cops? No. Well, I didn’t kill her, but I also didn’t try to help her. Whatever, I’ll figure it out later.
Lilith decided that she wouldn’t ponder on her mother’s dead body for longer, but instead she decided to call Nelly. Lilith needed to get out of the house for a few hours, and while she hated Nelly, this would only be a way to strengthen their friendship.
The line rang twice before Nelly’s mother picked up.
“Hello?” Lilith heard her say.
“Hello, Mrs. Hunapo! This is Lilith.” Lilith responded.
“Lilith, yes dear! How are you?” Mrs. Hunapo asked.
“I’m doing great. I was actually wondering if I could come over to spend some time with Nelly. I know we hung out earlier, but I just wanted to hangout with her again. And forgive me for sounding, one might say, clingy, but I kind of miss her.” Lilith finished her sentence trying to sound nervous, really making sure that she would let Lilith come over.
“Oh, my dear. Of course! You know, I was actually about to call you! Nelly just left a few minutes ago to come over to yours. She said something about being invited over for dinner.” Mrs. Hunapo told Lilith to her surprise.
What?
“Oh my goodness! I completely forgot about that! I am so sorry for bothering you, Mrs. Hunapo! I guess I’ll see Nelly soon then. Goodbye!” Lilith hung up before Mrs. Hunapo could even say goodbye. Lilith didn’t understand why Nelly would lie about her asking Nelly to come over for supper. Lilith never, and would never, invite Nelly to supper. She already has to spend the whole school day and most weekends with her, so why would she want to be around her for supper as well?
Then there was the even bigger problem. Her mother’s dead body.
Well, I guess I have to worry about that now.
Just as Lilith was about to try to somehow hide the carcass of her mother, the doorbell rang.
Dammit!
Lilith quickly collected herself and opened the door.
“Hey Lily!” Nelly said, giving Lilith a big hug.
Lilith, deciding that the nickname was the least of her problems right now, cautiously hugged Nelly back.
“Hey Nelly.” Lilith gritted out.
Nelly let go of Lilith and walked right into the house. As Lilith turned to close the door, that’s when she noticed that Nelly had a bag with her. A night bag.
She can’t be serious.
Nelly saw Lilith staring at her night bag with confusion.
“Oh, yeah. I hope you don’t mind, but I kinda might have told my parents that you also said I could stay over. Sorry.” Nelly said, looking down at her feet.
I do fucking mind you lying bitch.
“Of course not, Nelly! But why did you lie to your parents in the first place? I don’t remember inviting you to supper or over at all for that matter.” Lilith tried to joke, but it just came out bitterly.
“Oh. I-I thought that you wouldn’t mind, since we’re such good friends and all.” Nelly whispered.
“No. It’s fine Nelly. You know what, why don’t we just go to bed?” Lilith sighed, trying not to yell at Nelly.
“Ok! But, you don’t want to eat or anything?” Nelly asked, concerned for her friend.
“No. I’m fine. Besides, we both already ate earlier, remember? You can't possibly still be hungry?” Lilith said, trying to get Nelly shut up and just go to bed.
“Y-yeah, You’re right. Could I get changed maybe?” Nelly asked.
“Yeah, first door on the left.” Lilith told Nelly.
Lilith watched as Nelly walked into the bathroom to get changed and let out a sign of relief.
I just need to make it through the night. Then I can figure everything out. God, why do you always have to make everything so complicated, Mother?
Lilith waited patiently for Nelly to get dressed, but she was starting to get annoyed as the girl was taking forever. Every so often, she would hear a clank!
Did she fall or can she not get her fatass into her pants? It’s probably the latter.
Finally, Nelly came out of the bathroom.
“Hey, sorry I took so long, I was washing my face and teeth.” Nelly said, looking up at Lilith brightly.
“It’s fine.” Lilith forced out.
“Hey, um, where is your mom, if you don’t mind me asking? I thought she would be home by now or something.” Nelly asked.
Shit.
“She, um, she went on a date. Yeah, she uh, she met this new guy and has been spending a lot of time with him. She left right after supper.” Lilith quickly came up with, trying to sound sad to earn Nelly’s sympathy.
“Oh! I am so sorry for asking, Lily. I didn’t know. Why don’t we go to sleep now.” Nelly asked, trying to comfort Lilith.
“Lilith. But yeah, ok. Let’s sleep.” Lilith quickly said.
As Nelly tried to go upstairs, Lilith quickly stopped her, insistenting that they sleep downstairs in the living room. Nelly, of course, agreed.
The girls got adjusted on the floor, surrounded by blankets and pillows. Nelly had insisted that they sleep in a fort. Lilith reluctantly agreed, doing whatever she needed to make sure that Nelly stayed downstairs.
Lilith was looking at the top of Nelly’s Hello Kitty blanket, which she so kindly brought with her, and was trying to figure out how to deal with her mother’s body. She knows she shouldn’t think about it right now, not with Nelly over, but she couldn’t help it.
She couldn’t go to the police, she had already crossed that out earlier. She can’t just leave her there, she would start to rot soon and that would leave a dreadful smell. She can’t put it in a lake, there are none close to where she lives and she was not walking around California, holding a dead body.
As Lilith kept thinking of options, she got distracted by Nelly shuffling in her sleep out of the corner of her eye.
God! Lay still!
Lilith thought about burying the body in the backyard, but that would be too obvious. Plus, she would have to start a garden to cover up the dirt patch and Lilith did not like dirt.
Nelly kept shuffling and every so often, Lilith would hear her whimper.
Must be having a nightmare. Well, I’m living in one, you can just wake up. Granted, I did make my own nightmare, but still, she can wake up! Crybaby. Oh!
Lilith had done it! She had thought of the perfect plan. She would burn her mother in the fireplace, then she would convince everyone that she left for a lover, leaving her only daughter to live alone. She would get rid of her mothers body, get pity and sympathy from others, and her mother’s money. She would not be an orphan for long. No, she was almost eighteen. The second she would get out of that orphanage, she would get her money, house, and freedom. No one would know.
Lilith, closing her eye’s in sweet victory. Everything would go the way she wanted. She would get away with everything. With the money. With the house. With her freedom. Hell, even with the murder that she didn’t even commit! She could feel it in her heart. It was throbbing at a high rate, excited. She could feel it pumping blood all over her body from the exhilarating feeling she was getting right now. Her whole body just felt so warm right now.
