Alex wanted a costume for a magical forest party, this is what we came up with!
Preservation Society compatriot representing at Farmfest last weekend - check her out on this blog, second one down 'festival perfection' price tags included.
Yurts out for the weekend.
Made a wooden lampshade, house has been re-wired and there’s bare bulbs everywhere.
Installed a flashing kit from Champion Stove Company, it was very easy to fit and now we can have fire inside the yurt. I have got a Wildo wood-burning stove which is ex-military and has a flat top perfect for cooking on. As well as keeping you warm on a cold night you can also cook breakfast, lunch and tea.
Here is a picture of the completed yurt at last, nearly a year later, with Jimmy on guard
ONE DAY TO GO! Tomorrow we will be setting up shop south of the river in The New Cross Inn. You can expect to hear tunes your Mum and Dad would play from DJ Slender, DJ Pasty Snatch and DJ Carol Vorderman, clothes so fresh they're still on the tree and a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.*
*This proverb refers back to mediaeval falconry where a bird in the hand (the falcon) was a valuable asset and certainly worth more than two in the bush (the prey).
Less than a week until Preservation Society's first Sunday Assembly - there's going to be a tremendous array of vintage, retro and second hand clothing to rummage through with plenty of bargains to be had, other delights will include jewellery from MadeByGeorge, bric a brac, feathers, teaspoons, teapots, more vintage bargains from fashion blogger London Rose, luxurious cupcakes, excellent alcoholic beverages, DJ's, board games and much more. Come along to the New Cross Inn this Sunday from midday till 6pm and you might even get to ride a zebra!
Yurts finished now and been a bar, bunk-room and bistro but foolishly didn't manage to get a photo of it in action so here is some of the lead up and hopefully completed picture to come soon. I made my cover with canvas from Spirits Intent using their yurt cover sewing course.
Farm Festival last weekend!
NEW POSTER!
We have just started planning our very own village fete style market!
The Preservation Society's Sunday Assembly will be taking over the New Cross Inn on Sunday the 7th of October. Vintage clothes, bric-a-brac, handmade jewellery, crafts, games, a raffle, DJs, cupcakes can be expected! plus much more!!!
IT'S GONNA BE GREAT! Stay tuned for more information!
p.s. If you would like to get involved (whether it be having a stall or anything else) please send an email to [email protected], especially if you make your own wares!
Frame finished! Now got to get this hut covered.
Yurt blog #3 - From sticks to rafters.
Yurt blog #2 - crown completed. We started off with two straight pieces of wood and after several sessions of steaming, bending, clamping, gluing and drilling have ended up with Crown of the Yurt to be seen in action in the next blog..
New costumes!
Cleopatra and Roland Rat out in the garden.
