Between the voives in society and the voices in my head, it’s surprising I have achieved anything at all.
We are constantly bombarded with advice, opinions, statistics, etc. that let us know exactly what we can’t do.
What we need to start doing is to tell ourselves that we can, we might just have to do it differently, slower, modified. None of those things are bad things, even if society and the voices in our heads tell us they are bad things.
I let the negative voices creep in. I am pregnant, I can’t walk 5kms right now. I am overweight, people are not going to like me very much taking so much time to do parkrun. This is not Century City parkrun, Hila, they don’t know you here, they won’t wait.
Bullshit, all of it. I am pregnant and overweight and it takes me an hour and a bit to complete a parkrun now but you know what? No one hates me, everyone waits and eveyone is super supportive. The only person not supporting me was me.
So for all those times I said “I can’t” here is what I look like saying “I can”
What about you? What “I can’t” are you going to turn into an “I can”?
For all those times I said “I can’t” Between the voives in society and the voices in my head, it's surprising I have achieved anything at all.