Then it hit her.
Her heart wasn’t throbbing from excitement. No, it was from the hole she could feel in it. Her heart wasn’t pumping blood all over her body from the exhilarating feeling. No, her heart was pumping blood on her body from the cavity left behind in her heart. She was warm because of her blood.
What th-
Before Lilith could even finish her thought, her body started spasming from the loss of blood and the hole in her heart. She shakily opened her eyes, not understanding what was going on. As she opened them, she was graced with a face covered in blood. Her blood.
Nelly.
“WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?! GET O-” Lilith quickly shut herself up with a scream after Nelly pushed her 9 inch filet knife deeper into Lilith’s heart.
“Yeah, I wouldn’t do that if I were you.” Nelly said, smiling sweetly at her.
Lilith knew that she was losing blood, and fast. A pierced heart does that to you.
“I know, I know! Why, Nelly? Oh, why!” Nelly said dramatically, laughing to herself. Lilith just looked at the crazed girl expectedly.
“Well, how about I just really wanted to see your fucking insides.” Nelly whsipered, taking the knife out of her heart and slicing her way down through Lilith’s body, finishing at her lower stomach.
Lilith just laid there, confused on how Nelly was getting to do the things that Lilith wanted to. She gutted the chicken, she won that one, but Nelly got to gut a person! A living person! She got to gut Lilith.
That’s not fair.
As Lilith watched Nelly worked her way through her body, she couldn’t help but wonder what brought this on. She was always so nice, innocent, and easy to manipulate. Maybe Lilith rubbed off on her too much.
Lilith let out a scream as Nelly ripped out part of her large intestine, getting blood all over her abdomen and Nelly’s hands.
“You know, I always wondered why you were so weird. I mean, who goes into the shower with clothes on?” Nelly said, as she looked at Lilith’s ripped up and bloody intestine.
What. God, even when she is literally killing me, she is so random. I mean, just shut the fuck up and finish the job. I already gave up, I know I’m not making it out of here.
Wait a fucking minute.
How the hell does she know that?
“What?” Lilith gurgled as she felt blood start to pool up in her mouth.
Like mother, like daughter.
“I mean really Lilith? Water and clothes don’t mix. Well unless it’s a swimsuit and you're in the pool or an ocean. Oh! In a hot tub too.” Nelly said, starting to rant as she threw her bloodied right hand around as she talked.
“Nelly! Ho-how did you know that I went into the shower with my clothes on?” Lilith asked in shock and confusion. She didn’t understand how Nelly could possibly know this and it was starting to worry her, more than gutting her. Did that mean she also knows about her mother as well?
No. She can’t. She never went upstairs.
Nelly smirked, “Well, I didn’t. The recording device stopped working and I figured that you had got it wet. I just assumed that you took a shower with your clothes on.” Nelly stated as if it was the most obvious thing.
“Recording device? Ne-” Lilith started, but was cut off by Nelly, “And really Lilith, you need to clean your bathroom. Smells horrible.” Nelly joked, looking Lilith right in the eye as she started to slurp Lilith’s intestine down as if it was spaghetti, getting blood all over her mouth.
The second Nelly said that, Lilith finally realized. She realized that she did feel those bugs on her legs, crawling right into her pant pocket. She realized that she didn’t feel a shock from the cold water, but from the electronic getting wet. She remembered that the vent in the spare bathroom downstairs went straight up to her bathroom, and realized that the clanking was from her removing and putting the vent back on to put her airhead in to see her mother. Her dead mother.
Lilith looked at Nelly in shock. How could she have missed all of the signs?! Lilith felt so dumb right now and she did not like that. Nelly just bared her teeth to her like a wolf after a kill, with blood smeared all over her face and little pieces of the intestine stuck in her blood stained teeth.
“What? Feel dumb?” Nelly laughed in her face.
Now that. That pissed Lilith off. Lilith weakly brought her hand up to hit Nelly, but Nelly was faster and stronger. She cut Lilith’s wrist, right to the creamy white bone. Lilith bellowed in pain. As she was distracted, Nelly set her knife down and shoved her hand into Lilith’s chest, ripping her heart out. Lilith let out another howl of agony.
Lilith’s eyes were barely staying open when she saw Nelly take a huge bite into her heart. She watched as her own blood splattered all over her, Nelly, and the blankets. She watched as Nelly's eyes fluttered close in pleasure, just like Lilith’s did when she bit into the chicken heart.
Nelly saw that Lilith was staring at her and her own heart intently. She smiled, licked her fingers off of the blood and said, “It tastes marvelous.”
Lilith just nodded.
“And don’t worry Lily, I’ll get rid of both yours and your mothers body for you. I’ll take that off your plate for you.” Nelly smiled, like she was actually helping.
“H-how?” Lilith stuttered, knowing that her time was up.
“I’m gonna feed you to the rats.” Nelly smiled, taking another bite into Lilith’s heart.
As Lilith's eyes slowly fluttered shut and her body gave out, she had only one thought left on her mind.
Which ones?
Thank you for reading my friends short story!
Dark Short Story
Hey! Sorry, but this doesn't have anything to do with my story Little Dove, but my one friend had to write a short story during school and is very shy. So we talked and I asked if it was OK to post it on Tumblr and we decided to give it a try! This is the very first piece of writing that my friend was actually proud of and wanted to "share it with the world." It is a dark story and I won't give it all away, but I will put warnings up. So if this is something that you would be interested in, please let us know! It will still be posted either way, but we just wanted to see who was all interested in it or not.

Chapter Warnings: Talk of death by giving birth by a menace (Dr. Gaul).
“Jessup!”
No! What are you doing? Run!
Coriolanus sat, watching in fear as Rosalie Jade frantically looked around to find Jessup. And when she did find him, he could only sit still as he watched her try to run to Jessup all while trying to escape all of the horrors of the Bloodbath.
“Jessup! Come on, we gotta go!” She yelled at the unaware boy.
Coriolanus glared at the screen in front of him, shaking with fury as he was forced to watch his poor little sister try to save someone who just wasn’t worth saving. Jessup wasn’t even standing when she had gotten to him! He didn’t seem aware of his surroundings, he could barely stand by himself, he could hardly even walk by himself without Rosalie Jade’s help. There was no point in trying to save him. He was just a lamb ready to be slaughtered.
