another (fat) local coyote, 35.5lbs, kind of shepherd-y markings but nothing too crazy, she reminds me of this lady, very pretty. Pardon the mess, it’s very busy around here!

In 2019, a 16th century dog emerged from the ice in a mountain pass between Lom and Skjåk. He was a grown male, around the size of an elkhound, and had experienced injuries that were healed by the time of his passing. He wore a wicker collar.

The international anatomy of a male eastern grey squirrel!

I found him on the roadside with (very evident) injuries which suggest that he was most likely hit by a car.

Very interestingly, he had an awoken salivary gland, which may imply that he was ill or had some other impairment. I imagine this may have contributed to his death, of which the probability is much higher if the squirrel is impaired in some way.

He is beautiful and has been perpetuating in my care to understand, even after his death.

going to maine this christmas, and while it will be excrutiatingly cold considering i've been living in the southern states for most of my life, i am still determined to go hiking a bit in search of corpses. in the forest among the dead where i'm meant to be.

sadly my trip got canceled, which sucks bc i was really looking forward to it...but i'm at least going to visit family in another state, so hopefully i find some goodies. when i lived there i would find roadkill all the time, so really hoping i find something good.

#once we move i'm gonna try and do trips outside the city to do some carcass hunting #until then. i just long for bones

those plans got canceled too so fuck me i guess. at least i know of someone local who sells parts if i really want/need them. i just never have the money so i'm trying to find my own stuff. i live with my partner and his family so it's. difficult to say the least to have the time and privacy to take something home and clean it. not to mention we live in a big city so it's near impossible to find any kind of roadkill before it's picked up.
