popular pseudoscience really has people thinking that “processed” or preserved or otherwise shelf-stable foods are some kind of warped unnatural evil science full of experimental mutant carcinogens or something when it’s JUST that they have a lot of sodium. That’s it. Cackling mad scientists didn’t hide unholy eldritch poisons in your canned ham or whatever, it’s just saltier than is good for you. The same is true of all the organic homemade artisinal pickles and dried meats and even cured shelf-stable vegan food. It’s all just more sodium than you need and excess sodium is bad for your blood pressure if you rely on it too much. That’s ALL. But t is in fact okay to have a little of that, even daily, as long as salty cured things aren’t the bulk of your food intake. It’s not radioactive cancer magic and it’s not going to damage your soul every time you give in to eating a damn pepperoni.