Just let him go and hide.
But Rosalie Jade did no such thing. Rather, she pushed Jessup to his feet and dragged him along to go to the place that Coriolanus had told her about. She saw the divot in the ground a few feet before her and knew that was what he had to have been talking about. So she tried her hardest to get herself and Jessup there, but it just wasn't enough. Coral and her group were gaining on them and they looked bloodthirsty. She tried to pick up the pace, but it wasn't doing them any good. She frantically started to look around before she came to the simple conclusion. They were going to die.
Rosalie Jade had completely stopped moving, quickly whispered something in Jessup's ears, who seemed to have become aware of his surroundings, and he ran.
“What's wrong little songbird? You not gonna fight?” Coral taunted Rosalie Jade.
By now, there was no one else out in the open of the arena, and if they were, they were either in Coral's pact or were dead. The handful that got away all hid in safety, something Rosalie Jade should have done.
“I ain't gonna fight you, Coral. Not anyone of ya’.” Rosalie Jade told the group, cautiously moving closer to them.
“Yeah? Well we're gonna fight you!” Coral yelled, running towards Rosalie Jade.
No!
And within a second, Coral stopped, shooting the trident she had gotten from the Cornucopia right at Rosalie Jade's heart, causing the beautiful golden fork to fly right into her teammate’s chest.
Tanner let out a dreadful scream, his hand weakly gripping onto the trident, eyes looking up at Coral in fear.
What?
Everyone was confused. Coriolanus, the students, Lucky, Coral. Hell, even Gaul was confused. How did Rosalie Jade not get hit, but Tanner did?
Then out of nowhere, Rosalie Jade stood up from behind Tanner and pulled the trident out of him, causing him to scream yet again as she whisper yelled a small, ‘I'm sorry’ to him and then threw the trident straight at Coral's arm.
Rosalie Jade had shocked everyone. She had seen Tanner coming up behind her to trap her in between him and the rest of the pack. So when Coral started to run at her and stopped to throw the trident at her, she had simply ducked, in turn killing Tanner. Then, while Coral was still confused, she took the trident and shot it at her perfectly and quickly ran down to Jessup.
“Ahhh! You fucking bitch! Get her!” Coral hollered at Mizzen and Treech. But it was too late. The cameras had already shown Rosalie Jade pushing Jessup into a safe place, closely following him and hitting a brick over a lonesome tribute's head, stopping her from getting in.
Everyone stared in disbelief at what she had done, let alone gotten away. This little twelve year old girl had a hand in a tribute's death, took the murder weapon out of his body, apologized for it, shot the weapon at another tribute, got herself and her friend to safety, and to top it all off, had struck another tribute over the head to stop them from getting in. That, in itself, seemed to frighten the other student mentors watching while it baffled Coriolanus.
She said she had no other skills and that she didn't want to kill anyone. So how the hell did she perfectly throw that trident at Coral’s arm? She could have easily missed or thrown it at a more deadly area and how did she se-
His thoughts were quickly cut off by hearing one of his classmates, Domitia Whimsiwick, violently puke after watching tributes, along with her own, get brutally murdered.
“Now if you are watching this at home, that was a very graphic and disgusting thing that just happened. So kids, never do this to one another,” Lucky somberly told the camera, “And Miss. Whimsiwick, if you are going to get sick, please do it elsewhere. Now, you can still make bets and change them if you would like Now that e-len-ven tributes are out of the Games. We will be back when there is more action for us to see. And that was the Bloodbath of the 10th Hunger Games.” With that, the screen cut to the Panem symbol and the anthem played.
“Someone please clean that up and if your tribute died, please get up and go to the audience,” Lucky announced, “God, that smell is putrid.” Lucky cringed, gagging.
Coriolanus looked around to see who had all gotten out, and indeed, eleven mentors went into the audience, and when he looked into the audience, he saw Tigris. She looked so sad, having watched kids kill And fight each other. But something else caught his eyes, Gaul. She was talking to one of her gamemakers and nodding to her when she caught Coriolanus’ eye. She smirked at him and nodded towards the screen, proudly.
She’s proud of me. Rosalie Jade caught her attention and she's proud of me!
Gaul was indeed proud of Coriolanus. He had gotten this innocent young girl to chase another tribute to die and hurt another's. But that wasn't the main reason she was proud right now. No, not because of Coriolanus, but of herself.
For the Peacekeepers had found their lost tribute, and she had the perfect welcome back plan for him.
“You might want to get your friend out of here, Mr. Snow.”
What?
It had only been around three hours since the Games had officially started and not much had happened since the Bloodbath. Every now and then, a few tributes would come out of hiding to see if there was anything left in the Cornucopia that could help them, but quickly went back into hiding after seeing Reaper stalking up in the stands. The only tribute that didn’t back down was the girl from District 7, Lamina. She was perched on top of a beam, lying peacefully, for her and Reaper seemed to have made an unspoken agreement, ‘you don’t try to kill me, I don’t try to kill you’. So far, it was working, to the displeasure of the Capitol. They wanted to see death and destruction, and all they were getting was Lamina sunbathing and Reaper angrily staring into the cameras.
Coral and her group seemingly disappeared after the accidental killing of Tanner. Everyone was still in shock at Rosalie Jade’s quick reflexes and thinking. People had thought that she would be one of the first to go during Bloodbath, hence the pity donations. But after her stunt, more donations were raking in, but not from pity, but from the sheer desire to see the young girl bring more death to the arena. The lonesome district girl was the last death to happen in the arena and it was clear that the Capitol wanted more deaths to come from the small girl. But they were proven disappointed when all that she did was comfort and calm Jessup down in the vents.
“He might not like what he’s going to see next.”
Ah, right. Dealing with the anxiety of what might happen to Rosalie Jade and not being able to do most anything to help her if something were to go wrong, Coriolanus now had to deal with Highbottom’s cryptic warnings.
“I beg your pardon?” Coriolanus questioned, but was soon answered by the loud sound of a crash.
“YOU’RE MONSTERS! ALL OF YOU!” Sejanus roared out, face scrunched in anger.
Confused and shocked, Coriolanus looked over at the incompetent fool and saw what Highbottom and Sejanus were referring to. The lost tribute, Marcus, had been found and a helicopter was slowly lowering his bloody and tortured body down while he was literally hanging on by a thread. A pure white rope was wrapped around his hands, slightly tinted pink where his hands met the rope. The rope wasn’t tied very tight, but Marcus wasn’t putting up much of a fight to get out. He looked like he was on the brink of death.
