THE SOPW JUMP FOR FREEDOM SKYDIVE 2014 is BACK!!!
Last year was an amazing day and turnout... How can you get involved? How can you help raise awareness and donations for those who need it most? Sign up and let's show the innocent prisoners and families that we support them that we are their hope and their voice!
JAGTAR SINGH HAWARA HAS BEEN SUFFERING FROM PAIN IN THE SPINE AND HIS LEFT LEG FOR THE PAST MONTH On 13 June, our SOPW volunteer Parminder Singh, met with Jagtar Singh Hawara who is imprisoned in Tihar Jail Delhi. On previous visits, Jagtar Singh would be one of the first inmates to come out at visiting time. Yet, Parminder Singh found that on this occasion he had not arrived for the visit even after 15 minutes. The jail officials kept saying he was on his way and when he finally appeared he was being brought out in a wheel chair. After exchanging their 'fateh', Jagtar Singh asked after the state of the Sikh community (making reference to the recent events at the Akal Takht on 6th June). Parminder Singh showed great concern for Jagtar Singh's deteriorated health and although he was in high spirits, Jagtar Singh informed Parminder Singh that for some time now the pain in his back and leg has been steadily getting worse. According to the jail manual, high risk prisoners should have access to medical attention. We urge you, the Sangat, to join SOPW in demanding that the authorities admit Jagtar Singh Hawara into an appropriate hospital without delay and that he be given the help he so obviously needs. Please also keep Jagtar Singh Hawara, a great hero of our nation who has spent the best years of his life in jail, in your prayers and may Waheguru bless him with a speedy recovery.
* SOPW HELP MAANDEEP SINGH KHALSA GET EMERGENCY MEDICAL TREATMENT * You may recall that Maandeep Singh Khalsa lost the use of both his legs when he contracted polio as a young boy. A few days ago, our SOPW team learned that Maandeep was in extreme pain due to a dental procedure that had gone wrong and he was in need of emergency medical treatment. We immediately took him to the dental clinic and he is now on medication. In the coming days, this will have to be followed up with a surgical procedure to cure the problem. With your help, SOPW have been supporting Maandeep Singh for some months now when we installed a fitness gym for Maandeep to run as a business. Currently, we are exploring different options offered by the doctors we visited with Maandeep, at Chandigarh and Amritsar specialist hospitals, as to what can be done to replace his legs. We will continue to bring you any updates, thank you for your support!
* SOPW TALK AT LONDON 1984 RALLY, UNCOVERS THE MASK OF 'DEMOCRACY' INDIA IS HIDING BEHIND * The ground shook with the roar of 'Jaikaray' as SOPW released balloons in memory of our great Shaheed and our great heroes still languishing in jail..
so this just happened
“THERE ARE NO MIRRORS IN JAIL, BUT WHEN I GET READY EACH & EVERY DAY, I LOOK INTO MY ‘MIRROR’ AND I SEE 1984 STARING BACK AT ME – THAT IS WHAT I FOCUS ON WHEN I PREPARE MYSELF FOR THE DAY AHEAD...”
– Jagtar Singh Hawara.
DON'T FORGET OR TURN YOUR BACK ON YOUR HISTORY! With technology today it often only takes a click to access information! This short interview discusses Shaheed Bhai Mengha Singh Babbar, the first Shaheed of 1984 and covers what went on during the 1st of June 1984.
