Hello heathens, Iâm coming to you live and loud with the announcement that I will be taking requests for writing stories! Iâm more familiar with reader inserts, but they can be varied in what genre youâd like- the choices are almost limitless!! If you want it even more personalized, tell me what POV youâd like it written in, the setting, the characters personalities, etc. etc.Â
Masterlist
Thingâs Iâll write:Â
Yandere, Romance, Slice of Life, Platonic, Violence, Adventure, etc.Â
Things I do not feel comfortable with writing however are:Â
Relationships with real people/officialized characters from fandoms (The real people should be pretty self explanatory, theyâre people- not items to ogle and fantasize about) (Characters is merely because I feel like Iâd write them out of character :,) )
Incest, Pedophilia, Beastiality (unless these are for horror purposes, and not romanticized in any way- sort of like some creepypastas)
Sex scenes (closest Iâll write is suggestions/implications)
And I might add on if I ever come across something I didnât list here originally.Â
More about me:
You can call me PunkPuppy, Punk, or Gioiello- whichever floats your boat. I enjoy writing, but tend to find it difficult to find time so I might be slow when it comes to posting (Iâll try my best to post a few times a month though!). I like playing nintendo DS games, music rhythm games, listening to all sorts of music (except country), drinking coffee and monster drinks, and trying to learn new languages. I doubt anyone would try to make an advance BUT just in case- I am happily taken.Â
I enjoy chatting so if you want to chat, I donât bite.Â
You are all I ever want from this floating rock we call Earth, yet it seems that the universe has other plans that keep us apart.
Societal rules say we need to meet this many requirements for this amount of time, not caring that the day we met was the day my heart finally beat with purpose and reason.
3 long years, and I am yet to see the light at the end of the tunnel. We aren't growing younger, and it fills me with both dread and fury that despite spending every single day in conversation, we're missing out on what other experiences we could be making in person.
3 years we have missed thus far, of potential adventures and heart to heart moments. 3 years worth of mental breakdowns and built of frustrations that could've easily been shut down with a mere hug or kiss to the forehead.
I will never forgive the silly creatures called human for making up rules that place us in boxes and make living life a challenge rather than a beauty. For all I know, we only have one life, and the fact we are unable to be by each other's sides NOW instead of later, breaks my fragile snowflake heart.
I'll wait for however long, like a game of patience. I will keep my eyes peeled for any opportunity for us to be closer, like a colourful book of eye spy. I will run myself through the never-ending loops of happy, angry, sad until one day, I can lay in your arms happy and content forever after.
You are my world, you are my everything. You are who breathed life into me, and without you, I am nothing but an empty shell waiting for the day darkness takes me. You make me human, you make me feel. You make me realize I am flawed but have every chance to change.
You are you, someone who I'd call simple and strange, but the very existence of you makes me me. You're not loud and obvious, nor are you silent and quaint. You are that shooting star, that I by chance was lucky enough to see.
You were so kind as to let me be a part of your life, and I hope to one day prove once and for all that I am forever grateful for your company.
Despite living in the year 20XX, nothing had changed when it came to society and how easy the people fell into a pattern of "sheep" mentality. No one bothered to team together and put an actual end to criminally insane men being in high power. Once upon a time, in your younger years, you had partook in strikes and attention-grabbing performances in attempt to gain momentum in making actual change.
However, your younger days had been put to an abrupt stop when the current leader now had decided 10 years back to start executing loved ones of those who expressed any distain for him. Maybe you should have persisted even after losing your mom, but you couldn't bear the thought of losing your younger siblings. If they knew why their mom had died, they would most certainly blame you even though you never thought your personal actions would drag your own family down.
You had to take your mom's place as the caregiver and support of the family. Your dad had been out of the picture years ago, so you had doubled down in efforts and worked two full time jobs. Your siblings adored you, always knowing they could trust you to have their backs and help them understand their homework assignments (although the assignments were mindless garbage that was meant to keep them from obtaining actual knowledge).
You'd sneak snippets of true actual history into their lives every Friday nights, and always made sure to warn them to be careful to who they repeated the facts to. Afterall, you didn't want them to ever experience the same kind of distraught you experienced when your own actions resulted in the falling of your caring loving mother.
So riddle you baffled when displayed on the news, broadcasted all over town, was a saviour. He was rough in shape, scars littering the skin that was visible and uncovered from clothing, arms tatted up with faded ink- the images and words all clad in warrior-esque themes. There was splatters of blood speckled all over him, and a big victorious smile that revealed a missing tooth and several silver ones. For it being 20XX, this man who had killed off the rich bastard who killed your mother looked to be from a completely timeline entirely. Yet you didn't question it.
All you felt in that moment was hot relief flashing over you. 8 years of constant struggle to afford bare necessities for you family. 8 years of bottled up emotions of frustration, hatred, and hopelessness. 8 long agonizing years of plastering on a fake smile and venomous words of pure hatred wanted to be spat out about the leader of this city. All it took was a beefed up warrior man. Despite the relief coming down hard, there was only a few weeks of pure elation and relief before the same man who took down capitalistic horror grew bored of the fame he had obtained and the power he gained.
Everyone practically worshipped him, and so when rumours began that he had turned icy and cruel for no apparent reason- you found it hard to believe. Sure there was plenty of evil in this world, but surely the man who saved all of your lives wouldn't suddenly decide to chop an average citizen's arm off for giving him the wrong alcoholic beverage? You were soon proven wrong when an interview of the new man in control had came to life. The reporter seemed elated at the beginning of the video. She clearly had a fancy for the man, dropping flirtatious comments his way every now and then throughout the interview.
However, when asked what drove him to put an end to the cities nightmare, the man gave a response that made you freeze while washing up the dishes from dinner.
"You folks all seem to praise me for bringing justice. Some even praise me as though I am a pariah of sorts. I hate to shatter your ideals but I only killed the man because he posed a good challenge. I conquer all that poses a worthy challenge. I just so happened to gain a handful of adoring fans."
You felt that soft appreciation towards him disperse into sickened disbelief. What made you feel nauseous was the fact no one else seemed to bat an eye at his honesty.
Had they been so used to the scummiest life, that when someone just a little less bad cam into the picture, they still threw praises his way? The interviewer didn't back down with her advances either. No, if anything, she seemed to seem even more thrilled and encouraged. You wanted to shut off the tv, stop thinking about how you just might never get to live an actual normal life and see your younger siblings grow up to have one. Yet you made no move to shut the fuzzy screen off- hands still soaked with soapy water.
"What are your plans for the upcoming future of this city?" The news reporter purred.
"I want to build a fighting ring, and start having different forms of combat taught in schools. I want to be able to be challenged instead of always having to challenge others." You'd show that all-muscle no-brain a challenge alright...
. . . . .
Two years had passed since Ulvdanarsh became the new man in power. So much had changed within just two months of him replacing the old leader. There were in fact many fighting rings around, various types with different rules in each one. Some allowed firearms, other allowed nothing but fists. Regardless, you cringed every time your siblings came home with bruises and scratches with the new regulations of what was taught in school. They seemed rather thrilled- the youngest learning the arts of boxing while the second oldest after you took to shooting various firearms.
You hated that as time went on, they didn't flinch at any gory scenes on action or horror movies. Instead, they would get excited and rowdy and start wrestling with each other. It shattered you, realizing that you could no longer guide them through words and hart-to-heart conversations. They had been scared for most of their lives, and finally learning to fight? They probably felt powerful and in control for once. While they learned to fight at school, you had adapted to the new ways of life with emotional reluctance. You had a new goal set in mind however.
Ulvdanarsh wasn't like the previous leader. The previous one used mind games and emotional tactics to keep the people in control. Ulvdanarsh didn't want to stifle any potential of a possible new opponent. He wanted each person to embrace trying to challenge him. It made your skin crawl with disgust whenever you found covers on magazines with Ulvdanarsh's arms hooked around two promiscuously dressed women who he clearly didn't just converse with. The faces always changed but it made you feel sick at the thought that people were so willing to throw their bodies at a man who endorsed violence.
That very thought had wedged a plan into motion though. You would've rather skinned yourself and bathed in vinegar rather than do what you knew you had to do in order to have a fighting chance with this man who had changed your sweet baby siblings into blood hungry gremlins. You would do anything to put a stop to the mental changes your family was going through. You loved them, and that was all the motivation you needed.
. . . . .
Looking in the mirror, your reflection looked unfamiliar to you. You felt like a stranger in your own skin, wearing skimpy revealing clothing that hugged parts of your body you would've never considered to reveal. You hated that your body was tainted with piercings that hurt like a bitch- but it was what seemed to be Ulvdanarsh's type. Each person he ended up bedding with always had unusual piercings, so you had decided to go with ones that weren't typically normal in societal norms. You needed to gain his attention, and get close to him in order to follow your plan. The dagger you had on you was just barely hidden by the high-cut bottoms you wore, revealing the fats of your thighs but thankfully not the dagger.
You had another dagger hidden within the platforms you wore, the buckles buckled just loose enough to give you wiggle room to quickly grab the handle and make your attack if given the chance. You were hoping that you wouldn't have to be touched too much, or go any further physically to lower Ulvdanarsh's guard. You doubted you'd have to do much flirting though in order to distract him. It amazed you that for someone who managed to take down the original leader, he was more muscle than he was brain. The fact he wasn't killed yet was impressive- though the mentally intelligent people seemed to go near extinct since the previous reign of terror.
Everyone was thirsty for control and power now, and all adored the man who allowed them the freedom of being allowed to finally unchain their most viscous feelings. You had studied, researched, and practiced everything you could find in order to obtain getting in a room alone with the man who tainted your family. You made sure you were a cut and paste copy of Ulvdanarsh's type, so that there was no way he'd turn you down on initial glance. You learned to act more convincing with your "flirts" and acting as though you'd be reeeally interested in him. He showed obvious signs of narcissism, eating up all the attention he was given.
