Got accepted for another DCP

I got accepted for another Disney College Program today! It’s for Fall Watercraft! I’m super excited! This is a backup plan if I don’t get a professional internship offer BUT I’m excited as heck for it!

HELLO UPDATE HI

OK SO I just finished my first phone screen that applied for 4 of the professional internships that I had applied for and wow I felt super confident at times and also super stressed at other times heres to hoping for some kind of movement in the future! ALSO my recruiter was INCREDIBLE she was a sweetheart and explained the whole process after phone screens to me so effectively WOW.

Tomorrow morning I have my DCP phone interview. I’m excited for that but deff not as stressed for it. I know its because I’ve already done 2 other phone interviews for college programs in the past that were successful but I’m more excited than worried for that one tomorrow.

Update

Hi everyone! SO here's a little update post as I’m going about the application process.

I applied for the Fall 2018 DCP and have my phone interview on 2/7. I’m super excited about it because if everything else doesn’t work out the DCP is a great way to get back with the company and make the move down to Florida as well!

I’ve applied to about 5 Professional Internships so far and am super excited about those too! Unfortunately, I was NLIC’d from one but then realized after trying to figure out what I was NLIC that it was for grad students only, whoops my bad. The rest I’m still Under Review for! It’s a weird feeling though because for those positions people have been NLIC’d but there have also been people who received phone screens for them. The waiting process for PI’s is so much more painful than the DCP wait let me tell you. I’m going with the realization that it moves at different paces for everyone and even if I haven’t received a phone screen invite I also haven’t been NLIC and that's something to be happy about.

Disney Life Update

Hello everyone! For those who don’t know I’m graduating this May which warrants the non-stop “What are you doing with your life?” questions and the even more important “Are you trying to go back to Disney?”

Well this is where I am at so far:

I already have my things together for when Professional Internships applications drop. That is the big goal. 

BUT just in case I do plan on applying for the DCP Fall 2018 program. Getting back down in Florida and getting back with the company are my main goals after graduation. 

I plan on ***possibly*** making videos and blog posts about my application process this time around as well, especially including the Professional Internship applications!

Alright thats all for now! Back to studying for finals!

Hi everyone!

I know I’ve been TERRIBLE at posting. I went through a incredibly rough post dcp depression when I left Florida in August and didn’t want to talk much about my program or really anything at all.

And then ya know school started. And trying to get back into the swing of school after taking a semester away was hard as fuck. And since I’m a senior I’m busy ALL OF THE TIME.

So here is a picture of me and Baymax. He was my favorite character meet and greet and I’m pretty sure he is the character I met the most during my program.

Hello! I just got accepted for spring 2018 as custodial! I would love to hear any and all advice, suggestions, etc. about anything and everything! Thank you:)

AHH Congrats! I’m so happy for you! So I don’t know much about the custodial role but I can tell you that odds are you are going to love it. 4 of my good friends during my program were custodial. All of them extended either from Spring to Spring Advantage or from Spring Advantage to Fall/PT. I had friends who worked in resorts and in the parks and they loved both. I genuinely believe that custodial is a role that some people don’t believe is for everyone but everyone who gets that role ends up loving it because of the freedoms it provides. 

When it comes to overall DCP advice the best and most general advice I have is to go in with an open mind. Open yourself up to others and do not judge a book by its cover as tacky as that sounds. We all do the DCP because we’re a little weird and really just use the time to express yourself. Ugh you are going to have a blast. I know this all sounds cheesy and cliche but just open yourself up to people and opportunities and you will have an amazing time. 

My favorite memory from my DCP is after the welcome party they held for CPs we just sat outside our apartment and waited for all our neighbors to walk by and walk into their rooms. That’s how I not only met my neighbors but also met some of the best friends I had during and after my program. What I’m getting with this silly story is be open, be kind, be real. You’re going to really find out who you are on this program. You’ll be pushed to your limits and also have the most fun you have ever had. So in the beginning of the program really open up to everyone, you can find your best friends and your true self that way.

