Actually, nothing seems political when you are incapable of critical thinking.

And as a follow-up - I don't necessarily think about politics while I paint or draw, but the free time that allows me to do so is political. My access to learning resources is political. My ability to afford materials is shaped by politics.

Something being political doesn't mean it's a political statement. It just means that everything we do is, in some way, influenced by the society we live in, the rights we have, the opportunities we're given, and the systems that shape our daily lives.
