This blog is my personal analysis of the Project 2025 Presedential Transition Project aimed at educating others about the details. Project 2025 was created by a conservative group, The Heratige Foundation, with the goal of creating both a "governing agenda" and pool of effective conservative personnel.

Welcome and About Me

This blog aims to analyze the details of the freely available Mandate for Leadership: The Conservative Promise. This serves as the policy agenda and presidential playbook of Project 2025. I will plainly note the sources for my analysis where applicable. Project 2025 has never been directly endorsed by former President Trump, though previous actions he has taken and sentiments he has expressed do align with parts of the plans of Project 2025.

About me: I am a mid 20s man born and raised in suburban Ohio. I am white and I am gay. I am a high school science teacher in rural Ohio. I have a B.S. in Biology from a private university and a M.A. in Teaching from a public university. While I always make my voting decisions with the primary factor being policy and not party, my personal politics tend to align with the Democratic party. As a professional educator, I will separate my academic analysis from my personal analysis.

Forward: A Promise to America by Kevin D. Roberts (Part 2 [p3-4])

The Conservative Promise #1: Restore the family as the centerpiece of American life and protect our children.

Page 3 of the Project 2025 document follows a similar structure as the first two pages, serving as a call to arms for conservatives. It also focuses the aim of conservatives toward the 4 parts of the conservative promise which is outlined in more detail on the coming pages. This post focuses on the first promise, repeated above.

"[T]he true priority of politics [is] the well-being of the American family" (page 4). As an individual, I'm not certain that this is the true priority of politics, but I will agree that the support of the American family is something worth fighting for. As for the next sentence, stating that "the entire point of centralizing political power is to subvert the family" seems out of place. The "Under One Roof" report published by the Office of the Administration for Children and Families (an office of the US Department of Health and Human Services) found that "[a]ccording to staff and clients, centralizing services can increase access for clients, including connecting clients to services for which they may not have known they were eligible." This seems like centralizing political power is something that is desired by the American family.

I am curious as to the thoughts of others as to whether centralizing services and centralizing political power are the same thing. Please tag me and reply to this post with your thoughts on this matter.

Project 2025 goes on that state that "[t]he name real people give the things we do together is community, not government" (page 4). Considering that our government is a representative democracy, the people that form communities are the same people that are represented by our government. Thus, the things we do together are, in my opinion, BOTH done in communities and by the representatives of those communities in our government. This idea is not as easily expressed with a brief quote, but I find this phrasing fairly clear.

This post has only made it through the first paragraph of Promise #1, but I will end it here for brevity. My next post will expand on this promise further.

Forward: A Promise to America by Kevin D. Roberts (Part 1 [p1-2])

Freedom is a fragile thing and it’s never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by way of inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation[.] -Ronald Regan

The first two paragraphs of this forward seem to serve as a call to arms for conservatives. Many aspects of the current political climate are referenced generally, though with a definite slant toward conservative ideals (e.g. "totalitarian Communist dictatorship in Beijing" and "toxic normalization of transgenderism"). I will reference the facts behind these "headlines" as they appear in later policies.

The next section of the forward focuses on the Heritage Foundation's impact on Ronald Regan's presidency. Most notably, the majority of Mandate for Leadership the foundation published in 1981 was put into place by President Regan (i.e. >60%) (page 2). This suggests a similar outcome would occur should former President Trump be elected in 2024.

Roberts then quotes President Regan's gubernatorial inaugural address in 1967 that speaks to the importance of elections and political involvement, regardless of political party (I have quoted it above). This speaks to my own motives of starting this blog: to understand the political goals of those I don't always agree with. I believe that many Americans have empathy for one another and noble intentions for our country, though our visions for the future may differ.

As a start to a forward, I believe that it does an excellent job of speaking to the conservative audience of this text. I am eager to continue through this text to reach the goals and policy plans of Project 2025. If you have any questions for me, please submit one.