The minute someone showed interest in a different topic that wasn't him, he'd leave. So you knew everything there was about this man, from the fights he had before taking control of your city, to the things he did to keep in shape. He was rigorous when it came to keeping his body in shape- you were surprised he hadn't overworked any muscles or tendons from the amount of strain and weight he'd bare in weight-lifting, punching, and combat moves. Despite making sure to perfect everything and seal a deal in being alone with him, you still found yourself surprised you managed to get this far. You had met him at the bar he frequented, exchanged verbal interest in him, and then next thing you knew, you were alone in his spacious living room. You sat all prettily on the couch, looking up at him as he flaunted his medals and flexed his muscles. His eyes glimmered with pure delight that he was getting to brag about himself.
You didn't mean to say it out loud, yet it had slipped out nonetheless- "Don't you get bored of talking about yourself all the time?"
A blank stare was what met your question. What made matters worse was that you didn't even use the light airy tone you had practiced for months on end. The boredom you felt had been heavily visibly in your question.
"If you have better things to do, why the fuck are you pretending to act all interested in me then, doll?" Ulvdanarsh's pleasant voice had completely vanished, his expression now pinched in irritation and coldness.
Shit. You messed up big time. So much time and effort in putting yourself in the exact position you needed, and you messed it all up by voicing your own damn thoughts out loud.
"Forgive me, let me rephrase that question!" You hurriedly spoke, hands up in the air and airy voice back in play.
"What I meant to ask was, don't you feel like your only asked about your worth through the recent stuff?" You finished, holding your breath hoping that you saved this.
"What do you mean?" He asked, bushy eyebrows pinched together but the coldness thawed ever so slightly.
Good- so there was a chance you could fix your mistake and get your initial plan back on track.
"What did you have to go through in the past to get to where you are today? What were your struggles and battles? What was your motivation?" You forced out a purr, tracing a perfectly manicured nail across his toned forearm.
After one more second of a hard stare your way, Ulvdanarsh relaxed and all veins that had been popping from his building irritation dispersed. He began to relay his past, as though it was something no one had never asked him. Who knows, perhaps he never had been asked about who he was before his well-known fame today. You couldn't give two shits about him though. You weren't here to genuinely get to know the guy. He was like any other man you seemed to see in the world who was in power- control hungry and thinking with one head and not the other.
Ulvdanarsh looked practically distracted from looking at you now. His eyes said he was mentally somewhere else as he kept rambling on, tone far softer than before. His arm was wrapped around you absentmindedly, no response as to when your body shifted slightly. You nodded and hummed, keeping your gaze locked on him as you sneakily slithered your fingers closer to the dagger hugging on your leg. You were so close to finally doing what you'd been wanting to do since the day he had announced his true intentions. Your heart was racing, and the blood in your ears hummed from the anticipation of what you were about to do.
As Ulvdanarsh chuckled about whatever, you gripped the handle of the dagger tightly and made a quick swoop to pull it out of the harness it was in and making a aim at Ulvdanarsh's neck. You had been so certain that you had an opening, that he'd be too distracted, that he'd be too DUMB to even consider those he seeks physical companionship with to be capable of harm. Yet his hand tightly gripped your wrist as though he had expected this the entire time. What made your blood run cold was that his expression still was laxed and even thrilled now. You would've taken shock, disgust, or even pure rage over the look of adoration he had on his face currently. You tried to yank your arm away from his grasp, but he had an iron-grip on you, and made no move to let you go so easily.
"I was wondering when you'd finally make your move." He chortled, winking at you as though the two of you were still flirting.
Disgust wrinkled your face as you gritted your teeth and spat at him. Seeing as your one hand was caught, you made to kick your leg up and kick him in the groin or gut. He moved slightly so you didn't hit his groin, but your heel landed promptly in his gut. Not a single flinch on his face from impact, and upon impact, it felt like you stomped at a brick wall and not a person.
'That's okay' you thought, you still had one more move up your sleeve before you'd allow yourself to start panicking. You made for your hidden dagger in your platform shoe that now rested on Ulvdanarsh's stomach. The handle felt like it didn't belong in your hands, just like how the clothes felt like they belonged to someone else. You never wanted to result to violence. You always found wars and fights to be below you, as you were a human capable of thought. Not some feral beast surviving on instincts alone. You cried out when the hand that held the first dagger was pulled into a painful angle- on the cusp of snapping and breaking.
As a result from the abrupt pain and shock, your fingers slipped and the second dagger went clanking hard onto the floor. You looked up at Ulvdanarsh, actually looked at him this time, and you realized then that you never had a chance. His attitude and looks fooled you into a false sense of assumption on who he was, and what his intelligence level would be like. You doubted that he'd be capable of being on guard around those most eager to be close to him. Yet he clearly knew the saying- keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
"When did you know?" You choked out, teeth gritted together in pain from the uncomfortable angle he held your arm at.
"The second I locked eyes on you." He smiled.
"How?!"
"See, had you been listening, you would've heard me explain that before I became the muscled man I am today, I used to partake in psychology and reading people. Once upon a time, I wanted to run a business, and get along with everyone. While I may not act or look it, I look out for every language there is to be seen in someone's demeanor and body language. You were practically screaming that you wanted me dead!" He laughed, laughed as though you two were best buds joking about some miniscule thing and not the fact he knew all along that you wanted to kill him.
"So now you'll kill me, right?" You asked, feeling defeated. Years of constant fighting, years of constant struggle.
You did everything you could growing up to be a good person, to maintain a good loving home for your siblings. And yet it all seemed to be for nothing. They'd lose you, and they probably wouldn't even care. They'd think you died in a "worthy" way- fighting with intent of shedding blood. But you didn't. You never wanted to draw a blade ever. You wanted to speak, converse, meet in the middle and come up with an actual solution to fixing problems rather than cause violence.
"I guess I could, but I haven't met anyone as feisty and cute as you." He purred.
"I'll make you a deal- you tell me what it was that pissed you off so bad to want to try and smart your way to killing me, and I'll fix it."
"What's the catch?" You ask, eyes narrowing.
"You can be my pretty little doll. I've grown tired of people throwing themselves at me. It's refreshing getting someone like you instead. Stay by my side, and I can promise you won't hate it." He offered.
Why didn't he become a business man? You might've hated him far less had he been some scummy businessman who wants to cheap deals rather than some bulky beast who craves for a fight. Although it was tempting to tell him that you hated his guts because he raised a whole city of new barbarians, you had no plans of making a deal with someone who clearly was like the devil himself in being sneaky with what he had entailed for you had you agree to his deal.
"I'll pass." You scoffed. "And if you'd be so kind as to letting go of my arm-" You went to say.
Ulvdanarsh interrupted you but tugging you promptly towards him. Your wrist cried out in protest, threatening to snap at any given moment. You now sat uncomfortably on his left thigh, and only when you were forced there, did he let go of your now aching wrist. Uncomfortable wasn't strong enough to describe how you felt being in such close proximity with them man. Despite him being seen drinking beers a lot out in public, he smelled more of cologne and pine tree rather than alcohol.
"I think I'd like to get to know you." He said, voice soft and touch careful when placing a hand on your shoulder.
You cringed, trying to pull away from him, but he was stronger than a rhino. He kept you in place on his lap, in such a close distance that you could see the slight stubble on his face. You hadn't realized it yet, but you had changed Ulvdanarsh that day. He never once had interest in anyone else but himself. But you? You diverted his attention elsewhere- something new and shiny to exceed all his time and energy on.
