“Darling, these things can happen. We have to go, if you’re in that much pain. Something might be wrong and…and…” he trailed off at the end.
“I’m not in that much pain. They’re just worse than the false ones.” She said quietly, realizing what was really happening and taking his hand. “You’re going to be there through the whole thing, right? Because I can’t do this alone.”
“Lucinda. We’re going to St. Mungo’s,” Brian said, in the firmest voice he could manage; one of his teacher voices. He looked around before picking her up bridal style. He looked around once more and apparated from where they were standing right into St. Mungo’s front lobby. “I’m right here. I’m not going anywhere.”