Sejanus had just finished throwing his temper tantrum and had stormed out when the loose rope had broken, and Marcus had fallen right onto the beam next to Lamina. The soft sound of bones breaking could be heard as Marcus landed. Lamina looked at the boy’s broken body and gripped her axe. She looked over to Reaper who was staring right at her, not nodding his head or shaking it, just staring at her. When she looked back down at Marcus, he was already staring at her, nodding his head, giving her the, ‘it’s ok’ sign.
By now, the noise had caused Coral and her group to come out of hiding to see what all the ruckus was. They watched from a distance, trying to decide if they wanted to try to kill Lamina or not. Lamina noticed them almost immediately and wanted them gone. So, as a warning, she looked down at Marcus, who had closed his eyes, and swiftly brought down her axe, killing him in one motion.
“Yes!” Pliny, or “Pup”, Harington, cheered out for his tribute.
But Lamina didn’t stop there. No. Marcus was already dead when she brought her axe down again and again, chopping at his neck a total of five times, with the first being the only one that actually killed him. She held onto his hair, and when she was done, she stood up and took the head, throwing it in the general direction of Coral’s group.
“Oh!” the audience called out.
While Coral smirked at her, she regretted asking her to join her group because she thought she wouldn’t be strong enough or have the guts to kill anyone, but she was easily proven wrong by Lamina’s actions. The rest of her group looked away from the head, gagging and trying not to throw up. Coral quickly turned on her heels, knowing that if they were to try and attack Lamina right now, she would have the advantages of knowing they were there, the high ground, and an adrenaline rush. They would need to sneak up on her and surprise her if they wanted better odds of killing her.
As the group ran away Lamina looked back towards Reaper, but he was nowhere to be found. When she heard shuffling below her, she saw that Reper had collected Marcus’s head and was looking up at her, waiting. Confused for a moment, she gripped her axe again to show him that if he wanted to fight, she would fight back. Reaper shook his head in response, pointing towards Marcus’s body. She raised her eyebrow and moved closer to the body and nodded her head towards it. Reaper nodded back in response. She looked at him like he was crazy and then cautiously pushed the beheaded body down onto the ground, landing it right in front of Reaper’s feet.
He looked back up at her and tipped his hat to her as a ‘thank you’. Lamina just nodded back, still confused with Reaper and his actions. She watched as he dragged Marcus’s and the other dead bodies to the bottom of the Cornucopia, laying them in a line.
He’s making a grave.
Everyone watching was shocked. No tribute has ever made a grave for the other tributes before. It was unheard of, unthinkable. And yet, here was Reaper Ash, doing the unthinkable. When he finished putting them all in a line, he looked down at them again, deciding that Marcus should get his own little spot a bit farther away from the others, as an honor of escaping and of his brutal torture and death. When he completed putting Marcus in his own little area, he looked back up at Lamina, staring right into her soul. She looked back at him and scooted back a bit. And when Reaper finally looked away and started to head back to his spot, she put her head down in guilt, knowing that she didn’t kill Marcus out of pity like he wanted, but out of self gain so Coral and her group wouldn’t come at her.
“Now, was it a mercy kill or for self gain? We may never know,” Lucky softly remarked, “Now if you want to change your bets, do it while you can! Betting closes tonight, but you can always donate throughout the whole Game!” Lucky beamed.
“Woo! Go Lamina!” Pup cheered, sending water and an apple to his tribute.
Instantly, everyone’s attention was on the screen. This would be the first time to see if Coriolanus’ drone idea would work. It took a few minutes for the drones to get there. The first one was carrying the water and was headed straight towards Lamina. Stirred by the noise, she lifted her head and saw the drone at her. She heard another sound and looked behind her, seeing the second drone carrying the apple. She smiled and went to the edge of the beam towards the drone holding the water since it was closer, but her smile quickly dropped when she realized that the drones weren’t slowing down. Just in the nick of time, she lowered her head and covered it with her hands, causing the two drones to crash into each other. Both the water and the apple had been lost because of the crash.
“Hey! It almost hit her!” Pup shouted. Lucky just shrugged at him.
“Will she get another water and apple?” Pup demanded.
“Depends, do you want to spend more of your donations?” Highbottom asked.
“What? No! That’s not fair!” Pup yelled at him.
“Life’s not fair, Mr. Harrington.” Highbottom reminded the angry boy, causing him to yell out and sit down with his arms crossed, very pissed off.
Well good thing no one knows the drones were my idea, just the donations with the food and water.
Coriolanus looked back to Gaul, feeling her burning holes into the back of his head. But when he looked back, he saw the proudness and glee in her eyes. He wasn’t fooled by it this time, though. No. He watched her nod her head towards the screen again, just like she did after Rosalie Jade had killed that girl tribute, just like she did after talking to her gamemaker. He understands now. He knows he wasn’t the reason she was proud. He never was.
And he was going to change that.
Walking home in the summer was never something that Coriolanus enjoyed, but walking home in the summer at night, now that was something he did. It was calming for Coriolanus, having the wind lighting blowing on his face always cooled him down on the hot summer days and ever since the war, the nights were the only time in the Capitol that ever brought Comroilanus peace. There would always be small groups of people who would sneak around and party at night, but other than that, Coriolanus could think in peace. And Coriolanus needed all the time he could get to think.
How did she even know Tanner there? Hell, I didn’t even realize he was there! It was like she saw him or heard him like he was some sort of predator trying to catch her, his prey. Or was she the hunter, and Tanner was the unaware prey? She threw the trident right Coral’s arm, but didn’t throw it to where it would cause her to lose her arm. All she did was put three holes in Coral’s arm. She had perfect aim and could have easily killed her. So why-
“Coriolanus!” Coriolanus quickly looked behind him after being hollered for.
Mrs. Plinth?
“Coriolanus! Oh, Coriolanus. Please, where is he?” Mrs. Plinth worriedly questioned.
“What? Where is who Mrs. Plinth?” Coriolanus just wanted to go home after his monster of a day and Mrs. Plinth hounding him with stupid and vague questions was pissing him off.
“Sejanus! Where is my Sejanus?” She asked anxiously, trying to keep her voice down so as to not wake people up, but failing.
