@preyseek asked :
“ only a few find the way , some don’t recognize it when they do — some don’t ever want to ”
❛ maybe . . . though it seems to be a luxury of choice when some do. . ❜ legs kick back and forth, rhythmic as she swings them. gaze moves from her new found friend, avoiding asking any more perturbing questions regarding suit & being within. grip tightens along the edge of stone seat. brows twitching until she's making more of an angry face than she thought she would.
❛ and ! how, do you recognize it, how can you be sure about anything ? it makes my head spin thinking about it. it doesn't seem fair at all, plus. i'm quite fond of the experience more than the finality of the journey itself. i think, it's okay to just be lost sometimes, as long as you follow your heart. ❜
a pause, gaze narrowing playfully. ❛ AND while i mean metaphorically, do you have a heart ? or do you have like, a doral vessel? do you know ? I guess you probably can't , but I think you could FEEL like you do, maybe ? like the mandibles you know ? ❜
They were content to let her ramble on, waiting patiently with violet eyes staring off at the horizon, before turning back to meet their companion's gaze as they spoke. ❝ I was just talking about the desert... ❞ Their voice was quiet, soft and monotone, in such a way that it may have gone unheard should the wind pick up at an inopportune moment.
Kai'sa reached out, taking the other's wrist, drawing the mage's hand to their chest, swiftly but not forcefully, holding it in place for a long moment, that she might feel for a heartbeat herself. The symbiote's heartrate was rapid, alarmingly so, despite being at rest, a small glimpse into their inhuman speed and acuity.
❝ You speak like a cicada— ❞ Abruptly, they released their grip on her, tearing their eyes away, as their voice begins to waver. ❝ —Sorry, I wasn't trying to be mean, its just something my Dad used to say. I was like that too. ❞

‘ some people are born with a piece of night inside, and that hollow place can never be filled. ’
‘ what do i care for winter ? no season touches this wood. ’

‘ you should leave this place. you are not safe here. ’
‘ with such big eyes, i think you see too much. ’
‘ will you not tell me what troubles you ? ’

‘ in the wood, even songbirds must be survivors. ’
iii. THE WITCH OF DUVA.

‘ do you think i am so foolish or so cruel ? ’
‘ water only wants direction. it wants to be told what to do. ’
‘ always you have done my bidding, but what good are you to me now ? ’
‘ soon i will be very rich, but will i have a good man ? ’
‘ that is a question for the river. ’
‘ your tongue is not fit for my true name. ’
‘ will you come with me, and be bride to nothing but the shore ? ’

Kai'sa do not be having gender(tm), it got left behind in the void.
before you became this, you were innocent. you were soft, and you were free. but through knowledge of the world, knowledge of what it would do to you, you became hard. you became trapped. you have made yourself something sharp, so that the world would not harm you. but you can become soft again. you can unbend your spines, sheathe your claws, emerge from your cage. and the world will be softer for it too.
the tingle down your spine. the raised hairs on the back of your neck. the quickened pulse, the nervous energy that trickles into your every muscle. the thoughts you have, late at night, when you’re too close to sleep to stop them.
Kaisa doesnt get enough sleep does she
no, not really…sometimes amumu tries to stay up with her at night
i wrap my skin in hostile architecture, hoping my spines and poisonous colours will deter those who would swallow me whole
@sunszenith asked: " . . . And that is how I slayed my first void creature, without really meaning to. " Leona chuckles and pulls the fur blanket a little tighter around herself. She looks over at Kai'sa with interest. " What was the most difficult time you can remember? "
The thought of her past sent a shudder through her form. It took a moment for her to ponder what she would say, the true story was not a pleasant one, and perhaps was better left untold, regardless of how much she had grown to trust the solari in recent days. ❝ —Are you certain you want to know? ❞ Kai’sa paused, waiting for confirmation before she began her tale.
Unfortunately, she didn’t receive the answer she was hoping for. The memory was all to vivid as she began to recall, arms wrapping around herself as she searched for the feeling of safety, right hand pulling at the back of her neck. ❝ I was ten years old when I lost my home. The sky crackled, and the ground split open, my village, everything, swallowed by the void, ❞ she spoke in a soft voice, flat, and cold with grief, the sounds of cracking earth and flashing skies replaying in her mind as she shared her memories. She wasn’t making eye contact with Leona anymore, such a simple thing seemed impossible. ❝ It was all my fault, ❞ a final whisper.
She would continue her recounting, but not before pulling her knees to her chest, gripping herself even tighter, voice yet softer. ❝ I remember waking up in the dark to the cries of the other villagers. I don’t remember how long I spent there, staying as quiet as I could, while I listened to all the others fall silent… ❞ The story stopped there, not that there wasn’t more to tell, but she simply didn’t have it in her to keep going. ❝ It was all my fault, ❞ a final whisper.
nostalgia is a hungry beast. do not feed it. you cannot go back.
bajasblast:
‘ hey! i could’ve handled that ez - peezy, but uh . . . you weren’t half bad. i made it out alive and i got this bad boy in the process. ’ with a hand digging in his back pouch is a sparkly tear of the goddess. it rests heavy in his palm, even looking through it which the sun glimmers like a tiny, blue disco ball. he smirks. ‘ she sure is beautiful. this will look great in my room and not at all with the person i promised i would give this to. ’ the last part was mumbled, although there’s a pause with a peculiar glance. ‘ now, you would say curiosity killed the cat, but why were you in the tombs? were you lookin’ for this? . . . because finders keepers. ’ @preyseek
violet eyes burrowed into the stranger with a stem gaze, brow tense with annoyance, markings glowing. he talked too much, she thought. although, she wasn't one to complain, at least, not this time. all this babbling presented her with the reprieve of a few moments to think, free of the incessant hunger of that which lived on her, a rare luxury, as it had already gorged itself on the essence of so many dead voidborn. ❝ —I'm fixing your mistake. ❞ a cold and harsh tone falling from her lips. ❝ that thing, it belongs back where you found it. ❞ an attempt made towards being civil, to resolve this ordeal without threats or deliberate intimidation, she knew all too well that most humans feared her, however when it came to this one, she was unsure, this one seemed a bit strange.
