Today marks the 40th anniversary of Operation Soap, a police raid on four Toronto bathhouses which saw the arrest of almost 300 men for being found in a “bawdy house” or brothel - although no incidences of sex work were proven and most of those arrested were later found innocent.
The following night the community responded with a protest 3000 strong. The protests continued over the coming weeks, and evolved into what is today Toronto’s Pride Week.

all queer history on here is just US-American or maybe sometimes some UK history as well and it makes me sad that there’s so little information about other countries’ queer history on here :(
@makingqueerhistory has some diversity, as of historical queer people, and they’re doing a great job, but there’s a lot of work ahead.
OP is definitely right, there still is a huge gap in the discussions of queer history, and thank you for recommending us!
This isn’t perfect, and many of these only have one article, but here is our list of countries we have written about. We are hoping to one day have at least one article for every country in the world but as @every-book-has-a-secret there is a lot of work still to do.

Of course! Glad we could help!
I’d like to add Tom Of Finland (Touko Valio Laaksonen), the one who drew those erotic pictures of muscular men clad in leather, to the Finnish list.
Some say that Tom Of Finland was the father for the leather gay movement.
PERUVIAN QUEER HISTORY???? God, I love this site
[ID: The Chris Fleming “was anybody going to tell me” meme. A person standing in front of a brick wall speaks, with the captions edited to read, “Okay, was anybody going to tell me that my country has queer history I would’ve adored to know before, or was I just supposed to learn it from a wholesome Tumblr post myself?”]
@queerasfact is a pretty cool blog and podcast dedicated to international queer history!
Thanks for tagging us! We’ve got a list here of all our episodes sorted by country. There’s definitely a lot we haven’t covered, but if you’re looking for a specific area, you can check it out.
Jojo Siwa explains the risk of coming out publicly she felt when talking to her girlfriend beforehand, but then emphasizes how happy she is that she did! 🌈❤️

My last comic was a bit of a bummer so I thought I’d do a happier one to follow it up!
All trans guys are valid! All trans girls are valid! All non-binary peeps are valid! I’d make a comic for trans girls too but since I’m not one I don’t want to act like I know things only they’d know.
I did take a time lapse of me drawing this but I’m thinking about making a Patreon and having things like that on there. Let me know if you’d be interested in something like that. I’d maybe also do Patreon only raffles if people were interested in it.
The one thing I think I’d change about this comic now is that my weird brain forgot to put more body types in the boxes not talking about body type. For some reason when I draw, I default to body types like mine unless I’m really thinking about it and since I stared this at about 3 am I definitely wasn’t thinking too hard about most things lol.
Also! Let me know what kind of comics you’d like to see from me. I do things basically as I think of them or if something happened recently but if you think you have a great comic idea I’d definitely take it into consideration.
Thanks for reading!

hi do you have any study tips for exams? finals are coming up and getting me stressedddd
My apologies anon!
everyone was in agreement that you need to get a reasonable amount of sleep, food, and water.
Shannon recommends making yourself happy and decompressing as well so you don’t get too overwhelmed, depressed, and/or stressed.
Reed recommends: Studying in an environment that mimics the classroom and where you will be taking the exam, set a schedule that allows you to go over every main point that you learned, each time you return to studying, spend 5-10 minutes summarizing what you have already reviewed the previous time you studied. It is all about layering information and not just reading the coursework a second time.
Also, when it comes to terminology, spend the time to really think about what each concept means and try to find at least one extra meaning behind the term. For example, if you're studying works of art, not only think of the painter but what was the culture that helped create the piece of art. If you form a web that connects everything and relates it to other things you learned in class, that will give you more opportunities to recall the information.
any name is a nonbinary name if you’re nonbinary.
it’s okay if you’re trans and don’t change your name.
trans boys can be feminine.
trans girls can be masculine.
nonbinary people don’t owe you androgyny.
nonbinary people can wear skirts.
boys can wear makeup.
clothing has no gender.
gender non conforming people are lovely.
you don’t need dysphoria to be trans.
and last but not least
you are valid.
gay people are not gonna kiss for your entertainment.
gay people aren’t your fetish.
you don’t need to know people’s deadnames.
you don’t need to know if a person is trans or not.
lesbians don’t have to look a certain way to be lesbians.
not all noninary people are skinny afab white twinks.
the community is diverse.
aro/ace/aroace people exist.
there is nothing biphobic about pansexuality.
there is nothing panphobic about bisexuality.
polyamorous people are not whores.
pansexuality is not transphobic.
bisexuality is not transphobic.
it is okay to question everything and still be cishet.
nonbinary people aren’t transphobic.
you are not “too young” to know your gender/sexuality/romantic orientation.
demisexual/demiromantic people exist.
there is nothing wrong with demi/aro/ace people.
neopronouns are not weird or fake.
Here’s to all my boys with love handles, stretch marks, ribs that show, who feel they are too big or too small, who feel “unmanly,” who have cellulite, who can’t grow facial hair, who can’t seem to gain weight or lose it, who feel “too short” or wish they looked like a male model. Y'all matter. Love you. 💕
This reassures me very much. :D
Reblogging this twice because it fucking MATTERS
here’s to my boys with acne, disabilities, physical abnormalities- you’re amazing and we love you. keep being you, man.
Happy Pan Pride Day!
December 8th is pansexual pride day, celebrating people who feel attraction to others regardless of gender. If that’s you, have a wonderful day and check out some of our podcasts on people like you!
Christina of Sweden
Christina was crowned the monarch of Sweden in 1650, aged 18. They abdicated the throne four years later, cut their hair, donned trousers, and left the country to pursue a life of arts and scholarship in Rome. Christina wrote coded love letters to a cardinal, and also had a relationship with one of their ladies-in-waiting.
Rosetta Tharpe
African-American musician Rosetta Tharpe is known as the godmother of rock and roll, and was described by a friend as belonging to the “Whosoever Will Church as in ‘Whosever Will Let Him (or Her) Come.’“
Mary Shelley
Mary Shelley pioneered the sci-fi genre when she wrote Frankenstein at just 19. Mary was married to poet Percy Shelley, and also described herself as “apt to get tousy-mousy for women”.

i just want to add and say as a bisexual that nonbinary people are and have always been included in bisexuality as well and i know you didn't say anything to the contrary, but i know other people on tumblr have brainrot and since youre quite a popular blog i just wanted to throw that out there to the public so there's no confusion. bisexuality is inclusive to nonbinary people and anyone who says otherwise is usually just a transphobe in disguise. i hope youre alright and not bothered by the tumblr drama!
period!!!!!
he said the thing!!! :DDD