Because you'd be in an aircraft for the next 2 years, you made sure to pack all the important things to take with you. The dingy little apartment you rented would be no more. Once you were back on Earth, you wouldn't have to reside in any small apartments anymore, and would have plenty of money to spend and buy an actual home if you really wanted to. No one was outside to give you hugs goodbye, which should've left you feeling sad. Instead, you were used to the lack of any support system, and merely hummed a goodbye to yourself. You were hoping you'd get out of this job with a bigger social circle than you do now. If not, you'd maybe move to another state- maybe even another country. Unlike most of the people in your crew, you didn't own a vehicle. You were stuck with leaving far earlier than most of them, taking both train, bus, and car to get to your final destination.Â
The space station was humongous and surprisingly lively despite you being part of a small assignment. Over the weekend, you had read and reread over the messages the old man who'd been guiding your group to prepare yourself for everything to come and what to expect. You were relieved to see you weren't the first, nor the last to arrive though. A women who was tight lipped beckoned you to follow her, a clipboard snug tightly against her chest as she led you to where everyone was waiting.Â
A comfortable loft, the chairs cushioned and for the most part occupied. You wondered if there would be anyone who wouldn't show up, and if the job would still be executed or delayed. Just as you thought this, you realized Brown was nowhere to be seen. You hoped she wouldn't be the one to not show up if there was anyone who didn't. Although you were seeming to get along with the rest of the crew, you weren't able to get Brown's gentle voice and kind eyes out of your head for the whole week. Maybe it was creepy or delusional of you, but you'd gone as far as to daydream about fun hangouts the two of you would do as best friends. Go shopping, go on a cozy walk through drizzling rain, binge watch some stupid anime and gush about the characters together. The opportunities were limitless!Â
Since Brown was yet to show up, you chose to sit next to Pink, and hoped no one would steal the spot next to you so that Brown could be by you. Before, you weren't nearly as close to Pink. This time though, you were sat right next to each other, practically touching elbows. He smelled of mango and peach, and you wondered if he was drinking. God, you hoped not. He was the pilot after all, and the last thing you needed was to be stuck in space forever because some drunk bastard decided to drink before launching off. He locked eyes with you, bright blue ones sparkling with amusement as though he heard your thoughts.Â
"Hey cutie~ I was worried I wouldn't get to see your lovely face again." Pink purred.Â
Your jaw dropped in bafflement at his sudden pet name and compliment. Was he- was he flirting with you?? Before you could say anything, Purple interrupted by saying she thought you were cute first and that Pink was trying to take all the glory of giving the crew compliments. It made you feel both relief and disappointment that Pink wasn't coming on to you. You took a mental note of who was all already here: Purple, Lime, Orange, Yellow, Pink, Blue, and yourself. Apart from Lime and Blue, everyone was conversing in moderate volumes. It was different compared to the chaos of last week, and you wondered if it was otherwise because they finally got all that energy out of their systems, or if they were trying to be on their best behaviours in front of the supervisor.Â
Despite clarification from Purple, Pink's comment still echoed in the back of your head. Once Brown was here, you were sure to tell her what happened. You were curious as to what she thought of it. You felt yourself warm up at the thought, and felt embarrassed when your eyes met Blue's. He was observing you silently. You couldn't tell exactly what was going through his mind, but you could tell he noticed your constant glance around- looking for someone. You felt like you were an idiot for getting your hopes up with someone you had only met once, but you didn't care. You needed the hope, especially in such an unfamiliar environment such as this one.Â
Instead of saying anything to you, Blue merely nodded his head and went back to watching the rest of the group. 5 minutes passed by before White came rushing in, out of breath and looking all the more flustered when they noticed the whole crew wasn't here yet.Â
   "S-sorry. I, uhf, huh, thought I was, huff, late."Â
They awkwardly took a seat across from you and next to Blue. They looked down at their lap, interlacing their fingers together. You felt embarrassed for them. You also understood why they might've thought they were late though too- it felt a lot later in the day than it really did, and it hadn't even started! Shortly after White sat down, the very person you'd been waiting for finally came in. Brown's hair was done beautifully, her hair braided with flowers intertwined in it. You went to give her the compliment, but of course mister flirt Pink had to beat you to the chase.Â
"Those flowers bring out your eyes Brown. Should I take you out on a date?" Pink asked, winking.Â
Brown's eyes widened, but was quick to brush off his comment with a simple 'No thanks' before happily taking a spot next to you. You felt like a kid with how giddy you were now that she was finally here. You told her just that too, in how excited you were to see her again. She lit up at that, happy you were excited to see her out of all people. You both began to chatter away, unaware of the rest of the crewmates. It was only when the entrance to the lounge closed loudly that you and Brown's conversation was cut abruptly.Â
Looking around, you were surprised to see everyone else had shown up, and were seated. Had you been so involved in conversing with Brown that you didn't even realize others had finally showed up? The supervisor cleared his throat, eyes narrowed at the whole group. It appeared that Brown and you weren't the only two to have been caught up in pleasant conversation. Once everyone quieted down, the supervisor was finally able to speak. It was all about what to expect, basically going over what he had already sent through email or text.Â
"If you take a look, my colleague here will be passing out some folders. These folders contains each of your assignments and jobs for throughout the 2 years you're on the designated planet. Do not try to "get ahead" of the assignments. I repeat, do NOT get ahead of the assignments. They are spaced out for a reason, and it is your job to make sure everything is charted and performed as expected."Â
Each folder handed out was colour coded, connected to each individual. When you went to open yours, it was simple checkboxes for each day of the week, that went into each month, that then spanned out for 2 years total. Glancing over at Brown's folder, you felt your stomach drop. Her folder wasn't just thick- she had about 3 or four of them. It got you curious to look at everyone's folders, and you felt embarrassed. You wanted to hide your folder as compared to every one else's folders, yours was nothing. Even Green and Blue's folders were thick with papers.Â
"Because you lot seem to not carry much common sense, I will tell you this once and only once: if something comes up where your role is required and it's not in the folder, just do it. All you'll need to do is chart that extra task and hold it in your files. We need everything pertaining to your specific role to be charted throughout, so that we can get the best out of the two yours you are gone." The supervisor finished.Â
He looked tired, as though your crew wasn't the first he had to direct and lead. You were sure not to say anything about that observation to Orange, as you were certain he's take that through the wind and claim this was in fact an experiment. Technically- it was. It was an experiment on what this new planet had to offer. Unfortunately, you wouldn't get to experience learning that yourself, but through your teammates. You wondered what made Brown's folder so big, and you'd make sure to ask once you got the chance.Â
"Now that that's over with," the old man sighed, "I want to go over the precautions we will be taking before we get you onboard the spaceship. I pray you all followed directions in not eating anything within the last 16 hours."
. . . . .
Everything was set in place. You and your fellow crewmates were buckled up tightly, appropriate space gear on in case there was a fault with the shuttle, each suit in obvious colour alignment. You felt a little bummed that your colour was gray, the least colourful colour in your opinion. Brown had argued with you earlier, that brown was a worse colour as if she were to get on anyone's bad side, they'd probably start referring her as "shit-stain". You tried to argue that at least brown carried some sort of life like the dirt that helps grow plants. Gray was like the colour of a dead corpse.Â
Eventually it was Purple who interrupted that flow of conversation and lead it to something else. By the time it was time for take-off, you felt your stomach twist with anxiety. You were no professional. You've never been in space, let alone an air shuttle. When the countdown began, you felt like you were on the slingshot ride that some amusement parks carried around. Would you pass out? Would you puke? Or would you simply sit there as though you were destined for this? You doubted it was the latter. When the countdown stopped, there was a pause, and you were about to ask if there had fault when suddenly the shuttle began to shake and roar to life.Â
Your knuckles paled as you gripped on the safety bars by yours sides for dear life. It was deafening, the sound of the engines of the ship coming to life, echoing throughout your entire body. Pink was up in the cockpit, probably expressing a lively smile on his face. You would've thought more people would've been smiling or thrilled, but everyone looked horrified, nauseous, or nervous. Red especially looked green in the face once the ship began throttling hard, pushing itself to go out of orbit. You knew that if you had to opportunity to look out a window- you wouldn't. This would b far more different than being in an airplane. In an airplane, you'd get to see the ground here and there. In this shuttle though? You'd see Earth, and eventually galaxies in the distance and no planet in sight for the next couple of weeks.Â
The shaking began to simmer down into a gentle hum, making you come to the conclusion you were finally out of orbit. Your stomach felt sloshy and empty at the same time despite not eating anything since lunch from the previous day. Pink clicked on the speakers, announcing what you had concluded, cheering everyone on with a "Welcome to space team!". Shortly after, Red was lurching up her previous meal on the floor. You cringed at the sound and sight, but felt even more sick at the realization you were custodian. Which meant you were the lucky winner in getting to clean that up.Â
"Did you eat before getting here Red?!" Black hissed, pointing out the enormous clumps of half-digested food in the pile of vomit.Â
"I couldn't help it!" Red whined, "Knowing that today was my last day on Earth, I wanted to eat a proper meal before being forced to eat air-dried shit."Â
"You DO realize we have Blue for a reason, right?" Yellow asked cautiously.Â
"Oh." Red said, face the definition of a surprised emoji face.Â
[Crew's Information]Â
Red: She really can't go a few hours without food... She helped you clean up her sick thankfully, and was rather apologetic. Despite her bottomless pit of a stomach, she spoke with you about how she got her nails done with her best friends the night before. You refrained from telling her your evening the day before, as you were sure she'd give you pity.Â
Pink: He's a lot more confident than you realized, especially caught off guard with the flirting. You feel like there might be some hidden flirting between him and Purple, but you could be wrong. He was in the cockpit for during and after takeoff. Your sure once things are all set, he'll come out to converse with everyone. Kuddos to him for piloting something as huge as this.Â
Orange: He was a lot calmer than you were expecting on takeoff. Most certainly not giddy, but not horrified. You were really expecting him to go on a tangent about how the crew wasn't actually going into space, and actually going into some virtual simulation. Maybe you should give him more credit- he isn't defined by just the superstitions and paranoia he has.Â
Yellow: He wasn't as vocal today, and seemed to be taking mental notes of every single thing. From the spaceship itself to how each individual reacted and responded to take off. You wonder why he's so keen on keeping tabs on you all? You'll have to find an opening to get to know him more.Â
Green: She shut the whole event out by wearing headphones. She must've been blasting some hardcore stuff, because she looked almost angry rather than worried. You'll have to ask her what kind of music she listens to. Maybe she'll even let you listen to her music since you yourself failed to bring any musical devices.Â
Lime: They were stone-faced the entire time. You're pretty sure they're the only one apart from Pink who had a twinkle in their eye. They are tasked as an adventurer after all. You wonder what adventures they must've experienced prior to this one...
Blue: He seems friendly and patient. Like a rock amongst crashing waves. You wonder if he really is just a cook, or if he held a different career choice at one point in his life. Though you don't know if you can muster the courage to talk to him anytime soon considering he caught you desperately looking around for Brown in the lounge.Â
Cyan: They cursed up a storm like they were a sailor upon takeoff. Green tried to offer an earplug of jim-jams to them, but they aggressively denied Green's act of generosity. Instead they pinched their eyes closed the whole time flying out of orbit. Why are they so aggressive? Is it because they're short?Â
Purple: She wasn't as excited about takeoff like you thought she'd be. Purple was fairly quiet once things had settled down. She almost looked sad. You'll have to consider checking in on her to see if she's okay.Â
White: They were fairly neutral, and seemed fairly eager to look out the windows once the crew was allowed to unbuckle. If it wasn't for the fact you'd rather avoid looking out into the endless space you now reside in, you'd follow them and see what space is all about.Â
Black: Even when takeoff was happening, she was still trying to create debate. Debate on how the countdown went, debate about the placement of the seats, and even debate about the colour of the buckles that kept you all safe and in place. She must come from a very argumentative household where they never listened to her. Why else would she be so persistent about voicing debatable topics and then arguing with anyone who dares comment back?Â
Brown: So sweet as ever. You learned that her first anime she ever watched was Ouran Host Club, and the last one she watched was Parasyte. A bit of a grim one to watch considering she herself is now in space. She doesn't seem affected by that though.
