Adelheid has chosen to keep her Spainard to herself for now. It was miracle to have met him. One does not come across someone from Spain often in Germany. Sometimes not even over the course of an entire lifetime. A true rarity this man is. The distance he covered to find Adelheid is far to travel.

Hildegard was a difficult birth for Madeline. For this reason, Hildegard will be the only child she and Matthias have. While the two love her all the same, they do fear that Hildegard's eyes are not quite right. They worry she will have poor vision over the course of her life. Likely, this is another complication from Madeline's difficult labor, the midwives think.

Amelia discusses beauty and bonds over rituals with her sister-in-law. She could never have these discussions with her twin sister, Beata, when the two were growing into young women. Beata never had much of an interest in aesthetics.

Johanna enjoys the simple fun and pleasure of swinging in the cool autumn breeze.

After chasing Wilhelm down, Reinhard puts his son to sleep. He will not be able to take his eye off Wilhelm for a second in the future, lest the child crawl away to where he cannot be found. Reinhard supposes there is no harm done. A sense of adventure will only be an advantage to Wilhelm when he becomes a man.
