“Right, I guess I can relate. You do know, we have a teacher’s lounge that is more suited for that, yes?” Cormac teased.

“Where the fun in that?” She teased back. “Really though, if I go there will you keep me company?”

“Well, it’s hard to go to class when you a) don’t want to go, and b) can’t find it because the fucking stairs won’t stop shifting.”

“Rowena Ravenclaw made the idea of moving staircases. I’ve got no idea why. What room are you looking for? Maybe I can help you out.”

“Thanks for the help, professor! I’m sorry for taking up your time though.”

“Oh no, don’t be. I’m a librarian and a professor. It’s my job.” Ruby turned around to leave. “Good luck with Charms.”

“You do know you said that out loud, don’t you?”

“Well I’m not stupid. I had to get it out somehow. Cussing was the first thing that came into my mind. Trust me. You’ll hear less of it.”

“Not with transfiguration though…” Arlette said, trailing off. “Besides Charms, I’ve also got a minor in Magical Theory. Any idea about that, prof?”

“Transfiguration and Charms have similarities. Charms, I’ve got no clue. Magical Theory; you’re in luck.” Ruby turned around to face the girl and gestured at the aisle, “Here’s the Charms section. Across is Magical Theory and all theories really.”

“It’s bad when it comes from your grandma, I guess I can use it for a pajama shirt.”

“Pair that up with a pajama party, then you’re good to go. No one will suspect that it came from your grandma.”

“Really? I need to explore more..” he made a face as he followed her out.

“You should. The city is amazing at night. Not a lot of people like it though and that’s understandable.” Ruby said as she gripped her keys.

“This is what my grandma sent me for a late Christmas present, does she actually expect me to wear this?”

“Well it’s not bad. But it’s not appropriate either.”

“At this time of the night? All the shops are close aren’t they?”

“Not all, I’m sure. There’s probably one that’s still open,” she said as she rummaged her bag for her keys and started walking out of the library.

“You know, it was a bit unavoidable. Cooking is not my forte in any way.”

“Well practice makes perfect. It takes time to learn things. Everyone does. I’m not exactly skilled at it either.”

“Well..there is another box of Swiss chocolates by the DADA section,” he thought for a moment. “Oh nah, I already completed the book.”

“That’s good. I’m sure you’ll do well in your class. I better get going then. I’ve still got to do grocery shopping.”

“Okay, so maybe I should’ve gone to class and figured all this out last semester, but honestly, do the stairs have to move?”

“Well no, but it’s what makes the school unique. And yes, you should’ve gone to class.”

“You think I’d learn by now that I shouldn’t try to cook complicated things. Nope. I set the fire alarm off again. Sorry!”

“It’s alright. But you should be more careful.”

Damion walked up to her after putting the books back with another box of chocolates in his hand. “Thanks for your assistant, Professor Ruby.” He bowed his head before handing the box to her.

Ruby took the box and gave him an apologetic smile. “How many boxes did I have in library?” She said with a groan. “Are you checking out a book? My shift’s over. I was about to leave.”

“Sure..thanks,” he smiled back before heading off with the books.He walked over to a near by table and sat down before starting to study.

Ruby had just finished reviewing her book just to refresh herself on what to teach on her first day of class. She sighed, looked at the time and noticed it was almost the end of her shift. She then put her book in her bag and started to pack up her things not noticing that someone was approaching.

As both the professor and Arlette walked towards the Charms Section, she said, “Hey, professor, which major are you teaching?”

“Well, I teach transfiguration, sweetheart.” Ruby answered her. “Do you need help in something?”
