Here’s my take on the whole ‘Yang using her Semblance when her Aura was depleted’ “fiasco;”

She forced it. She was desperate to save Ruby, so she subconsciously forced her body to do something it normally wouldn’t, i.e using her Semblance without her Aura.

It’s like when a mother lifts a car or something off her child to save them; Normally it couldn’t be done, but the rush of adrenaline and endorphins made it for a brief amount of time.
