the teacher energy thus has!!!!!! someone write a student teacher thing im not even kidding, i actually had an idea for something where mat and yn are two professors at a uni and yn still has her maiden name even tho she’s married to mat, one day her students sees she’s got a ring on her finger and it starts a big debate in class over who her husband could possibly be, everyone starts making bets. one day during lunch (which her and mat have together in one of their offices) she’s pretty much sat in his lap eating her lunch and he’s scrolling through his phone when a student walks in unannounced and sees them and that student quickly goes to the rest of his classmates and is like I FOUND OUT WHO HER HUSBAND IS anyway-

So this was lingering in my drafts from the last time I was here (maybe a year ago so whoopsies here ye go
“Oh you really got the mom car,” Noah teased rolling his bags up to your Cr-V.
“She’s a beauty huh?” you replied opening the back hatch.
“Are you gonna drive back?”
“Nope,” you giggled passing Noah the keys.
“What do you mean? You're the one who lives here,” he sassed back taking the keys from you as he shut the back hatch.
“You're the one who left me here,” you retorted sliding into the passenger seat.
Noah let out a small sigh through a smile as he opened the driver door. The trade to Calgary was strenuous on the two of you to say the least. You were still studying at NCSU and you couldn't really uproot yourself and move up there with him like you wanted to. Although it was hard for you, you weren't left completely alone as you still had the team to keep you busy. Noah took it harder than you. You were the one who kept him on track and forced him to have fun during the season and not stress as much. Every loss after the move you'd get a phone call just so he could hear your voice and the pep talk you always give him. You also kept the house intact for the most part and made sure his suits and stuff were ready for game day. By now, however, it was something you both jokingly threw out there to get what you wanted.
“Why is your seat so close?” he whispered adjusting it so he could slide in himself.
“I'm little you tree,” you laughed watching him wait for the seat to slide back.
“Like oompa loompa little.”
“So mean,” you smiled.
“I love you,” he smiled tilting his head for a kiss to which you obliged. His lips were soft as usual but this kiss was a little different than previous. Maybe because it's one of the few you be had in a long time but there seemed to be more passion behind it.
“I love you too.”
“I love you three.”
“I love you four.”
“I love you more,” he finished smiling at you before placing another kiss on your lips.
“That was so cringey I love it,” you cackled.
“You know what else is cringey? These car decorations,” he taunted.
“They are not!” you yelled at him.
“Babe, the scrunchies, the sunglasses, the key chain, whatever this is,” he said picking up the random things you had sprawled around.
“You're just a party pooper,” you whispered.
“But I'm your party pooper,” Noah winked as he pulled on the main road.
The ride home was something you both really needed. You spent a majority of the time catching up and enjoying the presence of each other. Noah was telling stories of his new group of teammates and can't wait until off-season so you can grow closer with them just as he has. You had met them in some quick trips to see them play the Canes but never got to spend enough time to really learn each person. You told of the college life after he left and how the team has kept you company. School remained nearly the same but the Canes really adopted you in more to the family than you already were. Despite not having a significant other on the team, you were still invited to team functions and would sub in as Sebastian's plus one.
Once Noah pulled up the driveway, for one, you're hectic life fell back into place. It felt as though you had just snatched him from the airport after an abnormally long roadie and you were about to settle back at home awaiting the next game.
“Well, house still looks the same but,” Noah paused waiting for the counterbalance.
“The inside look amazing,” you reassured him but he wasn't convinced.
“C'mon after the car I find that hard to believe,” he joked retrieving his bags and making his way to the front door.
Before you could make it all the way to the door, you heard the lock being opened and then the door swung open.
“Hi guys,” Aho beamed through the screen door. “Welcome home.”
“Why is he in the house?” Noah laughed opening the screen and engulfing his old teammate in a hug.
“He has the key for emergencies,” you sighed stressing the emergency part.
“I had to redecorate for Noah,” Sebs said innocently before greeting you with a hug as well.
“What did you change?” Noah said examining the house. “Looks the same as when I left.”
“You little jerk,” you laughed at Sebastian. He started to snicker himself leaving Noah lost.
“Cute huh?” he chuckled before sitting himself on the couch.
“What's going on?” Noah questioned peeking around doors and walls to gain any clues.
“I had a bunch of your Calgary stuff up and he replaced it with the old Carolina stuff. Like that frame on the fireplace, that has last year's picture had your Calgary one but,” you paused, took the frame popped off the backing, and took the picture closest to you out, “here it is.”
“Gotta put the best team up and around,” Sebastian nudged Noah and winked.
“Gotta ruin the Calgary pieces just because I'm coming eh?” Noah teased watching you place his current picture first.
“Nope,” you chimed in.
“Yeah, not really,” Aho agreed leaving Noah confused once again.
“I was doing some closet cleaning and I called him over to keep me company and take the bags of clothes out to the garage. Someone he got roped into sorting my clothes and I ended up taking the bags out,” you explained.
“Oh no,” your boyfriend muttered while Sebastian snickered to himself.
“So you know how I sort my stuff by types, so like all the Carolina stuff, pack gear, Flames, etcetera right? While I was taking bags down, he put my Calgary stuff in the spare bedroom closet and managed to sneak in more Canes gear in.”
“Whatta man,” Noah laughed shaking his head while you shook yours at Sebastian.
“So knowing that how does it feel to be back?” Sebs questioned smirking.

OMFG ITS BEEN A HOT SECOND SINCE IVE BEEN ON HERE lmao Ive been busy to say the least Ive had a lot on my plate personally (im not here to bore you all with the details) and ive bene juggling it all and im back for the bunker down with this damn corona virus cancelling our hockey but I hope this message finds you all in good health i will be back for a while or at least try to be :)