Coriolanus shook his head, “I haven't seen him since he ran off after Marcus got dropped into the arena.”
Her face paled.
“Oh,” She croaked out, “Oh dear. That's not good.”
Pale and softly swaying left and right, she looked as if she was going to pass out.
Coriolanus fights off an eye roll when she looks left and right to see if anyone was still out. Some homes were lit as a result of her distress.
“Maybe he's home already? Came back when you were looking for him. Have you checked your apartment yet?” Coriolanus questions her.
“I did, but not since I left looking for him a few hours ago. Maybe you are right, I should go look there.” She mumbled, almost talking to herself.
“Then how about I take you inside and you can go look for him there. Yeah? Great!” Corilanus cut her off before hse could even start talking, the time to be a friendly neighbor was over. It was time for him to figure out how to save his little sister now.
Coriolanus put his hand on her shoulder, gently pushing her towards their apartment building. He had not realized that he had walked home so quickly and that they were only a handful of homes and buildings away from their homes. As they got closer to their destination, he noticed someone waiting outside.
“Tigris?” Coriolanus called out.
“Oh! There you are Coriolanus! I was starting to wor-” Tigris announced, but quickly cut herself off, instantly running to Mrs. Plinth’s side, “Oh, Mrs. Plinth, are you ok? What happened?”
And, oh, how that set her off. Balling her eyes out, Tigris quickly hurried her inside so no one would be woken up by her wails for her lost son.
Coriolanus rolled his eyes, bitterly thinking about how now Mrs. Plinth knew of the Snow’s misfortune. She just had to let her come inside. She couldn’t stay home alone after not finding her son there. ‘No Coryo, it wouldn’t be right’. The second Tigris had said those words, he knew that he had yet another person to worry about keeping their family secret. How he hated Tigris and her empathic heart sometime.
“I j-just don’t know where h-he could be.” Mrs. Plinth sniffled. She had finally stopped crying by now and was just complaining about her lost son now.
“Nor do I know where my tea is, maid!” Grandma’am shouted.
Grandma’am. The only thing making this situation better, or rather funny. She had been hounding Mrs. Plinth down for stuff the second Tigris led her into the barely functioning penthouse. First it was about the laundry that hadn’t been done in two weeks, then she wanted her son’s bedding changed, stating that no man should sleep on those disgusting sheets. Now it was about her nighttime tea.
“Grandma’am, I told you, this is Mrs. Pli-”
“I don’t care who she is! I want my tea!” Grandma’am cut Tigris off swiftly, flailing her arms around like a toddler not getting the thing they wanted at the store.
“Maybe I should go.” Mrs. Plinth murmured, grabbing her robe. In Grandma’am’s defense, Mrs. Plinth was wearing a long, blue nightgown that had most definitely seen better days. It had ragged edges and holes on the bottom. It must have been one of things she brought from District Two. She truly was dressed like a servant made for a Capitolite.
“No!” Tigris called out, causing everyone to look at her, “Please, stay. I can’t imagine what you are going through right now. I don’t know what I would do if poor Coryo here was lost. Please, just stay.” Tigris softly told the odd woman out. Mrs. Plinth looked down at her robe and up at Tigris again. She saw how her eyes were shining with hope, to that, she slowly stepped back towards the living room, away from everyone else. She watched as Tigris’ faced slowly dropped, but she just wanted to go home now and see if her son was finally there now. Besides, she, just like everyone else, can and will never know what someone hopes for. Whether it be good or bad.
Tigris went to open her mouth to speak when she was cut off again, this time by the phone ringing.
RING!
RING!
Coriolanus looked towards Tigris and her face mirrored his. Confusion.
Who could possibly be calling at this time?
RING!
Pushing past Mrs. Plinth, consequently allowing her to get farther away from the kitchen, Coriolanus walked over to the ringing phone.
RI-
“Hello?”
“You’ve got a problem and I need you to fix it.” The voice demanded.
Gaul.
“What?” Coriolanus asked, “D-did something happen to Rosalie Jade?” Coriolanus quickly added, thinking of all the horrible things that could have happened to her.
“Not yet. And if you want to keep it that way, I suggest that you get down here and fix. it.” Gaul harshly barked out.
Is she threatening my sister ?
“I’m sorry Dr. Gaul, but until you tell me what I ‘need to fix,’ I can’t help you.” Coriolanus snapped back just as harshly.
No one threatens a Snow.
Gaul let out a breathy laugh, and just when she went to answer, Coriolanus heard Grandma’am yelling for her tea again.
Now she’s just doing it for attention. She hates tea.
Coriolanus turns around quickly to tell her to try to be quiet since he was on the phone, but when he turns around, all he sees is Mrs. Plinth's pale face. She looked like she saw a ghost and was about to cry again. And when he follows her eyes, he knows why. On the small T.V. screen that the Snow’s were just barely holding on to, there is a shadow covering Marcus’ lone body. But it wasn’t just a shadow, no. It was Sejanus.
“Oh my God.” Coriolanus muttered in shock.
He seriously didn't think this one through.
“Have you figured out your problem yet, Mr. Snow?” Gaul taunted.
Coriolanus gulped, “Yes.”
“Good. We need someone to get him out of there,” Gaul was clearly annoyed by all of this, “He bribed some dull Peacekeeper and the second I find the one who did, well I’ve been wanting a new pet to play with.” Gaul growled out while bitterly laughing out the last part. It was very clear how furious she was, Coriolanus didn’t even know that one’s life could be threatened with something worse than death before he met Gaul. Now he was regretting being so short with her not just even a minute ago.
“Who do you want to g-get him? I have his mother next to me now if you want.” Coriolanus cursed himself for stuttering in front of her.
“Well we wouldn’t want him getting scared and him running on us like a terrified little bunny, now would we?” Gaul chuckled.
Fuck.
“You want me to get him?” Coriolanus timidly asked.
“What a great idea Coriolanus! What a wonderful best friend you must be!” Gaul sarcastically let out, or maybe she was being truthful, Coriolanus would never know.
“I am going to freeze the screens when you go in. You have exactly an hour to get him out otherwise people might start asking questions as to why the screens black.”
“How is this safe, though? How will I get ou-” Coriolanus anxiously started asking the crazy scientist before she cut her off.