A/N: I'm thinking about instead of writing the character's information sheet at the end of each chapter, I'll draw an information sheet instead. But I don't know, because I also like to allow you guys to have creative freedom in coming up with how each character looks. I'll think about it. It really depends on the time I have haha.Â
Cleaning wasn't a skill you would've considered to be special enough to land you in a spot of working on a spacecraft. Yet here you were, meeting with the crew-to-be at the meet and greet a week prior to the day you all would take off together and explore outside of Earth. You can't recall how you really landed this position, just that you said "whatever" to a letter in the mail that was recruiting for space cadets and signing it without a second thought. All you knew was that nothing was tying you down to here. No close family, friends, lovers, or aspiring careers in sight.Â
You were content with the recruiters picking you though. It meant you'd get to experience something exciting for once, and get a really good paycheck out of it once you came back. The only sketchy thing about the whole thing was the recruiters asking you to refer to yourself as "Gray" from now on, rather than share your actual name. You profiled the people in the cramped meeting space, noting how they were dressed and what they were participating in. Each person wore a nametag with their assigned colours. It was relieving to know you weren't the only one going by a colour.Â
Pink, White, Black, Yellow, Purple and Red were all in a group, chatting away fluently. Although, Black had a pinched look on her face, as though she was itching to say something conflicting. White kept opening their mouth as though to try and add something to the conversation, but Pink and Purple were the ones practically competing to get words out and leaving White to awkwardly smile instead. Although Red was adding some conversation to the group, she was going to town on the snack table that was set up, her fingers caked in a layer of powder from the doughnuts. Yellow was the only one who looked a tad odd in the group, his eyes transfixed on every single person in the room, eyes calculating. You wondered what it was he was calculating- though perhaps you were being hypocritical in the sense you were doing just about the same thing as him.Â
Then there were a small handful of people chatting quietly, sitting on foldout chairs by the window. Orange, Green, Cyan and Brown were all talking, giving each other far more time to participate compared to the other group. Brown's eyes glanced up temporarily to meet with your gaze, and she gave an awkward yet kind nod before averting her eyes back to Orange, who looked enthusiastic about whatever he was sharing currently. You figured perhaps you would take your chance with the calmer group, as you'd rather not feel overwhelmed by strong personalities before you even started the job itself.Â
One more look-around the room, and you noticed a couple of individuals choosing to not participate in any kind of conversation. Lime and Blue. Lime had their arms folded across their chest, eyeing everyone in the room with a judgmental glint in their gaze. Blue on the other hand, leaned against the wall lazily. He had a bored look on his face, but he seemed to be listening keenly on every word being said in the room. Impressive if he really was retaining any information in the room, as the second 2 noises started to go at once, you'd be incapable of recalling either source of it.Â
Although tempting to get ahead on some one-on-one conversation, you deemed it safer to go to the more relaxed group. You'd cover more ground in getting to know your crew this way, and to take notes on who you could go to for help on what. Everyone else was guaranteed to carry an actual skill under the belt unlike you. You were just the custodian, nowhere near as important as roles like engineer or pilot. With as much confidence as you could muster, you walked up to the tame group and grabbed a seat. Brown looked up at you again, her eyes softening a little to you joining.Â
"Welcome aboard! I'm Be-Brown! I'm Brown" She introduced herself, slipping up slightly before quickly correcting herself.Â
"I guess I'm Gray," You started, waving lazily to everyone, "For the time we're together at least."Â
Orange inhaled shakily at that, rubbing the back of his head as though he was stressed out. "I swear, if it wasn't for the fact our positions are legit, I would think we were in some kind of test study."Â
"Oh yeah, can't you tell? We're all colour coded and crammed in a small room. Next they'll be dressing us up in rat suits." Green scoffed.Â
"Shut the fuck up man, we don't need screw-loose over here to think that's real. I'd rather not deal with a man in hysterics before we're even on the airship itself." Cyan groaned into their hands.Â
"I'm not a loose screw!" Orange whimpered. Despite his statement, he eyeballed the room suspiciously.Â
"Hey hey! You guys are getting a little rowdy over here, aren't cha?" Pink strutted over, swaying his hips sassily.Â
"Says the loudest mouth in the godforsaken room." Cyan grunted under their breath.Â
"What's going on buddy?" Yellow follows behind Pink, asking Orange specifically.
"He thinks we're going to be tased every time we eat cheese." Green says, a small smirk hidden behind her hand.Â
"Huh??" Pink looks absolutely stumped by that response.Â
"Oh. Bud, none of that's going to happen. They have us colour aligned because if anything were to happen while out on our trip to be, they don't want us to get too attached and feel distraught." Yellow casually explains.Â
"You think something bad will happen?!" Orange startled.Â
"No no no! They just mean that studies have shown that not sharing real names can actually help alleviate any sort of stress as a whole. Everyone can feel anonymous in some way and not feel so exposed or uncomfortable." Brown quickly comforted.Â
"That's the fruitiest shit I've ever heard." Cyan scoffed.Â
"Says the fruit loop." Green spat back.
"Why don't you two already snag each other, eh? I can sense the chemistry~." Pink taunts.Â
"Fuck off!" Cyan and Green shout simultaneously.Â
Perhaps you would have been better off picking to converse with Lime or Blue. Orange was clearly paranoid for some unknown reason, Cyan clearly wanted nothing to do with anyone here, and Green was taking too much joy in feeding Orange's paranoia. Brown seemed to be the only level-headed person, apart from Yellow. You went to stand up, deciding it was best to just finish saying "Hi" and leaving until the unavoidable. Brown stood with you, looking like she was ready to jump off a cliff with you if you were to.Â
"Please don't go just yet. I know it seems a bit overwhelming but... I think every one is just antsy about this. It's not every day average workers get picked to go on an aircraft and be a potential help to improving our own planet." Brown explained softly, looking around the room with an odd endearment.Â
   "You're like a mom." You chuckle.Â
Brown averts her gave but has a soft smile to your comment. You both wander to the other side of the room where Red, White, Black, and Purple still chat. Now that Pink and Purple were no longer competing for attention, White was actually able to get some words in. Her voice was like a sunflower, bright but delicate. With you and Brown joining the group, all eyes were on the two of you. It almost felt like too much attention.Â
"Welcome welcome! Sorry about Pink, he seems to think he's the star of the show." Purple grins, her teeth a blinding white. You'd almost think she had starred in a dental advertisement with how perfect her teeth looked. Â
"So much so Yellow had to go babysit him." Black pouts.Â
"Do you and Yellow know each other?" You ask curiously.Â
"No? If we did, I certainly wouldn't be calling them Yellow." Black huffs.Â
"Careful, that one's been trying to start a debate since the meeting started." Red whispers in your direction.Â
It looked like Red was done eating, as she had cleaned her fingers off with a quick pop in and out of her mouth. She looked content, and you wished you could feel that way. Instead, your heart was hammering away, trying to ignore the anxiety that was slowly seeping into your bones. You were never the greatest at socializing, hence your amazing career choice of custodian. You craved to socialize, yet you always felt sick to your stomach when there got to be too many people. You needed to get used to this though- especially considering you all would be in close quarters with each other for a few years starting next week. You bit back the urge to completely book it out of the cramped building, and instead held your hand out to shake with the more outgoing people.Â
None paused or faltered, and soon you had shook hands with everyone- including Red's despite her having licked her fingers. You've cleaned shit at certain points in your life, so you weren't worried about a little saliva on the hand. Brown didn't seem to think the same as you though, as she grimaced when you shook hands with Red. She quickly grabbed out a small bottle of hand sanitizer, and offered it to you. You shrugged and accepted it, squirting the alcohol-based gel on your hands before sanitizing any germs that had been exchanged through friendly hand shake.Â
"Thank." You say, before handing back the bottle to Brown.Â
After another 30 minutes or so of socializing, an older man who looked to be in his 70's came out to announce that the meeting was done for the day, and that he was glad the crew could meet formerly before the big day. More information about the job would be shared through email or text later that night, but for now he advised everyone get their rest and get any loose ends tied up before next week. You gave a half-hearted wave goodbye to Brown, and a respectful nod to the rest. You were hopeful that this was the start to some possible friendships.Â
[Information learned about crew on meeting day]
Red: She loves food, and shared her go-to was ramen noodles. She's proud to say she's the Dispatch for once the job starts.
Pink: He's very flamboyant. He's the pilot, but he could've fooled you into thinking he was an actor. He was pretty interested in talking to everyone, and didn't leave a bad impression on you. He just seems a little... How to put it? Spoiled? Self-centered?Â
Â
Orange: Very paranoid. He's a hardcore conspiracy theorist, and listens to an ungodly amount of podcasts while working on mechanical parts in his previous jobs. You don't doubt he'll download as much as he can before takeoff.Â
Yellow: He certainly meets the expectation of his job assignment. He's the note-taker. He says he's previously worked as a journalist and at one point in time, was an understudy for a detective. He seemed reluctant to share why he didn't pursue that though. Over all, seems friendly.Â
Green: Although what Pink said earlier was inappropriate, he isn't wrong that there is some unsettling amount of angsty chemistry between her and Cyan. You can relate to her position though, as she's in charge of labelling, packaging, and restocking things. She was more happy pushing buttons than anything else. She would've made for a good therapist, you think...Â
Lime: They were very avoidant of interacting with anyone else. You hope to gain more information on them next time.Â
Blue: He was equally as quiet as Lime, but when approached by a select few, he would nod and listen. Brown told you he's going to be in charge of cooking the crew meals. He must be holding a lot of recipes in his mind for him to be a man of few words. Brown gossiped to you and said she's cannoning that Red will fall in love with Blue.
