The old man and the sea

The sea or ocean covers 70% of Earth's surface with a total volume of around 1,332,000,000 cubic kilometres. A wide variety of organisms, such as bacteria, plants, fungi and of course animals live in the sea. It also offers large marine habitats and ecosystems.

Waves result from the wind blowing over a fluid surface. They can travel thousands of miles before reaching land. Wind waves range from small ripples to over 100 ft (30 m) high.
