Launching my first art blogs with a small comic based on the amazing words of Ursula K. Le Guin!
Rich Siegel, Jewish resident of Teaneck, NJ, at Township Council meeting
[Transcription:
My name is Rich Siegel. I'm a 25 year homeowner here in Teaneck. I'm Jewish. The reason that I'm telling you that I'm Jewish is because I have a concern about something that's going on in the Jewish community. On march 10th, there is scheduled to be an Israeli real estate sales event at the Keter Torah synagogue. That event violates both domestic law and international law. Violates domestic law because we had a Civil Rights Act in 1965 and a Fair Housing Act in 1968. We don't allow real estate events to be for Whites only, for Jews only, or anybody only. Now, as Jews, we don't get to fly under the radar and break the law and hide it in a synagogue. It violates international law because West Bank settlement homes are going to be available for sale at this real estate event. On the website it lists three different West Bank settlements. Those settlements are in and of themselves illegal by international law. If we allow this sale to go through, we are enabling a local synagogue to violate both domestic anti-discrimination laws and international law. Now, there's other reasons we shouldn't allow it. There's a genocide going on right now. I don't care who that offends. More than 35,000 people have been killed. More than 13,000 children have been killed. People in this community are in deep mourning. People in this community are angry. I'm angry. What this real estate event is going to do is it's gonna fan the flames. If it goes forward, there will be a demonstration. I know there's going to be a demonstration because I'm going to organise it.

Ozai is so pathetic, like that âtake his bending away haha heâs harmless nowâ trick would never have worked on Zuko, if you took his bending away heâd just grab his swords and come at you twice as hard, Azula doesnât have swords or anything but sheâs pretty good at hand to hand and amazing at talking her way out of problems, Iroh bust himself out of prison with no bending at all, meanwhile Ozai? Gets his bending taken away and then just collapses, doesnât even try anymore, then just sits in prison and tries to get into Zukoâs head some more, he could have trained up and tried to break out too! But no! Bet he canât break steel bars with his bare hands. Bet he canât kick a steel lever in two. Bet he canât even do a flip.
Also we never really see him do any really impressive firebending apart from when he has magic comet power, I guesss he shoots some lightning at Zuko, but thatâs it and Azula is still better at the lightning thing. Azula has blue flames. Zuko can do firebreakdancing and bend with his swords. Does Ozai, who is not 14 years old, have blue flames? No he doesnât.
He didnât even do his coup himself, Ursa had to kill Azulon for him! Could have just challenged Iroh to an Agni Kai for the throne but he didnât bc he knew heâd lose.
And then he only ruled for like 6 years! He lost a war that had been going on for 100 years bc of a bunch of kids.
Loserlord indeed
Ozai was the weak failure that was projecting on everyone else.

I have a feeling that beneath the little halo on your noble head There lies a thought or two the devil might be interested to know You're like the finish of a novel that I'll finally have to take to bed You fascinate me so

Either people need to learn how to tell the difference between an âIâm sorryâ that takes direct responsibility and an âIâm sorryâ that signifies sympathy, or Iâm gonna start responding to unfortunate information with a solemn nod and a âSympies,â because I am tired of receiving a âWhy? It wasnât your faultâ every time I try to vocalize compassion.
I'm forwarding all of you my next therapy bill.
Things that are going to happen in 2024 according to Star Trek:
1) the absolutely giant homeless-population of the USA (or was is just New York? Idk, Iâm from Europe) is going to start a civil-war fighting against the upper class and police.
2) Ireland is going to get united