Cyan: The electrician, and definitely has the sparky attitude for it. They kept glancing over at Green despite commenting aggressively about her sarcasm and egging on of Orange and Pink. You noticed their nails were painted black, you wonder if they're into scene?Â
Purple: She seems very outgoing. You hate to assume- but- you would've thought a scientist would've been more closed off or shy. Every time she spoke, it felt like she was trying to sell you something.Â
White: They're clearly wanting to talk, but no one seems to be giving them the time of day despite being an engineer. You exchanged a couple of words with them, and they seem happy to talk about nearly anything. You wouldn't be surprised if they became close with Orange or Brown.Â
Black: Red wasn't lying when she warned you that Black was waiting to start a debate. As soon as she and Orange crossed paths, both were arguing about whether or not aliens were behind the Egyptian pyramids. She doesn't seem bad, but it feels like she's almost trying to pick a fight- which isn't a good attitude for a long term job where you can't just avoid everyone.Â
Brown: She was the sweetest out of the whole group. Of course she'd be a doctor, being as empathetic as she was. You both chatted about anime, her mainly leading that topic. You really look forward to seeing her again, and getting to work alongside her.Â
A/N: It has been ages since I last wrote, so I apologize for any bumps in the writing. I also warn that my writing might be off and on since I'm in college now. I've been itching to write again though! I have another story idea, but I want to get back into the groove with this one. My partner and I have been watching a lot of ToastKen Among Us videos recently, and it inspired me to want to write a story based off the game. Criticism is welcome, but please be conscious that I write solely for fun, and am writing with what little time I do have. Until next time!Â
He never thought once in his dull life heâd ever meet someone as beautiful as [Name]. She had the prettiest smile, such shining personality, and a bubbly figure that promised warmth and perfect cuddles. The little friend group he had was quick to invite her into the group. How could they not? She was so eager to chatter about the latest crime podcasts with them, and when he saw the same passion he felt in the way her eyes glimmered, he knew right away he was in love.Â
She seemed even more eager to get him to open up to her, and treat her as closely as he did with his friends. It was difficult though. He wanted nothing more but to crack little gruesome jokes with her, and make their own unique inside jokes together. But it was nerve wracking. He didnât know her all too well, and to really top it off, he found such a magnetic attraction to everything about her that he just felt the words all freeze in his mouth before they could ever get out.Â
So he thought- what better way to overcome the crippling social anxiety he had than to really get to know [Name]? It couldnât hurt to follow around and see where she lived. Watch what she did in her everyday routine prior to going to the college campus for classes and their little crime club. Maybe find her social medias and see what sort of posts she made, who she followed, what things she liked and disliked.Â
It didnât matter who she interacted with. Online and in person, she was friendly and kind hearted to all. Even the assholes who wanted to try to beat her undenying confidence in herself down couldnât waver the glimmering ball of sunshine she was. He started to feel closer to her in a way he knew no one else could ever possibly be to her. [Name] might be entirely unaware of his company for the most of their time together, but he knew they were meant to be.Â
There was one thing that heâd noticed though. Through scrolling to find all her socials, heâd found one she hadnât shared with the group. It wasnât that bad compared to her other ones. The only difference from her mix of cutesy, horror, and crime filled interests was that she posted primarily of cases that involved cannibalism. It varied from what she was watching/listening to artworks she liked and would rave about it like she was almost in the same exact art piece.Â
There was a spark in those posts that was brighter than her public ones. He wanted to make her feel like she could share that secret part of her with him, so then they could truly become one and know each other through and through. The way sheâd greet him before the rest of his friends, the way sheâd smile at him- he knew she felt the same way he did. Sure, his buddies constantly told him he was horrible at reading people and their social cues. And sure, he was a lot more quiet than the rest which garnered more attention than heâd like sometimes. But surely he was right about his and [Name]âs connection!Â
âHey Kyle! Would you be interested in coming over to my house Friday night? Iâve been dying to watch this new horror film that came out recently. Itâs based on a true story, and from what Iâve heard- the case was a really grizzly one!â [Name] asked him one day.Â
He yearned to look her directly in her bright [Eye colour] eyes and tell her yes a thousand times. Though- he also yearned to grab her by the shoulders and squish their faces together over and over again. Never let her go and forever keep her by his side. He enjoyed his friends' company, but if he had a choice, heâd make sure theyâd never intervene in his time spent with [Name] again. So her asking him to spend time together, just the two of them? How could he pass this opportunity down!?
âUhm⊠Sure- I guess?â He awkwardly choked out instead.Â
He felt his whole face burning with embarrassment, and averted his gaze entirely away from [Name]. He felt ashamed of himself. Kyle was certain that the way heâd yank his attention as far away from [Name]âs gaze as possible made her probably feel like he found her revolting. And even worse, it wasnât what he truly wanted to do. All he wanted to do was kiss her everywhere, hold her close and tell her that every curve and roll of her was like art to him. To spill out all the sick thoughts heâd harboured for her over their time of being friends.
âPerfect! I canât wait!â [Name] chirped, wiggling the tips of her well kempt fingers in his direction as she walked away to head to her upcoming class.Â
. . . . .
You tapped your nails against the kitchen counter, staring longingly at the knife rack. Youâdâ made sure to clean the knives until they sparkled, and sharpened them to the point that just poking your finger gently at the tip caused a dot of crimson blood to bubble up. God you loved the colour of blood. It was such an alluring colour, and you wished you could just bathe in it. People tended to tell you you were like the sun itself, with how social you were to any and everyone. But you liked to think of yourself more as a blood moon. Brightening peopleâs environments, but also promising something that left people at unease.
You couldnât blame people like Kyle for being so cautious around you. You were friendly, but you were too friendly. What were your motives? You couldnât get mad if heâd decided to ditch your invitation last minute. He was always so anxious around you, and no matter how much you tried, he never opened up all that much to you. Youâd hear him raving about the tools and intentions in all the cold cases, and you admired how smart he was. He could be a detective one day. That is - he could be as long as he did actually stand you up.Â
You would be disappointed for sure. You had been so excited for tonight. Youâd get to know a little more about him for one. And you werenât lying when you said there was a new horror movie that came out that youâd like to watch. Out of everything this night could promise though, you were most thrilled about what youâd be having for dessert. You had made a savoury dinner, filled with well season vegetables and a salty tease of pork chops cut into perfect cubes. It would compliment exquisitely with what youâd planned for dessert. It was perhaps overly too hopeful- but youâd like to think even Kyle would enjoy it too.Â
Delighted at the tentative knock of your door, you were quick to bounce merrily to greet and welcome Kyle inside. He was dressed casual, just as you were. In his hand was a small bouquet of red roses, something that grabbed your attention immediately.Â
âHere.â Kyle said, holding them out towards you, all the while still avoiding eye contact.Â
You wouldâve pouted, but youâd hope that by the end of the night, heâd finally look you in the eyes and see who you truly were. He was bluntly honest to others, and you looked forward to his honest reaction for what you had in store.Â
âYou shouldnât have! Itâs almost like a date haha!â You smiled, gently grabbing them from him.Â
You were flattered heâd brought something, and something in your favourite colour for that matter. The way his face darkened into a blush, you felt a giddy sense of butterflies flutter in your stomach. How cute would it be to see him get flustered over you pecking him on the cheek? You were desperately tempted to do it- to watch his reaction go into internal shock and see the blood flow to his face.Â
Instead, you placed them on the counter, and welcomed him deeper into your home. You wanted to make him feel comfortable and at home. The funny thing was, it felt like you werenât the one leading him to your living room. You wouldâve almost mistakened yourself having been at his house rather than yours with the ease and confidence he had walking in your home. You couldnât deny it surprised you.Â
âIâve made dinner- I hope itâs to your liking.â You said, shining your signature sweet smile his way.Â
. . . . .
Kyle tended to avoid any food prepared by others that wasnât made by himself or his grandma. But he didnât turn you down when youâd offered him a plate of supper he wasnât expecting you to have made. This really felt like a date rather than just two friends hanging out. He liked it though. It was different from just eating popcorn and watching some lame movie. This felt almost intimate in a way- and he felt his heart thunder against his ribcage at the thought that perhaps tonight would be the night you two would finally express your undying love for each other.Â
You looked so comfortable on your couch. He could tell you were hesitant in sitting too close to him- probably due to his normal habits of avoiding close contact with anyone. But he didnât flinch once, and heâd garnered quiet surprise when heâd scooched just a smidgen closer to you. The warmth he felt radiating off of you made warmth pool into his chest. Kyle wished he could be bolder, be more outgoing and normal. Maybe then heâd be already holding your hand in his, intertwining fingers and inching closer to kissing you by the end of the surprisingly good movie.Â
If Kyle had been paying more attention to the film itself, he wouldâve commented on just how realistic everything looked. How real the acting felt. Even the quality of the film felt real- like you were truly watching real life events happen off someoneâs phone. Kyleâs attention was on you though- although watching you with his peripheral vision rather than direct. All the same, you were breathtaking.Â
Shivers sparked up his spine when he felt your perfectly manicured hand caress the top of his. Your touch was gentle and warm, and he craved for more. He shakily took a look up at your face for one, eyes meeting. He wouldâve looked away just as fast had it not been for this peculiar sparkle in your eyes. You were looking at him with a gaze that was not only captivating, but showed so much more interest.Â
âKyle.â You breathed out, voice lulling.Â
âHm?â Hyle hummed, his nerves melting at the closeness that was being shared between you.Â
âCan I kiss you?â You asked, hand now cradling his face.