Sorry this is kind of just all over the place. I just really loved my program and really hope you make the most of yours.

With that all being poorly said, please stay in touch I would love updates as you find out information before your program starts and then as your Disney story takes place. We all have a Disney story and I can’t wait to hear all about yours.

1 Year

Ah I can’t believe I forgot to post about this on here but a year ago yesterday, September 16th, marked the 1-year anniversary of when I got accepted into the DCP. I’ll never forget that day just as I will never forget my program. Crazy how fast time has gone by, sometimes I still can’t believe that my program has already come and gone. I genuinely miss it and the friends I made while on it every single day and every day I find some minor thing that reminds me of my time with the Walt Disney Company. But for now, I sit in classes and wait until graduation in May and hope that I find my way back to the company.

Thank you for all the memories Disney. My college program was everything and more.

I was never a Disney person...

I was never a “Disney person” growing up. I didn’t go vacation there every year. I didn’t keep to a Disney obsession as I grew up. I didn’t even really have a great reason for applying to the Disney College Program, it wasn’t a dream I had my whole life like it is for many applicants.

But yesterday marked exactly one month since my program officially ended and I left Florida. Now I find myself craving Disney. I watch YouTube Disney vlogs and cry. I catch myself still doing the signature two finger “Disney Point”. The smallest and most simple things remind me of my roommate and friends in Florida. And walking around my campus to see the Disney College Program advertisements everywhere actually make my heart hurt. I’m as up to date as can be on the latest Disney news and am constantly preparing myself and imaging my life after graduation when I get back with the company.

I am complete and total Disney trash now and I’m so fine with it. In the last few weeks of my program myself and one of my roommates were constantly talking about when we were going to be back to visit our one roommate who extended and to be back in Disney World. But its way easier to talk about going to Disney then it is to just make it happen. School gets in the way, its an expensive trip even if just for 3 days, and just life gets in the way.

I would do ANYTHING to walk down Main Street again and just take in the energy and smells of the Magic Kingdom. Or walk into the Polynesian Resort and smell that distinct intoxicating smell that I smelled almost every day for 7 months.

I miss Disney. I miss my College Program. I miss my Disney life.

Hey, I felt that i had a few really good answers in my phone interview, but I rambled and repeated myself a lot. Do you think that would completely ruin my chances of getting in /: ?

Honestly I felt that way after both of my phone interviews and got in both times. The worst part about the phone interviews are that it takes FOREVER to hear back and all you have to do is focus on things that you might have done wrong. I really don’t think that you should over think every little mistake. You most likely did way better than you think you did.

out of curiosity, do you remember if you marked high interest, medium interest or low interest for QSFB, since that's what you ended up getting? also if you remember what you marked for the other 'high volume' roles like lifeguard/custodial/housekeeping???

I honestly thought that I put no interest in QSFB but I guess I must have out low interest in it since thats what I got. I do remember my top roles were Attractions, Character Attendant, and Children's Activities. I didn’t put any interest in lifeguard, custodial, or housekeeping mainly because I knew that if I got eny of those I would have been miserable. It’s one thing to get into the program but I do not recommend putting interest in things that you would not enjoy doing at all especially considering theres a good chance that you will get placed there.

hey! i did a program back in fall 2017, and we didn't find out our work location until we went through housing check-in and went to casting. but i saw you mention that you got an itinerary that told you your work location! did they change it so you find out your work location before moving in??? thanks!

Yup so about a weekish before check-in they send our your itinerary in an email and in it says your housing and work location!

Friendships

DCP friendships are truly unlike any other. I’ll get into more of that later on when it’s not almost 3am and I didn’t just get home from Senor Frogs.

This is for all the Fall Advantage people just starting or about to start. Like making friends down here is so easy do not over think it. My first night here me and my roommates sat outside our door and just talked to everyone living in our building. I met my best friends that way. Were all in this together. 

I truly think that just deciding to sit outside our door after the welcome housing party was the greatest decision I have made this program.
