“are you not allowed to leave? are you sick or something?” salem questioned staring at the girl. “or are your parents just really strict?” she giggled laying on back still with her eyes on the girl. “my guess is on strict parents since your body guard can’t seem to take his eyes off you.” she added. “just like i can’t.” salem whispered, eyes still gazed and fingers still locked.
salem couldn’t deny the pull that was between the two. she could truthfully say she had never felt this way about anyone. the bond felt like one that couldn’t be broken and she was a little scared, as if the second she went away, she wasn’t going to see her again or as if she was just going to miss her terribly. can that happen? already miss someone you never met? could she actually feel like she had known someone her whole when she only known her for five minutes? and all it took was one look. one touch. breaths so in sync with the other. and short silence to hear the heartbeat’s flutter because of the opposing girl. she felt so at peace– at home with hope.
salem shared the laugh with hope’s comment about killing the family and she shook her head. “nope, you won’t have to worry about me. did you just invite me into your home? it’s dangerous to do that in this town. so i hear. you shouldn’t trust me. i’m probably bad for you.” salem commented meaning more than she let off but at the same time she didn’t want to give anything away, she didn’t know if this girl knew about supernatural beings. “that was.. a long time ago then.” she laughed. “but it looks like the home had a lot remodeling. i doubt houses like these existed, let alone mansion of this architect.” the brunette replied followed by a shrug. “oh.. i uh, i was in the neighborhood. i’m just visiting my dad here in mystic falls.” she answered.
“so.. have you ever sneaked out before?” a smirk playing on her lips.
"my family is just worried about my safety so i stay inside the garden or house a lot. they’re not super strict, i’m allowed outside when it’s daytime and if i have someone with me. i can’t go out alone.” in some ways, hope was very much still a child to them all. she didn’t blame them, she’d literally grown from toddler to teenager in a matter of years. it was a hard adjustment for any family, even one so well equipped for the weird.
salem’s words caused another blush to fan her cheeks, making her look away for a moment. this bond that had happened the moment the two locked eyes, it was far different than that with her family or liam. this was new, scary, and all around the oddest sensation she’d ever felt around a person. but it wasn’t unpleasant and she wasn’t looking to stop it anytime soon. she had instant trust for the other and it might just prove to be her downfall in the end.
“inviting you in is the least dangerous part about it. you willingly venturing in is. if you knew my family, you might turn and run away. they’re my family but they’re not amazing people. my father is like a king, my mother his queen. my aunts and uncles are the royal family and i am the heir, the princess to it all.” she gestured dramatically with her free hand, laughing the while. it wasn’t a serious comment, not in the least. well, most of it anyway. some held true, the king title for her father at least. he was her king and she would always be his little princess ( a title she adored coming from him ). “my family is very old, they enjoy things like this.” hope missed the simple things, the smaller house with her mom and mary. but she wouldn’t go back to that if it meant giving up her family, not now.
“no, sneaking out isn’t an option. they would know before i left the yard.” hope felt it in her, the magic and the vampire void, she knew that salem wasn’t the normal she put out. “we don’t have to pretend, you know. we’re kind of the same.”