Kyle leaned into your touch, a bundle of nerves making him feel shaky. Surely heâd zoned out and all of this was just him daydreaming? He nodded regardless. Daydream or real, he craved for more.
. . . . .
You pressed your lips into his with such tentativeness that you both had melted together. Your hands cradled his soft face, and you let yourself get lost in the texture and taste of his skin teasing yours oh so deliciously. Kyle made a slight noise, a mix of bliss and need for oxygen. You reluctantly released the lovelock you had your lips in with a pout. Kyleâs face was dazed, but he noticed the frown you had. It hurt his heart seeing you not smile- him being the cause of your adorable pout.Â
You both needed the air though- the heavy panting coming from you both was evidence enough. You were ecstatic when he hesitantly sat on top of you on the couch, careful as to not place too much weight on you. He stared at you with a look youâd never received before from past moments like this with other people. Usually theyâd have lustful gazes that would soon freeze into ones of horror. But Kyleâs⊠His had a certain lovesickness to them, and you felt your stomach grumble.Â
âI love you [Name].â Kyle said suddenly, holding your face the same way you had moments ago.Â
âWe were meant to be. Iâd do anything for us to be together, and to keep you happy. I want us to become one, and never separate.â Kyle confessed, face getting hotter in the second.Â
You felt a pang in your heart, something that dulled the quivering hunger in your gut and the racing of your thoughts. He⊠Loves you? Certainly he couldnât mean that? Youâd hardly gotten to know the man, yet you couldnât exactly say he was talking in the heat of the moment. He was honest, through and through. Even if there were heated arguments, he only ever spoke facts. Yet despite the sweet confession, your face went neutral, a slight frown painted in your eyebrows.Â
âIâŠâ You started, though for once you were at a loss for words.
Kyleâs lovestruck face widened one into panic, his eyes wide and sweet dazed smile now slightly ajar into a dreading frown.Â
âThis has never happened before.â You finally spoke, placing a hand on your forehead.Â
Kyleâs horror quickly changed to a confused one. You felt a mix of confusing emotions and thoughts. 3 years ago, youâd started your little hobby purely out of curiosity. And you liked how addicting the adrenaline all was. Getting close to people, the fear of getting caught, the exciting ways you could savour each muscle and tendon in their body. Admiring the beauty in what was held in a humanâs body. Their horror, lust, disgust, and anger? All just part of that game.Â
But seeing Kyleâs reaction be like a lovesick puppy? Seeing his fear of your rejection of his confession? You hated to admit it but it made you feel like youâd lose your appetite. Maybe you should turn him down, and heâd be the first to get away without even knowing who you really were. The thought of doing that would be the right one. Yet you couldnât do it. You couldnât let something so deliciously divine and new leave your grasps. So instead you figured youâd confess your true intentions. Expose your hobbies. Because whether or not he tried to run, you wouldnât let him.Â
âYou wouldnât feel that way if you knew what I really was.â You sadly chuckled, massaging Kyleâs hand with yours.Â
âI love you and I mean it [Name], no matter what!â Kyle retorted back immediately, determined to prove to you wrong on that claim.Â
âWould you still love me if I killed someone?â You asked, looking in his eyes.Â
âOf course! Iâd kill in the name of you, so how could I judge you?âÂ
âWould you still love me if Iâd killed multiple? Tortured them even?âÂ
âWell Kyle- what if I told you I planned to eat you, here in my home tonight?â You finally asked, waiting for his face to falter and his responses to stop.Â
âYes.â
âWhat if I told you I was a cannibal?â
âIâd still love you! None of those would scare my adoration for you away.â Kyle spoke, not a skip or stutter in his words.Â
âThen Iâd be honoured. Iâd only worry about your safety and wellbeing after you consume me.â Kyle replied back, holding your face with gentle cherishment.Â
Your heart thudded painfully against your ribcage at his honesty. He must clearly be out of his mind to love you and not fear for his life! But⊠Youâre also out of your mind for the things you find yourself enjoying. And even more so out of your mind to believe him, and not kill him on the spot. You didnât want to kill him as crazy as that sounds.Â
âIâm being serious, you know.â You said with an awkward smile, grabbing both his hands with yours.Â
âAs am I.â Kyle replied back, kissing you again with a confidence youâd never seen before.Â
He let you nibble the bottom of his lip and lick the blood that followed- he never pulled away from the toothed kiss. He only seemed to enjoy it, and so did you. You pushed him down on the couch, not bothered to look for your kitchen knife. You wanted to savour this. You wanted to savour Kyle. He was by far the most delectable treat youâve ever had, and you decided youâd make him last.Â
âStay with me?â You whispered between your bloody kisses and bruising bites that traveled Kyleâs neck, collar bone, and chest.Â
âAlways.â Kyle whispered back, pulling your weight further onto him.Â
Warning: Violence, Implication of assault, Catfishing(?)
You were so excited when someone had finally replied to your post on looking for friends. While you had posted a few things about yourself as an opening, this person had given you a little run down of themselves as well, and told you with great kindness that they were interested in chatting more with you.Â
These last few years had been agonizingly lonely. The people you tried to make friends with at work always failed miserably, and the few friends you had growing up all stopped contacting you after so long. So you figured it couldnât hurt to try online. Sure your family had all warned you countless times about the dangers of the wild internet, but how much harm could happen from just looking for a friend? Nothing more or fancy. Just a simple friendship where you could kill time together, and not be so alone in the world.Â
The two of you hit it off, talking every day for the next 2 weeks. You loved getting to hear about their interests, dislikes, basic facts, hearing about their day. Unlike before you started talking, you looked forward to the end of your work shifts and your day offs now. You both would watch shows together and make commentary on them. Youâd occasionally do all nighters and play video games until they got boring or you got too tired.Â
It was only into two months of you talking when youâd made the overwhelming discovery that youâd caught feelings for them. You had this stupid grin on your face that your family didnât fail to notice whenever your phone dinged from their messages. You couldnât stop thinking about them even when you were lying in bed trying to sleep. And every chance you were given, you couldnât help but rave about how awesome they were of a friend.Â
It was terribly embarrassing- catching feelings for your online best friend. You had no clue what they even looked like, yet your heart would skip a beat when youâd hear them chuckle on calls. They had put colour into your life in a way you hadnât expected. You didnât want to ruin this friendship though. This sort of bond was hard to come by, and by no means were you willing to sacrifice it by telling them your true feelings. No matter how much hurt panged into your heart from the jealousy you felt when theyâd show interest in others in their personal life, you just couldnât risk telling them.Â
So perhaps you were a little deluded and too quick to agree to meeting them in person in just a weekâs time. Your family called you stupid. They had every right to- you only received a single photo of what they looked like. Therefore there was a high chance they werenât who they said they were. But youâve been talking for so long now, and you both knew things about each other that no ordinary person would just know on the run of the mill. You trusted them. They hadnât given you any reason not to. Plus, how could you turn down this opportunity when they themselves had brought up the idea of finally meeting.Â
You made sure to give your family some relief by getting a hotel room for the 3 nights youâd be staying to visit your online friend. They were still overly cautious, and you couldnât understand why they just couldnât be happy for you. Sure, you were like a lost puppy in love, but that didnât mean you were oblivious to any red flags. And if your friendship with this person was such a concern, you felt like your family should tell you the exact reasons instead of just using the whole online concept on you.Â
Finally, the big day came. You felt butterflies rumble in your chest when youâd finally arrived at the meeting spot you two had agreed to meet at. You had dropped off your luggage at the hotel, and wasted no time in arriving at the little coffee shop. You happily messaged them, telling them you were finally here, and you were thrilled to finally meet them face to face after 2 months of chatting continuously. They responded back with a simple smiley emoji, and nothing more.Â
Some time had passed, and you decided to order a drink. You wondered what was taking so long, but figured that perhaps they had run into some delays. But after almost an entire hour had passed, you felt the high spirits of excitement diminish and deflate. Your drink was empty, and the messages you sent with concern were read but garnered no response. It hurt- feeling stood up. You felt your eyes burn- tears threatening to come out. But you restrained yourself from crying, no matter how sore your throat felt from holding in the shaky cries you so badly wanted to release.Â
Only once you were in your hotel room did you let it all out. The sobs that left you were ugly and loud. Youâd cried so hard that your eyelids were puffy, your nose was stuffy, and your face was a darker shade from normal. The feelings you had for them certainly did nothing to help alleviate the heart crushing pain you felt from being not only stood up, but ignored and probably ghosted. You couldnât stomach looking at your phone- and instead tossing it angrily across the room. You wanted it as far away as possible. Whatever they had to say if they did message you again meant nothing anymore. They hurt you.Â
When you had finally managed to find the courage to unbury your face from your pillow and go clean yourself up in the bathroom, there was a knock at your door. In the back of your broken heart, there was a glimmer of hope it was your friend. You were quick to snuff it out with a bitter spite though. You knew better than to let yourself be hopeful all over again after today. You were tempted to ignore the knock altogether, as you werenât expecting any hotel staff from knocking. Plus, you don't need anyone seeing the poor state of your face right now. They would probably think you got kidnapped, and having someone get concerned was the last thing you needed for the day.Â
Curiosity got the better of you though when whoever was behind the door kept knocking, persistent. Really, youâd think youâd be smarter considering you were alone in an unfamiliar area. Whoever was knocking had refrained from speaking at all, which shouldâve raised alarm bells for you. Yet you just couldnât bother with feeling alert. You were exhausted.Â
Unlocking and opening the door, you peered up at the unfamiliar stranger looking down at you. They didnât look like anyone you knew, and they werenât wearing any staffing outfits.
