waits alone
on treacherous shores,
beckoning with lambent fingers
through overcast skies,
a symbol of hope—
defying the uncertainty
of turbulent times
to guide the lost home.”

Whidbey Island days are my favorite. ✨🌾
I ran into an old friend at Whatcom Falls yesterday and I finally had my camera with me. I don’t know if this is the same owl that I had the most magical interaction with last summer but it was the exact same area. I regularly see her watching the dogs and I wander alongside the creek. 🦉

Love getting to explore with these two sweet souls. 💕

“At last came the golden month of the wild folk-- honey-sweet May, when the birds come back, and the flowers come out, and the air is full of the sunrise scents and songs of the dawning year.”

“In the first week of April the weather turned suddenly unseasonably, insistently lovely. The sky was blue, the air warm and windless, and the sun beamed on the muddy ground with all the sweet impatience of June.”
—— Donna Tartt, The secret history 🌼🌼
Magic days spent in Oregon. Wildflower season is here and the balsam root is so very special.

“Live in each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influence of the earth.”

She turned to the sunlight
And shook her yellow head,
And whispered to her neighbor:

“March is such a fickle month. It is the seam between winter and spring—though seam suggests an even hem, and March is more like a rough line of stitches sewn by an unsteady hand, swinging wildly between January gusts and June greens. You don’t know what you’ll find, until you step outside.”

Happiest 1st Birthday to my sweet Fernie Bear. My golden soul who is pure joy and love.
To the puppy who taught me that after loss comes love. Fernie may not have taught me how much I can love a dog, but he taught me that I can feel that love again and again.
To the puppy who brings so much joy into every day. Even the walk we’ve done a million times turns into the best day ever.
To the puppy who came into my life when I needed him the most. The little Velcro dog that my heart so desperately needed.
I don’t know how but I think Xander sent you to me. He knew how much I needed you even if I didn’t.
You’ve already visited 8 states. Here’s to so many more adventures this year. I cannot wait to continue to explore with you and Lazlo.
Here’s to another trip around the sun and all the adventures to come.
“Now I see the secret of making the best person: it is to grow in the open air and to eat and sleep with the earth.”
—— Walt Whitman
Stay gold, Fernie bear. 💛

First little snowshoe of the year. The snow was sun kissed and crunchy, definitely not the snowpack that we would expect to see in January. We had a lovely time nonetheless. Here’s to many more days spent in the mountains this year. 🏔️
“None of us know for sure what’s out there. That’s why we keep looking. Keep your faith. Travel hopefully. The universe will surprise you. Constantly.”

That’s a wrap, 2025. ✨💛