“You will be fine. There will be Peacekeepers there to make sure no tributes get out. You will go out the way you came in. Easy peasy.” He could hear her smile through the phone, the smile that proved that she didn’t care if he got hurt, or rather died, or not.
“Listen to me, Coriolanus. Do not mess this up. I fear that my Games may be coming to an end and I need you to help me fix them.” Gaul seriously stated, and with that, she hung up the phone.
Coriolanus just put the phone back down in shock. Grandma’am had been whisked away to her room by Tigris the second she saw Sejanus on the screen. Tigris was now holding Mrs. Plinth in a comforting way, but it was no use, she was petrified for her son’s life.
Tigris looked up at Coriolanus, “Who was that?”
“Dr. Gaul.” This got Mrs. Plinth’s attention.
“She wants someone to get him, doesn’t she?” She asked, standing up, causing Tigris’ hand to fall out of hers. Tigris reached for hers again, but Mrs. Plinth was already in front of Coriolanus. “I’ll do it. I’ll go in.” She confidently told him as if she wasn’t just about to have another mental breakdown just seconds ago.
“No, you can’t! You could get hurt or die!” Tigris nervously told the older woman.
“I have to, he’s my son.” Mrs. Plinth told the younger girl.
Coriolanus just shook his head, “No, you’re not going into the arena to get Sejanus. Gaul doesn’t want you to.”
Tigris looked at him confused, “What do you mean she doesn’t want her to?”
“She wants me. I’m going into the arena.”
She needs my help. She needs me.
“You’re getting that damned kid out?” The Peacekeeper looked Coriolanus up and down in disbelief.
“Yes, so could you open the doors the second you see us, I wouldn’t like to be killed by any of those animals.” Coriolanus snapped. Of course he didn’t mean his Rosalie Jade, no. She was an angel sent from Heaven for him. But this Peacekeeper was starting to piss him off. He had been giving him a hard time since the beginning. First he wasn’t allowed to bring in anything to protect himself and now they won’t even keep the doors open for him.
“Ahm.” The Peacekeeper nodded his head, covering his mouth with his hand, stifling his laugh.
Coriolanus rolled his eyes and started to walk towards the entrance of the arena. He looked back at the Peacekeeper and nodded, signing for him to open the gates. The second they opened, Coriolanus knew he fucked up. A red alarm started blinking, temporarily blinding him, and when Coriolanus took his first few steps in, he was sure the entire arena knew someone new was in here.
“Enjoy The Show!”
Shit.
Coriolanus had completely forgotten about that stupid voice that went off every time someone entered the arena.
Well if they didn't know someone was in here, they do now.
Coriolanus knew that he needed to be fast, faster than he first intended when he entered the arena. The animals would sniff him out soon and without anything to protect himself with, he's just prey standing in their open jaws, waiting for them to close down on him and end his mundane and insignificant life.
Coriolanus’ eyes searched the arena, determined to find Sejanus. And that he did.
With his back to the door, Sejanus was still kneeling in front of Marcus’ headless body. As Coriolanus hurried over to Sejanus trying to be as quiet as possible, stepping over a broken bow and shattered glass from the bombing, he saw a bag of bread crumbs and heard sniffling.
“Sejanus!” Coriolanus whisper yelled.
The kneeling boy flinched and snapped his head to look at Coriolanus, “I thought they would've sent my Ma.”
CLICK!
Coriolanus looked to his left immediately, hearing a sound only one of the tributes could have made in this desert of an arena. “Yeah, well I wished they did.” Coriolanus muttered. He was starting to rethink his choice to come and get Sejanus and how he wishes he let her do it instead of him.
“What are you doing Sejanus? It's not safe here, we have to go.” Coriolanus tried to usher the boy up, but he was as still as a rock.
“I'm spreading breadcrumbs over his body. In Two we believe it helps with the journey to the afterlife.” Sejanus mumbled. He truly was hurt from the loss of his friend, even if he didn't consider him a friend anymore.
“What do you think this is going to accomplish Sejanus? Do you really think that you’re helping anyone right now?” Coriolanus kneeled down to his level, trying to get him to think rationally.
“Yes, I am Coryo. When people see-”
CLUNK!
“You really think Gual is going to let anyone see this? Huh? See how an 18 year old Capitolite rebel bribed a Peacekeeper to get into the arena just to spread breadcrumbs on a dead and headless body all because of some District tradition just to be killed by animals?” Coriolanus didn't intend to be so harsh, but he knew that the animals were starting to close in on them.
“They're not ani-”
Coriolanus put his hand up, shutting Sejanus up. “No. Gaul paused the feed the second she saw you in here. No one is ever going to know we were in here. You die here and she'll tell everyone it was from the flu.”
Sejanus looked down in guilt, “I'm so sorry Coryo. I never meant for you to get involved. I just wanted to make a change and help them!” Sejanus sobbed out.
SCREECH!
They were getting ready to pounce, Coriolanus was sure of it. “You want to help right? Well you're not going to be able to do anything if you're dead,” Coriolanus reasoned with him,“You're rich, you have money and influence. Use it. You can't change anything here except the day you die. You want to help do it out there.” Sejanus just looked at Coriolanus and nodded, finally standing up.
“Now let's get out of here Se-”
“Ahhhhhhh!”
“Get them!”
“Kill ‘em!”
Suddenly, voices screamed out and the boys quickly realized that it was Coral and her little posse and they were running straight at them, weapons raised.
“Run!” Coriolanus pushed Sejanus forward, pulling him out of his shock and they both ran as fast as they could to the exit.
Run.
Make it out alive.
To Grandma'am.
To Tigris.
For Rosalie Jade.
THUMP!
Coriolanus looked to his right only to see that Sejanus had tripped right over something.
Seriously dumbass?!
He quickly reached down to help him get up but instantly felt pain in the back of his left arm.
“Ahh!”
Coriolanus then noticed that the dumbass didn't fall over something, but rather someone .
The young male tribute quickly got up and started to attack Coriolanus while Sejanus ran for the exit to get help. “Help! Someone, we need help!”
“Fuck! Get off!” Coriolanus grunted and used all his might to push him off. They both stood up and the tribute started to swing his knife at him and managed to get him on his arm again. Coriolanus dodged the few more swings the tribute gave, but the second he saw Coral and her group gaining on him, he pounced onto the boy and started to deliver brutal punches to his face.