âMay I help you?â You asked blankly, crossing your arms.Â
âYeah, I think you could.â They replied back with a gentle smile. Yet despite the gentleness, it made your spine shiver with unease.Â
Before you could process what was happening, they were quick to push the door open wider, allowing them inside your hotel room. They pushed you back before quickly shutting the door, trapping you in the room together. You struggled to find your footing- taken aback from the suddenness of the situation.Â
You opened your mouth to scream for help, but the stranger was quick to grab you roughly and shover their hand over your mouth, muffling your shouts. Despite your exhausted and bamboozled state, you werenât that easy to just stop. You bit down hard, with every intent of drawing blood. You couldnât care less if their blood got in your mouth, or the germs they could possibly be carrying. They were a stranger, and one who showed clear sign of having bad intent towards you.Â
âShit!â They yelped, yanking their hand back to cradle the harsh chomp you gave.Â
You pulled away from their temporarily weakened state, rushing towards the bathroom to lock yourself in. You might be on the 6th floor and be unable to escape through a window, but itâd definitely save you time from whatever plans this person had for you. And if you were lucky enough, you shouting for help or them even trying to slam their way in would garner attention from your hotel neighbours and get just the help you needed.Â
You were so close. SO close. You had just gotten into the doorway of the bathroom when they had lunged and tackled you to the floor. The impact was hard, and their weight added onto your fall took the air right out of you. You let out a breathless gasp- wheezing in both pain and shock.Â
âI was going to be nice until you decided to be a little fucker and play hard. Well I can play harder.â They angrily rumbled, pushing all their weight onto you so that you couldnât move.Â
You yelped when they pushed all their weight to the point your bones were digging harshly into the floor below you. Your lungs felt constricted and you cried out silently knowing you were physically confined. You couldnât wiggle, kick, punch, or bite your way away from them. They chuckled at your weakened state, deciding to be even meaner still and grip the back of your neck with force. They didnât do anything else apart from restrict your movement and hold your neck with terrifying strength- but something in their hold promised violations worse than what was happening already.Â
âYou know, you looked so much prettier in person than I was expecting. I couldnât find it in myself to really introduce myself. Plus- you wouldâve left as soon as you saw me. I did lie to you about what I looked like after all.â They chuckled, warm breath against the back of your neck.Â
You cringed from their closeness, from their hold, from the whole situation in itself. âWhat do you want from me?â You managed to hiss out.Â
âWell originally, I was going to sell you for a gorgeous amount of cash. Youâd be surprised just how many people are easily willing to meet with a complete stranger.âÂ
âYouâre sick.â You spat, though your words did little to affect them. They only laughed at your response.Â
âCute.â They purred, using their free hand that wasnât holding your neck like a leash to stroke through your hair like you were some baby animal.Â
You went to scream out with all your might, but they were unfortunately quick to notice your plan. You cried out in pain when they slammed your face down without any remorse. Hot searing pain resonated throughout your entire skull, and everything became fuzzy and blurred. For a moment, all you heard was the blood rushing to your face and the vibrations jolting through your teeth and skull. Once you regained your bearings, you felt hot sticky liquid coating your lips and chin.Â
âDonât try anything else, bitch. I can easily decide to change my mind and sell you to people who will be far harsher to you than I could be. Youâd consider what Iâve done so far a sweet caress compared to what others would have planned for you.â They jeered, pushing your already aching face further into the floor.
âBut I admit, you did catch my attention for more than just wanting a pretty penny. I donât usually get to know my goodies this well like I have with you. So I can give you two options, and I highly suggest you really think your answer through. You can be sold, and never see me again. But I guarantee youâll wish you were dead once they do what they want with you. OR! You can stay with me. As long as you behave yourself, Iâll make you feel loved and cherished.âÂ
Their grip loosened just a little on you, and there was a smile in their voice. You wanted to spit out vulgarities at them, to curse them out until your face went blue. After that slam to the floor though? It was rather hard to concentrate on what youâd like to say and do to this asshole. You didnât realize how bad the damage was from just that one blow until this moment.Â
âWhy should I pick you?â You managed to get out.
âIâm not an idiot [Name]. Anyone could tell that youâre crushing on me hard. It was actually really endearing seeing someone so pathetic be like putty at just merely conversing with someone as awful as me.â They tittered.Â
âIâm not now,â you grunted, âyouâre a liar and a sick bastard.âÂ
âNow now, I wouldnât say such harsh things. I understand youâre upset that I wasnât up front with you.â They cooed, stroking the side of your bruised face with a gentleness that made your guts knot up with disgust.Â
âBut all those conversations and moments spent together were very much real. Youâve tickled my fancy, and I think Iâd like to further what we had going on between us.âÂ
All the fight in your system was drained. You already felt tired from balling your eyes out earlier, but now after being manhandled and slam dunked into the floor like you were a mere basketball? Nothing was really making sense. The situation wasnât graspable anymore, and everything felt spacey. You wondered if the injuries you sustained were going to permanently affect you in the future- and you felt the dread and terror of that being highly possible twinge away in a fuzzy buzzing in the back of your skull.Â
Your tormentor chuckled softly at your lack of response. Even if a high reason was because of their abuse on you, they didnât seem to care. Your body was going slack, and they seemed to notice. Finally, their weight let up on you, though the rushing of your blood reaching your poor limbs again did nothing to bring you any flicker of fight back. You continued to lay there lamely, not really understanding that the person you had once considered your best friend whoâd lied and baited you here had finally gotten off of you.Â
You didnât even flinch when theyâd scooped you up off of the floor like you weighed nothing. They gave the top of your head a quick peck, a content hum leaving them as they grabbed the luggage you had packed, though paid no interest to your phone- tossed on the floor from earlier.Â
âIf only you hadnât taken my bait of meeting up,â They smiled, âyouâd still be at home safe oblivious of who I truly am.â
It was happening again⊠You were sleeping peacefully, having some random dream that you were prone to forgetting once awake, when you were haphazardly dazed in the darkness of your room. You were confused, and felt terribly disoriented. It always took you what felt like minutes to figure out that you were in your room, when only it was at most a singular minute in real time.Â
You donât know how you manage to roll onto your back when you almost always avoid doing so for this exact reason. But here you were, face up in bed, struggling to even breathe right. It was terrifying. But what was even worse? It hurt. It hurt to feel like your chest was constricted, and you were incapable of even moving your body- feeling too disoriented and weak to move even a finger.Â
You wanted to cry out for help, but even your own vocal chords were useless in these episodes you had. You despised it, and you wished you could pinpoint the exact cause of having these episodes and avoid repeating it. Yet just when you think you finally cracked the code, you are back to square one again.Â
You tried to persist your body to move. If you were able to at least convince your body to bend even a finger, youâd be able to get the rest of your body going and get out of the sleep paralysis you were in. Yet that only hurt, and took the scarce energy you did have out of you completely. A dark room, unable to move, feeling pain and weak exhaustion, and to top things off- you were beginning to hear something in the darkest corner of your room.Â
It started small, easy to ignore and not notice. But your beating heart wasnât near loud enough to cover up the scuffling that was going on in the darkness of the very room you were in. If you werenât already frozen from the episode you were in, your body wouldâve been anchored still- afraid of attracting the attention of whatever was disrupting the silent panic you were having prior to.Â
âOh my god, what is that?â You thought fervently, feeling like you were going to cry- but even you were incapable of that at the moment.Â
You wished any part of your body would just listen to you and realize itâs not in sleep mode. You were very clearly awake, although struggling to make sense of much and having any control over the basic functions of your body. But you were well aware of your physical situation, and now unfortunately aware of the movement going on in the same space as you. You didnât have any pets in your room, nor did you share your room with anyone else. You were alone before you went to bed- so whatever was making that noise was a complete mystery. At first, you tried convincing yourself it was perhaps a rat that had managed to get in. Not a great thought- but it would be something that wasnât life threatening to you at this exact moment. You wished your eyes were closed. Because the blurry movement of something far bigger than even a child proved your rat conclusion wrong.Â
Icy fear gripped you harshly, as the thought of someone having broken into your home came to mind. What were they going to do? Were they aware of you being awake? Or were they under the assumption you were asleep? Best case scenario, they didnât even know you were here. Regardless, their motivations scared you shitless. Whether they planned to rob you or hurt you, you wished you were asleep rather than awake in this crappy predicament. Out of any time an intruder couldâve stumbled into your humble abode, of course it just had to be when you were in the midst of sleep paralysis. This did nothing to help put your frozen muscles at ease. If anything, the situation had only worsened it.Â
Your eyes couldnât pinpoint to which part of your room the noise was coming from, but you figured perhaps you were fortunate you couldnât see the perpetrator. But as your glazed, terror-stricken eyes shakily looking around, you took note of your closet door cracked open. You never left it open when you werenât looking for something. Whatever was in your room had otherwise gone in there at some point or⊠Thatâs where they originated from. It wasnât that crazy of a thought unfortunately. Afterall, you DID have a crawlspace connected to the inside of your closet.Â
What were you supposed to even do if you did regain mobility again? You could try to scream or bolt right out of your room, but if this was a human being that was shuffling around in your room- they were fully capable of just grabbing you. It couldnât get any worse, could it? Whatever was in your room mustâve sensed that question, because not even a minute after thinking that- heavy scratching began to echo throughout your room. Goosebumps painfully crossed your entire body despite how snuffy and hot it was being under your covers in a stressful situation.
