First Appearance

I’ll get straight to it. The reason why I’m starting this blog is because of an interesting conversation I held with someone yesterday. I’m surfing the web and I come across a message in my inbox on OkCupid from a young man who is to remain nameless at this point. For those of you that don’t know what OkCupid is, it’s a great site for meeting new people. In my opinion it’s target audience is the lgbt community, but open to everyone. So I get a message from a “straight”male and it starts off kind of odd as if he’s hitting on me. Now after we get through the whole I’m not straight I’m a lesbian thing he goes on to say this.

" week ago I had good sex with experienced guy, got a lot of enjoyment from anal sex and there was great full body orgasm from anal sex. by the way, he is black, cute guy! Now I love him, but he doesn’t care about it.." Anonymous guy

Now I’m thinking to myself where the hell did that come from, but I felt he must have confided in me for a reason so I replied to him. I asked him how well and long did he know the guy. He says not well and that he met him on craigslist right before that sexual act. In the back of my mind I think oh geez that doesn’t sound too good and I reply again

"Do you think there’s a possibility that your confusing love with infatuation. I’m not judging you, it happens. We all go through it. I just don’t want you to beat yourself up over someone you just met thinking that they don’t care when there’s a huge possibility that it may not be love and just that physical attraction or the longing to be wanted. I don’t know think about it and get back to me "

He replies and thanks me for the good advice and proceeds to ask me this… ” Are you sure that love is necessary thing in gay relationships?” So I try my very best to be honest and answer this in the best way I possible and I tell him

"I personally don’t think if matters what just sex is in the relationship. I don’t believe love is necessary in all relationships. A relationship where there’s nothing but sex is completely different than a deep meaningful emotional spiritual physical relationship with someone. I think in that sort of connection your definitely bound to find love. Whether it’s just caring for someone or being in love with them. Those are two different things and can be quite confusing to most. But your question does intrigue me why did you ask that question in that sort of way insinuating that love may not be "necessary" in a gay relationship?I’m curious"

He goes on and on again before he answers about how he didn’t see it that way and that I should share this advice with the world. So here I am, I put it out there and set up an email for questions that people may have where they want to keep their identity anonymous. He spread the word and I’ve been blowing up ever since.

I like to help people and definitely wouldn’t mind sharing my opinion. Now going forth you’ll see that I’m a bit long winded, but I mean well.