POW!
POW!
POW!
He looked to his left and saw that they were closer now. He looked down and saw that the boy's face was bloodied and disfigured, almost like one of Gual's mutts. He looked back to his left, but something cut his eye before he could even see where they were now.
A large piece of rubble that had a pipe coming out of the top. It was like Thor's hammer, Mjölnir, calling Coriolanus’ name.
He hastily got up and picked up the makeshift hammer. He could hear their running feet and panting getting closer. He could smell their sweat and blood radiating off of them, but he didn't care. Just like Lamina, he chose self gain.
WHACK!
SMASH!
WHAM!
The boy was dead. He had been since Coriolanus had obliterated his face with his fist, causing him to lose too much blood along with his dehydration. But the feeling of hitting the boy over and over again was fucking euphoric for Coriolanus. He couldn't stop, not when he felt this good, this powerful.
CLICK!
“Coryo!”
Shit.
Sejanus finally registered the fact that Coriolanus hadn't followed him and quickly ran back to him to pull him off the dead boy right before Treech started an axe at him.
Running for their lives yet again, the boys ran at full speed, determined not to die. They saw the gates open and quickly ran through them and they closed right before any tribute could get through.
Holy shit.
“You better keep an eye on that songbird of yours!” Coral yelled out, causing Coriolanus’ eye to twitch at the threat. He knew if he even looked at the hollering beast he would end up doing something stupid. But he wouldn't forget about her threat to his little sister.
Bending over himself, Coriolanus panted as he watched Sejanus run into his mother's loving arms.
When the hell did she get here?
Eventually looking up, feeling someone glaring holes into the back of his head, he looked up to see the two different colored harsh eyes of Dr. Gual. She was standing next to Mr. Plinth and neither one of them looked happy. Deciding to look elsewhere, he caught Mrs. Plinth's eye and she smiled at him and then quickly escorted herself and her son into the car waiting for them.
Coriolanus tried to stand tall when he looked towards Mr. Plinth but the ache in his arm didn't agree with him. He sucked in a breath of pain and looked towards Gaul who motioned for him to get into the waiting car to his left.
Looking back at the both of them, he saw the check being given to Gaul from Mr. Plinth. He sat down in the car, driving away with one thought in his head.
Are you proud of me now?
“Did you see it?”
Coriolanus was currently in the hands of Dr. Gaul. She was the one nursing the cuts that he had gotten from the arena. She, the most merciless human being to be alive that let one of her own students get bit by her own monstrous creations, was caring for him.
“What?” Corioanus was confused. He was barely keeping his tears in from the pain. The pain from his arm and the pain for that fact that he actually did kill that boy. The guilt was starting to catch up to him and being grilled questions by Gaul wasn't helping.
“Mankind.” Gaul pulled the stitch tightly, causing Coriolanus to suck in a breath.
“Now who would have thought that Crassus' Snow's baby boy would be fighting for his life in the arena he made.”
What?
“I thought that-”
“And I thought that you would have finally understood after seeing it in person, but I suppose I was wrong.” Gaul spoke over him.
“I don't understand? What do you mean, humanity?” Coriolanus obviously wasn't going to get a direct answer about his father from the mad scientist, but he could at least try the other question she asked him, seeing as she wouldn't let it go.
“That boy, the one you kil-” Gaul started, but Coriolanus didn't let her finish, pissed that she even mentioned the now dead tribute.
“How does that have anythi-” Coriolanus sucked another breath in, cutting himself off as she yet again pulled the stitch too tight, clearly annoyed that he cut her off.
“You going back to that already dead boy, repeatedly smashing his skull open when you didn't need to, was true mankind. Mankind in its raw and natural state. Where boys are willing to beat each other to the death just on the pure hope that in the end, they will live, or rather win.” She pulled the last stitch tight, signaling that she still had something to say, and tied it up.
“You didn't need to go back and beat him to the pulp. Imagine what your little dove would say? She would be mortified and so disappointed.” Just like Highbottom, Dr. Gaul had seen the way Coriolanus acted and looked at Rosalie Jade, and what he had called her. But unlike Highbottom, she intended to use this to her advantage and mold Coriolanus into her perfect successor. Coriolanus already fit most of her molds. She just needed his mind to be in the right spot, out of his heart and into his head.
Coriolanus’ tears had finally fallen at the mention of her. If she had witnessed that and seen what he had done to the boy, Coriolanus wouldn't know what he would do to himself. She wouldn't ever want to see him again, and after feeling the warmth that she brought him, there was no way in Hell that he was going back to living his cold and cruel life. Not without her.
“I suppose you should be getting home now, your poor cousin must be worried sick.” She patted his back as a sign to ‘get the fuck out’ and she stood up, walking over to her mutts.
Coriolanus hurriedly buttoned his shirt back up and was careful to not pull his stitches doing so. He stood up and looked over to Dr. Gaul with the intent to thank her for her fixing the wounds she had caused, but he stopped himself when he saw her looking at a mutt she was taunting.
That one's new.
It had to have been a person at one point, Coriolanus knew that much. He could see the remnants of melted skin, and he could smell it too. It smelt ghastly. The thing had finger nails coming out of what was left of its hand every which way. It had no eyes, rather an endless hole of darkness that would lead you to nowhere. It was twitching every so often and Coriolanus wondered how it was still even alive. How any of those disgusting mutts were still alive.
“Can you believe that I studied to be a midwife, helping mothers deliver their precious tiny humans into this unforgiving world while some take their own mothers life just for their own self gain?” She randomly announced, still looking at the new mutt.
Coriolanus just headed closer to the door, not liking how this new conversation made him think of his late mother.
“What a boring world we would be living in if I had continued too.” She slowly turned around looking towards Coriolanus questioningly.
Coriolanus just stared at the mad woman for a moment, before giving his thanks.
“Thank you, Dr. Gaul.” With that, he quickly turned on his heel and left the nightmare of a lab hurriedly.
Gaul just smiled. For she knew exactly what he was truly thanking her for.
“Coryo! Oh thank God!” Tigris quickly ran to Coriolanus’, checking to see if he was OK and that he didn't get hurt.
“What happened in there? What took so long?” She asked when she saw him wince after she touched his arm.
“I'm fine Tigris, a tribute got me on my arm, but Dr. Gaul fixed it up.” He calmed her down as best as he could, but she just would let up. Her baby cousin was hurt and she needed to help him.
