In case anyone wants some perspective on how utterly random triggers can be. I haven’t lived in a house with a garage door in four-ish years. Right now at this moment, I honestly can’t recall what they sound like, except something metallic moving and rather clanky.
There was one on tv. I wasn’t even paying attention to it, I had my headphones on and was actively trying to tune the show out. My ears picked up on the sound of the garage door, and a jolt of adrenaline shot through my body as I grabbed my laptop and moved to get out of my seat and run to my room.
I realized what happened after about two seconds.
The sound is gone from my ears, but my heart is still racing and I’m waiting for the door to the house to open, to hear the jingling of my mother’s keys and her footsteps moving through the house. My muscles are still tense and I’m fighting the urge to run to my room and stick a board in front of the door.
For years, the sound of a garage door was my warning to pack up what I was doing quickly and retreat to my room if I was out of it.
I can’t remember the sound of the garage door right now, but I can’t tell my brain to stop trying to react to it.
This can be reblogged, if anyone was wondering. I wrote up this post with the intention that hopefully people who read it and didn’t really get triggers would understand a bit.
This is very important.
To all my followers who self harm. Do this, for me please.
It can save you physical pain.
This is great. I love you all too much to NOT repost this.
when an artist wants to show you their art
or a writer wants you to read what they’ve written
it’s quite often an expression of trust
because a poem or a story or a painting are often things that come from the heart
little pieces of the artists themselves
and if they’re willing to share it with you
you should appreciate it
THANK GOD SOMEONE KNOWS BECAUSE I SWEAR TO GOD WHEN I SHOW IT TO PEOPLE THEY THINK IM BRAGGING
Or they don't give a single solitary crap.
Hey humans! Just a heads up, my friends and I have created a new blog, @what-r-friends-for, where half of my posts (rough estimate) will be going.
Now this will still be my main blog, but I will be doing a lot of my postings on the other blog (or plan to).
“What-r-friends-for” is dedicated to helping people out with their problems while creating a nice calm place to relax. We hope to achieve this goal by answering questions and concerns that people may have in their life. We give advice on self help, school advice, relationship advice, fashion advice, etc etc. Anyone is welcome to come to us for help, and we will help you in the best possible way that we can! So with that, come join us if you want (or not, you do you) and have a wonderful day!!
Go follow these guys! @mack-potato is a pretty great girl and I'm sure her friends are too!!
The hardest thing to do
Hey everyone :) I just want to take a second to thank everyone of you. All of you who follow or like this campaign. I know it’s not too popular at this moment in time. But I have dreams of it becoming something big. And you people are making this dream come true. To the girl who reblogged my post, thank you. I needed to read this today. I may be recovered already but life isn’t perfect for anybody. I’ve been having a rough few weeks. And I’ve been struggling to keep my head up. But this made me smile. Reading this and also seeing how it impacts other’s life’s. It’s pretty great. It makes me laugh how often the people I “help” end up helping me instead. @amandahernndez2000
It's not easy. But you can do it. Difficult and impossible are two entirely different things.
Some days suck. Some days are horrible. Some days you feel like crap and beat the snot out of you. I'm going through some of those days right now. I can't even explain how I feel. It's a combination of numbness, rage, and heartache. What brought it on isn't important. But life. Freaking. Sucks. SOMETIMES :) life is still beautiful. Life is still a gift. Life is worth living. Even if it hurts.
Don't fake being ok. You only hurt yourself.
"Your time to leave is when your heart decides to stop. Killing yourself wont make ANYTHING better. It may lead you to a worse place than earth. You have been struggling, but the harder you try the better you'll get in life. You'll make it, kid. You are going to inspire people in this world, and you already have. You are in the middle of a story of depression. Now imagine if you left right now at this moment because you wanted to. You would end the story on a cliff hanger. Now imagine that, all the people who are inspired by you then you end it. A book with blank pages. The pages that had never been filled, the pages that were going to be filled but wasnt because YOU decided to end it early. Those people who read your book would want to leave their book with blank pages too. No one wants that. No one wants a blank book. Everyone wants the full book with detail. We want the full story. You will conquer something. Maybe not today, tomorrow, next week, next month, ect. You will CHANGE people"
My good friend @annastumpofical
If you or someone you know is sad right now. Take care of them. Treat them nicely and say nice things. Speak softly but don't treat them like you're dismissing them. Give them some good food they like. Put on a movie or show and just exist with them. Even if you sit in silence with them. Be there for them.
Whenever your faith in people is lost, remember these pictures.
