A Magical Accident

Krigar nodded and waved him on. “I.. we went over that part. I meant these.” Yuli held his arms so the spikes were showing. “Did I always have these?”
As Alek went out to the parking lot and pulled the car around the back, Caligo tried to help Yuli understand what had been going on in his life. “Oh, sorry. No, you didn’t always have those. When I first met you, you looked pretty much the same way you do now but less demonic.” Realizing that may not mean anything to Yuli, he clarified, “You didn’t have the spikes, your eyes didn’t glow, that sort of thing. You were possessed by a demon, kind of, but you weren’t one yourself. You eventually decided to become a demon when you were in a dangerous situation and probably would have died otherwise. When you became a demon, those showed up.”
“So I was.. Food?”
“If you mean you were human, yes,” Caligo said, somewhat hesitantly. “If you mean the dangerous situation was that they were going to eat you, I don’t think that was it. It was people trying to get to the demon possessing you, I think. And if you mean about being possessed, no. The demon wanted you to find souls for him but he wasn’t feeding off of you.”
“I.. m-meant human.. How could it be in me but not me?” Yuli tilted his head a little.
“Some demons can basically have their soul…stay in your body?” he said, sounding somewhat unsure himself. “I’ve never possessed someone or been possessed so I’m not really sure about the specifics. You were both inhabiting your body. You were still on control, though, he just told you to kill specific people to eat, or at least that’s what I know of.”
“Oh.. That seems.. not normal..?”
“Not normal compared to what?” Calif asked, unsure if Yuli meant this seemed strange for demons, humans, or just in general.
Outside, Alek had pulled the car around and was headed back into he building.
“Sharing the body, instead of just him using it?”
