Get ready for the first-ever Promare Big Burn to celebrate the one-year release anniversary!
“Big Burn? WTF is that?” we hear you ask, and we’re happy to clarify: this is a mini-Big Bang, which is a fandom event where fanfic writers team up with artists to release great written content with accompanying artwork. While Big Bangs typically involve novel-length work of 50,000 words or more, we’re working with a bit of a time-crunch, so we’re going for a Big Burn, with a minimum word count of 20,000 words. We feel that this particularly fits Promare, so win-win!
APPLY HERE AFTER READING THE RULES
This will be a ship-focused, GaloLio-centric event this time around; we’re consider expanding the permitted pairings in the future, but for this first event, we’re keeping it familiar. Any rating and any content is permitted, so let your brains run wild!
Starting January 13, until February 14, we’re inviting writers, artists, and volunteer beta-readers to sign up to participate in the event. Detailed rules can be found here, and we encourage everyone to review them carefully (especially the timeline) before signing up.
Between January 13 and May 24, the one-year anniversary of the wide release of Promare, writers and artists will work together to create an original piece for the fandom (20k words, 2+ pieces of artwork).
Writers will start on their piece first, and then in late February, artists will review anonymized summaries of their works and choose one to contribute to. By late May, their completed projects will be presented to the community in our AO3 collection.
After reviewing the rules, head on over to the Google Form and fill out the relevant information. Writers may then get cracking while artists and prospective betas should wait to be contacted when it’s time for them to play their part.
All participants will also be granted access to our Big Burn discord server, with details sent via e-mail once you’ve signed up.
Any way to get involved other than writing/drawing/betaing?
Sure! Help us promote the event! We’ve got a twitter account at promarebigburn as well where you can follow us if you’re more active in that arena. Let your friends know about the event, especially if you think they might want to participate. The more the merrier.