After getting him some tea, making sure that the kettle didn't scream so as to not wake Grandma’am up, she finally asked him the question that had been in the back of her mind.
“What happened to the tribute? The one that hurt you.” She whispered to him.
Coriolanus’ eyes met hers and she knew instantly. But their eyes didn't match. While hers showed remorse and even guilt , the only thing in Coriolanus’ eyes were annoyance and power.
“Tigris, he almost killed me. I-I…There was nothing else I could do. I didn't mean to, it was like my mind was on autopilot and I wasn't going to die in there. It wasn't supposed to happen, and, yeah I felt bad, but it also just felt so…so powerful .” Coriolanus ranted, almost feeling as though he needed to explain himself. And when he finally finished, he looked back at Tigris. Oh how he wished he hadn't.
“Coriolanus, when I look in your eyes, all I see is Him right now,” she motioned towards the large glass painting of Crassus Snow overhanging the front door, “All that was in his eyes were hate and greed. You don't have to be like him. You're a good person. You are good. You don't need to be him, please.” She desperately told him, holding onto his good arm.
He just nodded his head at her, just wanting to skip this lecture. He knew he wanted to be his father, he hated his father. Why would he want to be something he hates?
So the two young Snow's walked into their respected bedrooms without the knowledge that their lives would forever be changed after tomorrow, never to be the same all because of a 12 year old.
“Tigris! Do you know where my other pair of pants are?” Coriolanus yelled out, frantically searching his room. He had already worn this pair of pants for almost a whole week and it was starting to become obvious. There was still a tiny dirt stain left on the left knee of the pants from when he fell into the monkey exhibit on the day he was reunited with his little sister. He had watched Tigris struggle to get the stain out that evening, but the small amount of dirt was persistent. While, thankfully the uniform ordered skirt just covered the spot, it was still annoying and shameful for Coriolanus to look at every time he sat down. The skirt riding up just slightly enough that only he could see how the Snow’s couldn’t even afford to clean their own clothes.
“No, I’m sorry Coryo. I haven’t been able to get to the cleaners in a while,” Tigris apologized as she came into his room, looking down in guilt. “Maybe I can visit the Plinths tonight after we get home. I’m sure they would allow us to use their washer machines. They’re both such lovely people.” She said happily, quickly exiting his room, telling him that they were going to be late.
As Coriolanus dressed quickly, he started to wonder about Tigris. Was she ok? Her moods have been changing like a switch, sad then happy, angry then calm. She would be fine one minute then freaking the fuck out the next. As he finished tying up his shoes and walked out to find Tigris humming to herself, he realized something. She would only act like this around the Plinths . Her mood would always change around Plinths . But she was fine around Sejanus, so why not his mother and father?
As the two of them walked out of their barely surviving apartment building and started their walk to The Hall to watch the Games, Coriolanus was just thinking of one simple thing.
What the fuck did the Plinths do for Tigris to like them so much.
“It seems that during the night, Bobbin was mercilessly slayed by one of the beasts in the arena. Unfortunately, the cameras weren’t working properly last night and we weren’t able to see which beast it was that killed him, or rather beasts. Was it Coral and her group or was it perhaps Lamina? Maybe she came down from her beam and decided to continue her little killing spree. We will never know.”
Coriolanus was finally able to calm down after Lucky’s little rant. No one was able to see the cameras to see what truly happened. No one knew Coriolanus and Sejanus were in the arena last night. No one knew Coriolanus killed someone.
“And it looks like someone is just waking up on this lovely morning,” Coriolanus looked up to see that Lucky was referring to Lamina who was looking quite scared at the moment, “Unfortunately for her, others have been up just a tad longer than her.” Lucky joked, as everyone watched Coral and her group taunt and tease Lamina with their weapons.
Lamina stood up, gripping her axe in her hand tightly. She looked down to see Coral tell Circ something and she watched as he started to climb up the beam she had found a safe place on. Coral obviously couldn’t climb up the beam with her arm and Coriolanusu smiled at that.
As he watched Circ get closer and closer to Lamina, he noticed Treech climbing up the other side, gaining on an oblivious Lamina. He watched in realization that Lamina had been set up to die. If she were to fight off Circ, she would be left vulnerable to Treech and vice versa. She was too high up to jump, and even if she did, Coral and Mizzen were waiting for her at the bottom if she didn’t die from the impact.
It seemed that as soon as Coriolanus figured this out, so did Pup.
“No! Lamina! Watch out!” Pup cried out to no one.
But it was too late. Lamina had chosen to fight Circ, unaware of the danger behind her. As she went to swing her axe at Circ, Treech grabbed her hand and swung his own axe. In one swift move, he cut off her hand, causing her to let out a scream of pain and betrayal. He quickly pushed her off the beam, feeding her to the beasts below.
“And to think that they were from the same District. They really do have no remorse, do they?” Lucky asked the audience.
“Whoo! One down, only-”
SPLAT!
And with that, Treech had pushed Circ right off the beam, letting him fall right onto Coral’s waiting trident.
“Woah! Plot twist! Did anyone see that coming? I didn’t, did you?” Lucky joked to Io Jasper in shock. “Well you know what that means everyone! It’s time to say bye Mr. Harrington and Mr. Jasper! Byeee!”
Both students stomped over to the audience section, annoyed by the events that had just happened.
Coriolanus counted up in his how many tributes were left.
Rosalie Jade, Coral, Treech, Mizzen, Reaper, Dill, Teslee, Sol, Hy, Panlo…Shit who else? Oh yeah, fucking Jessup and Wovey. Ok, she only has 11 more. Everyone else was either killed before the Games or during the “Blood Bath.”
“With only 12 tributes left, who do you think is going to win?” Lucky questioned as the cameras cut out.

Update
Hey guys! So unfortunately Chapter Five won't come put by the end of this week or the next. School has been very stressful lately with the end coming up and finals. I haven't been able to find write because of school itself and studying. I'm really sorry, but I do have a little sneak peak for Chapter Five to hopefully make up for it. Sorry again!
“Jessup!”
Coriolnus glared at the screen in front of him, shaking with fury as he was forced to watch his poor little sister try to save someone who just wasn’t worth saving.
She saw the divet in the ground a few feet before her and knew that was what he had to have been talking about.
No!
