“um.” jackie glanced over her shoulder once the man’s attention was on her, acting as though she hadn’t been watching the entire scene go down. she held her glass of water by her lips, taking awkwardly small sips as her eyes wandered around the bar, her body still facing him. brown hues finally landed on the man sitting across from her and she sighed, lowering her cup and tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, her cheeks reddening. “you know— i wouldn’t know. i wouldn’t know what you mean. it’s not like…i’m a woman.”
“It’s not like that? ... how drunk am I exactly, because you look pretty womanly to me,” Preston teased slightly, one eyebrow raised as he glanced over at her, mostly amused by how uncomfortable she seemed. “And, come on, you’ve never had a woman come to hit on you? Or a guy that won’t go away? I don’t think I believe that.” Taking another sip of his drink, he shrugged. “Honestly, it’s probably not just a woman thing, it’s just a people thing.”