"Yeah guys, I totally understand BDSM, I went to the dentist when I was having a hard day and all I had to do was lie there and remember to breathe, keep my mouth open, and just take what the pretty dentist lady gave me for two hours and I left a much happier and more confused man!"
re: that last post, ive said it before and ill say it again: no one deserves to die (deserving is fake and death is bad) but some people need to be stopped and choose to make death the only way to stop them
I disagree. Pedophiles 100% deserve death.
you are moralizing and weaponizing your disgust in order to construct and justify a category of person you're allowed to murder
what do you think you deserve for this?
Sorry, no person deserves to die, thankfully child molesters and pedophiles aren't human, so this doesnt apply to them.
denying the humanity of people who do horrible things accomplishes exactly three things:
give cover to people who haven't been caught yet by allowing them to use their humanity as "proof" of their innocence
silence any criticism of societal structures and institutions that facilitate those horrible things by putting the focus on individuals who are assumed to be so uniquely monstrous that the ways it was made easy for them are irrelevant
provide a shortcut to dehumanize anyone you feel like killing: simply accuse them of doing a horrible thing
3.a. if you've already established that only an inhuman monster could kill a child, then all you have to do to get people to burn down the jewish quarter is say that jews kidnap christian children to bathe in their blood
3.b. if you've already established that only an inhuman monster could commit rape, then all you have to do to get people to string up a black man you don't like is find a white woman who's willing to point at him while she cries and babbles
3.c. if you've already established that only an inhuman monster could molest a child, then all you have to do to get people to drag gay people behind their trucks is say that since gay people can't have babies, the only way they can make more gay people is by following a nefarious Agenda to "convert" children by molesting them
3.c.a. meanwhile if you try to address the rampant sexual assault of catholic altar boys, you're met with "don't be ridiculous, he's a priest!" (see #1) and with assertions that even if it does happen sometimes, those priests are just infiltrators who don't represent the church and there's no reason to make sure priests and altar boys are never alone together (see #2)
tl;dr: your disgust-based violent politics are not less reactionary than any run-of-the-mill homophobe or racist's disgust-based violent politics
I realized how bad of a take this was after I added my last bit, i apologize for the idiocy i portrayed in my half thought out statements. And I appreciate the way you rebutted this with reasonable statements rather than going hog wild because I said something you didnt agree with.
hey no worries. we've all been there, and anyone who says they havent is either 11 or afraid of their social circle
unlearning our kneejerk reactions is a process, and it's not a linear one. its good to practice thinking before we post, but sometimes thinking after we post just has to be good enough
The state, through its actions (and inactions), desperately wants the unhoused to be killed off by exposure to the elements. And it certainly doesn't want anyone to be proactive about helping their fellows.
It's made national news
A guy ACTUALLY following the commands of Jesus...gets ACTUALLY penalized for following his faith. Because the government would rather homeless people die
(The article explains that in that area, 3 homeless people actually did freeze to death, so this pastor could have been saving lives.)
drives me up a wall living in a very very red district, like âno democrat is ever going to win any local election, let alone a real leftistâ district, like âour school board members ran on who was the most anti-maskâ red, like âI pass white supremacist signs on the way to buy weedâ red
and being in the local leftist community and the guy who runs the anarchist book club and the lady who helps keep the warming shelters open and the people who marched on city hall when a local business was getting death threats for having a drag show are all members of a discord and we get on this discord and have frank discussions about how best to vote
the people who do the protests and the mutual aid and all the real work
going âokay, theyâre both fascists, but this one lacks ambition and seems happy to just glide in the positionâ or âthey both suck, but this one can be reasoned with if you frame it patriotically enoughâ like we donât even have a democrat to vote for. we know what a vote is. we know what we hope accomplish with it. we know what it can do, and we know what it canât.
and going from those discussions to here where people think that your vote is some kind of fucking??? enabling maneuver??? as if someone isnât going to end up in that seat regardless of what you do???
we didnât build this system, we just live in it. weâre just trying to survive. a vote isnât a statement of your values, itâs not an endorsement, itâs not a marriage contract, itâs a strategic play you make to keep alive.
the biggest mistake I see leftists making is overestimating their own popularity. âwell but everyone would be leftist if they just-â no, stop, 1) you canât possibly know that 2) everyone will not just
USAmericans, for gods sake please vote in local elections. Voter turn out is so low for anything that's not national, so there's hardly any young people in this country with a say on local policies like what services are available for homeless people to survive on
adhd tips from a girlie who was diagnosed in her late twenties and has had little to no support since and is being so brave about it:
1) Make it easy, make it accessible, and make it appealing. If anything this is the most important thing, all tips going forward are based around this concept.
2) That thing you think would help you but you havenât bought/done it yet because youâre technically surviving without it? buy it, you need it. doesnât matter if people around you might think itâs wasteful or that youâre lazy, youâre not, just do it, trust me.
3) expanding on tip #2, if youâre like me and eggs are your main source of protein because theyâre quick and easy and feeding yourself is a near insurmountable task- buy yourself an electric egg cooker, make a bunch of hard boiled eggs and keep them in your fridge for quick and easy protein to add to any meal (handful of crackers, a hard boiled egg and a banana? 5 star meal right there.). Other easy protein includes: potstickers (put them in instant ramen), edamame (they have microwaveable snack packs), chickpeas (put in salads!), beans (can of beans microwaved with shredded cheese and some tortilla chips), peanut butter (with crackers, apple and cheese, adult lunchable style) and tofu (cut into cubes, throw them into a ziplock with some seasoning and potato starch, shake that shit up and bake it until crispy).
4) spend a little extra (if you are able) on daily use items that excite you, it will make you more likely to remember/want to do said daily task. for example: the only reason i remember to use sunscreen is because i bought some fancy japanese sunscreen that smells like roses so i get excited to use it, same for laundry detergent and body wash! thereâs a gajillion different body wash scents out there, switch it up!
5) if thereâs a task you continuously struggle with take a moment to think about which part of the task is making it difficult, it could be something even as small as âi donât put my dirty clothes in the hamper because my hamper has a lid on it and lifting the lid is one step too manyâ sounds a little stupid huh? but trust your gut, itâs not stupid if it works. See tip #2 and BUY A HAMPER WITHOUT A LID.
6) if you are having trouble starting a task, break the task down further, sometimes the way i start tasks is just by going âok step 1) stand up-â and so forth. donât worry about the task as a whole just take it one step at a time.
7) if youâre halfway through a task and have to stop, leave it out. all this, âput things away when youâre done with them.â is bullshit. you will be much more likely to finish the task if restarting it is easier because you left it out. you can also create faux deadlines like âI gotta finish this project before my friend comes over on tuesday because after I finish it I can clean off the dinner table.â etc.
8) Itâs okay to outsource tasks and donât let anyone tell you otherwise, humans are designed to ask for, and to require help (what do babies do when theyâre first born?? cry for help!!) ask for help and receive help without shame, if it makes your life better, you are WINNING.
9) if you have one big overwhelming task that you think you need to get done before anything else, but you feel motivated to do other tasks, do those other tasks first, itâs okay. otherwise in all likelihood (at least in my case) youâll put everything off until the last minute and then have to do said overwhelming task and those other tasks wonât get done at all. doing smaller tasks also lowers the mental load and you can use them as a motivation launch pad to tackle bigger things.
10) If you notice you tend to not put something away/forget to do something, perhaps consider moving and storing the item closer to where it ultimately ends up or where you are more likely to see it. For example, my makeup, pills, and mail are all stored on my desk because thatâs where I tend to do my makeup, take my pills and deal with my mail. I used to store my pills in my bathroom medicine cabinet but all too often I would forget because they werenât in my line of sight. now that theyâre on my desk, I have multiple chances per day to pass by them, go âoh I gotta take those.â and take them.
11) Open storage, open storage, OPEN STORAGE
12) motivation can look like all kinds of things. sometimes the only reason I get out of bed is because i remember I have a fun snack and I get to go eat it if I get up. itâs okay to lean into those simple âanimal-brainâ type motivators, youâll eat because then you can use that fun new kitchen gadget you got a daiso? neat. youâll shower because then you can paint your nails that fun new color you got? fantastic. youâll go to the dmv and do that annoying thing because youâll take yourself out for boba after? superb. lean-IN to those small motivators, they arenât stupid or childish, they are VITAL.
13) donât buy into the cult of âif itâs worth doing, do it properlyâ itâs guaranteed to set you up for failure. if itâs worth doing, do it in whatever capacity you are able to. i put sunscreen on once a day because thatâs fucking better than not doing it at all and i sure as all hell will fail at reapplying it multiple times a day. if itâs worth doing, do it half-assed babieeee.
go forth and prosper!!! xoxo âïžđ©”

so what you're gonna do is you're gonna trim the top off a bulb of garlic, using the knife's edge to take off the tip of every individual clove, that's important. you're gonna place the garlic face-up in a square of tinfoil, drizzle with olive oil, wrap completely in foil, place in baking tray, repeat with a copious amount of garlic bulbs. you're gonna put that baking tray in an oven set to 375-400°F, for 30-50 minutes, until soft and browned. you're gonna toast some good bread, slather generously with butter and honey, maybe a tiny lil bit o' salt. and then. you're gonna SQUEEZE. OUT. THAT. ROASTED GARLIC. onto the butter honey toast. and you're gonna eat it. food stolen directly from the plate of the gods. that's what you're gonna do.
this post was a hit w/ the garlic fandom
