Quite different from the other times they had met, instead of Essek teleporting to them and then bringing them somewhere else, Essek had directly teleported them to his doorstep without the necessity of being present. They appeared in front of the towers, under the night sky of Rosohna, and as they did the door to the main tower opened, the elf fully undisguised, doing his little floating spell and beckoning them in.

"I hope that was not too sudden, come."

Ashton blinked slowly as they had not expected to be teleported that way, but they were quick to shrug it off. "Nah, it's fine. Would have appriciated a small heads up, but it's whatever." They said and went inside when Essek beckoned them in. "Didn't expect to see you without a disguse tho when welcoming me."

Describing the interior as untidy was too much of an exxageration. There were a couple of children's toys scattered around the room, and a box filling with them near one of the walls, but that did not distract that this was a guy with money. It was very different from the home he had first brought the Hells to. "Ah, yes. The nation that was after me offered me a pardon in exchange for some work." He moves towards the stairs that wrapped around the wall to the top floor. "Follow me, is there anything you wish to drink?"

Ashton made sure to try to not step on any of the childrens toys, nodding at what Essek said. "So you moved back here then? With a kid, I assume?" They asked, trying to sound as polite as they could about it since they knew from expirience that not everyone liked being asked about their personal lives. They followed Essek to the stairs and thought for a moment. "Some coffee would be nice if you have any."

“I did move back here, yes, though with my partner. The kid came after bit after. She is sleeping right now, so she should give us no trouble.” The next room was not quite a study, but also not something everyone would see, with many bookshelves and shelves with artifact lining the walls. He had prepared two chairs and a little table in the center of the room and, as he waves his hand, the candles around the room light up. “Wait here a moment.” He leaves through one of the doors, letting Ashton accomodate themselves.

Ashton nodded at what Essek said, a bit suprised but also happy for him that he had a daugther now that lived with him and Caleb. "See you in a moment." They said and sat down on one of the chairs. They looked around the room they were now in curiosly, not daring to touch anything no matter how interesting some artifacts on the walls looked. They rolled one of their shoulders a bit while looking around and waiting for the wizard to return.

Essek returns a few minutes later with a cup of coffe and another cup of what must be some kind of softer blend for himself. He leaves them both on the table, though he does not sit. "Thank you for waiting. Should we begin?"

Ashton took the cup of coffe meant for them, taking a sip of it without caring how hot it was. He then put the cup down again and nodded. "Yeah, we should."

Essek lets his own beverage chill a little, giving Ashton a nod. "As always, if you want me to stop you can say so." He takes a long look at Ashton's brain, snuffing the closest light so he could see into it better, however that worked. Then, passing his hands over it, he activates it like he would do with a beacon. His running theory at the moment was that whatever happened to Ashton had turned his brain into an artificial one, if the ones the Dynasty had were not artificial to begin with.

"I will, I swear." Ashton said, letting Essek know that they would let him know if they wanted him to stop. When the wizard passed his hands over it, they sat as still for him as they could, the light of their brain starting to swirl in colourful patterns. They weren't sure if they were allowed to talk or not right now, so they were silent and let Essek do whatever he wanted to do.

Essek continued peering into their brain, occasionally drawing symbols in the air that tugged at Ashton's dunamantic essence. He muttered to himself some things in undercommon, sounding like little theories or mental notes he was making for himself. "I know I say this everytime we meet, but you are quite fascinating."

Ashton hummed a bit at that. "Feel free to say itas often as you fucking want. I still don't think I am that fascinating, but that may be cause I am not a wizard." They said with a small shrug, then added "Not that I am complaining about sor of being a lab rat to you or your partner of course."

“It must be quite mundane if it is in your own head. But belief me, this could be…devastating is not the right word. Revolutionary to our knowledge of divinity.” When he next manipulates the energy of Ashton’s brain, for a second they see double, with slightly changing hues of colour, but the effect is gone when they blink again.

"That sounds kinda cool, not gonna lie. And yeah, it is kind of mundane since it's my own head. I am still a bit amazed by anyone finding it fascinating like you and your partner do. And Jester too, but she only likes it cause she wants to use it as a discoball." Ashton hummed and blinked a few times when the effect was gone. "Are there any theories you have on my brain so far?"

Essek laughs softly. “Jester would want to use it as a discoball.” He steps back for a moment, summoning his spellbook to annotate his findings, nodding at Ashton’s question. “Your brain is acting as an artificial beacon, which could means that there is a way to manufacture them. If that is true, this nation, the one we are in, could suffer a crisis. Their whole society is built on the idea that these relics are religious in nature and that their Queen speaks to some kind of god, but if that is not true it could have some pretty strong consequences.” He thinks for a moment, then shrugs a bit unsure. “Though the way of its making is, of course, not ideal.”

"I must agree, if you managed to project the light into your head to the exterior in a significant manner it would look nice, think of it like a star projector." He takes a look again, tapping the glass above it. "Have you ever bern able to commune with it?"

"Now that kind of makes it sound cool again." Ashton said, letting Essek tap the glass above his brain. "I actually have been, yeah. But not for very long and I had a hell of a headache right after it."

"This one just proved that Dorian was right and I could be used as a late night reading lamp." They said, sounding more amused then annoyed about it. "I mean, that can be arranged. As long as you promise me it doesn't seriously harm him to the point where he like, passes out or dies. I would hate to accidently hurt your brother after Orym and Dorian said so many nice things about him."