You wanted this to be over. Surely this was all just part of your sleep paralysis, right? Youâve researched sleep paralysis and the causes, and youâd seen stories on sleep paralysis demons where they felt very real in the moments of paralysis- but they truly werenât. But those sounds and the oddly giant darker shadow that jerked and moved across your room occasionally- they sounded more than just real.Â
With no warning, the sounds stopped almost too sudden. The silence was deafening, and all you could do was breathe the best you could despite wanting to hyperventilate or cry out for help despite knowing how futile the action would be. Oh shit! Fuck! What the hell!! The motions and movement was so subtle you hadnât even realized that whatever was in your room, had clearly set eyes on you. Their hands were raking ever so slowly up onto your mattress, at the foot of your bed. Where your bare feet were exposed. They mustâve sprang free at some point when youâd managed to wiggle your way onto your back in your sleep.Â
Your feet had been the only part of your body that wasnât feeling sweaty and humid. But they werenât cold like they were just mere moments before- the entity in your room breathing right on your feet due to their horrifyingly close proximity. You desperately wanted to pull your feet up under the cover, or even ram your root hard into their face in hopes of breaking something. But of course your body couldnât just cooperate. You didnât know what was worse- not being able to see any distinguishable features of the intruder or being able to just make out their figure in the darkness roughly. Either way, there was no win in this situation. It felt unnatural and inhuman with how slow they were moving closer to you. But soon enough you were aware of the dip in the foot of your bed- implying they were climbing their way onto your bed- full weight ahead.Â
Somehow, that seemed to kick your body into wake mode. You were finally able to muster out a garbled sound that almost sounded injured, and your body jerked back abruptly. There was no strength left, but it had been enough of a jolt that you were not longer directly on your back- although the new position you were in was just as uncomfortable as it was being on your back.Â
You couldnât see at your foot of the bed- but you couldnât feel it in your sleepy dazed frayed mind to care anymore. You were beyond exhausted, both mentally and physically. Your eyes struggled to stay open, and soon enough you felt yourself haphazardly lolling into a scrambled sleep that promised bad dreams.
. . . . .
The warm sunlight peaking past your curtains was a happy welcome as you came to from sleep. Your body felt loppy and loose in the joints as you sat up and stretched. Your only telltale sign that you in fact had sleep paralysis. Upon coming to that conclusion, the memories sprang back about what had happened. Your attention snapped to your closet door- holding your breath with panicked anticipation.
Your shoulders sagged with relief upon seeing the door was closed like you had left it. This was the first time youâd ever experienced a paralysis demon. You just hoped itâd be the last time too. The experience of last night had been ten times worse than just your average episode, and you didnât think your heart could handle another terror like that anytime soon.Â
You stood up, getting ready for the day. Scavenging around for some clean clothes so you could run your errands and chores. You were about done, ready to toss your sweat-soaked pjâs into the hamper in the corner of your room when your body froze. In the corner of your room, there were deep long scratches etched into the wall. Maybe the stupid part of you couldâve tried kidding yourself into believing it was an animalâs but⊠They werenât just scratches. They were words, carved with a ferocity that made you decide you were going to see if you could stay with a friend for a while.Â
âU R PRETTY WHEN U SLEEPâ
A/N: Thankfully I've never dealt with movement or sounds when I've experienced paralysis, but absolutely horrible regardless. This was inspired by that :') Sorry if the tags are wonky, I didn't know what all can really apply to this so I tried my best o7
You were just laying in bed, scrolling endlessly on your device. It was the same old routine youâd had since middle school, taking in all the information you saw off your lit screen and then forgetting it the very next day. It was fairly late- well-past having had dinner but not so unimaginably late that you were going to be painfully tired for the upcoming dayâs events.Â
There was a tidbit you glanced at that made you snicker when you heard a peculiar noise. It sounded like stumbling and rustling about- something you were rather quick to brush off as one of your relatives/housemateâs in the house. It wasnât unlike them to make an odd noise every now and then. When you first lived together, youâd get startled and overthink the noise only to soon realize they were just one of those people whoâd make a ruckus at an odd hour- whether accidental or being too rowdy.Â
Just like you would have thought, those noises quieted down, and it slipped your mind just like all the irrelevant information you were staring at with sleepy strained eyes. You really should be sleeping at this point- if you stayed up too much later, you were sure to be foggy-brained tomorrow. Yet there was no intention to stop your brainless scrolling. Not to get out of bed, or turn your light off. The lazy side of you is far more compelling at the moment rather than being a responsible adult and going to bed.Â
Really you probably wouldâve been better off asleep. You wouldâve been too disoriented to process the situation and wouldnât have felt the terrified distress you felt when with no warning - (though really the odd noises from earlier shouldâve been warning enough) an unfamiliar man slammed your door open and began barking like a feral dog.Â
Your heart dropped into your throat, and you simultaneously felt like you were going to throw up and bawl your eyes out. You were so shocked at the abruptness of it all, that your scream couldnât even register in your brain. Therefore, you stared all bug-eyed and muted at the intruder. He had slammed your door so hard that it splintered and left a nasty hole in the wall where the doorknob smacked. Â
The man himself was clad in dark clothing, a thick jacket that promised warmth against the cold elements outside, and heavy boots laced securely and tightly. His eyes pierced right into yours, and what scared you far more than him jumping in like a lunatic, was that his eyes were that of a sane man who was aware of his actions. You struggled to push yourself up off your bed, to stand into a defensive stance. Your whole body was shaking with adrenaline. Who was this?!
His smile was toothy as he howled and barked, body steady and frame intimidatingly towering. He took a heavy step closer to you, testing your reactions. You couldâve scrambled further away, or shouted for help. Hell! You couldâve even threatened to call the police with your phone in hand. But did you? No. Instead you chucked your phone at him. You threw your only source of possible saving at the threat itself.Â
âW-Who the hell are you?!â You cried out, finding it rather hard to not only find your voice, but keep your voice from wavering and you bawling your eyes out.Â
He was a cruel man though. Instead of answering you verbally, his smile only got bigger. There was not a single feature on him that was familiar. He was a stranger, and a stranger that had broken in. You would have assumed he was drugged out of his mind or even mentally deranged, but his actions were calculated. There was this horrifying sparkly in his eye that screamed he was all here, and he had plans for you.Â
âGET AWAY!â You screamed, as he took yet another thundering step. He was only an arms reach away from you, and you could smell the burnt firewood off of him, along with something else you couldnât quite put your finger on.Â
âBut youâre just so pretty! I want you aaall to myself, sugar.â He spoke, his voice surprisingly smooth despite his daunting figure.Â
If you had bumped paths in the store or just a public space in general, you wouldnât have ever taken a second glance at him. He really didnât fit your stereotypical obese incel or scraggly creep. Hell, he didnât even meet the deranged online fantasy of some freak being handsome. He was average, and it scared you that he looked average/ Yet he was clearly capable of criminal things despite his average looks.Â
He moved a lot quicker this time, no longer moving slow and being abrasively loud. Just like when heâd first slammed your door open, entering in like he owned this place. He was face to face with you, noses touching, and hands roughly holding your shoulders- pinning you in place. You felt the warmth of his breath hit your face and a mix of a scream and sob came squeaking out of you. Your legs felt weak and you swore if he wasnât holding you in place, you wouldâve collapsed.Â
âMine mine mine!â He chirped happily, quick to kiss your left and right cheek as well as your forehead with each âmineâ. His lips were soft, but his stubble poked you. Despite the softness, you wanted to puke. You wanted to scrub your skin off with a cheese grater from just those kisses alone.Â
Too much was happening all too quickly for your poor sleep-deprived brain to process. Your heart was thumping deafeningly into your chest and ears, and you felt like you couldnât even swallow with how dry your mouth had become. You wanted to shout for help. You wanted to shove this ghastly stranger off of you and push him down a flight of stairs. You wanted to wake up in a stuffy hot sweat in bed- realizing this was all some screwed up nightmare.Â
Yet none of that happened. He was as real as you. And it didnât matter how unfamiliar he looked or how average his appearance was. He was here to take you, and you couldnât stop it. Heâd haul you out of your own home, to who knows where, and treat you however he deemed fit until heâd get bored and murder you. But he didnât kiss you any further, and his touches didnât lower. He just looked at you with those horrible eyes of his, smile unfaltering. He was practically buzzing with delight at just looking at you. You failed to notice the slight blood splatter on his jacket and knuckles- failed to think about the whereabouts and safety of the people you lived with.Â
âYou should sleep, yeah? We have a looong road ahead of us, pretty little angel. My angel. Mine. Weâre going to make a good couple, and a good family. Cute little kids. Weâll tell them about this. How I heard from the Gods that this house had my true love inside. Waiting just. For. Me!â He chattered, booping your nose with the last word.Â
âI donât- I donât even know who you are.â You croaked out weakly, feeling limp and numb. Really- how could any of this even be real? This was not on your 2025 Bingo card.Â
âThats okay.â He replied curtly, smile dropping to a neutral expression instead.Â
Not allowing you to say anything further, he swiftly grabbed you by the waist and lifted you up over his shoulder. You were spacing out, so there was little to no objection. Not even when you noticed the motionless legs that peered out from the kitchen entrance when he carried you out of your room and out into the night. You felt empty, like a hollow shell. There was no way this was real- even though you knew it was, you didnât feel like it. Really, you wish that the moment he had gently placed you down into the passenger seat, youâd have ran out and ran until you were somewhere safe.
But how could you? When you felt so paralyzed with fear? So empty from the shock? So exhausted from your mistreatment to your body? He whistled as he got into the driver's seat of his truck. He buckled your seatbelt for you, giving you a quick peck to your hairline, before starting up the truck and driving you further and further away from the life you once knew.Â
It was insane to think- that this all had happened in just the span of 6 minutes.
With how distressing the previous day was, you were nowhere near ready for another call of yet another victim. Let alone were you ready for work as is. You yearned to have today off, to not have to come in or deal with anymore craziness of the continuous bodies that were being found since this month began. You just wanted to forget about it all and hide away in the comforts of your apartment, binge watching your favourite shows while gorging away on unhealthy food.Â
Yet you managed to force yourself out of bed regardless. You knew Holly needed the support, and wouldnât forgive you if you decided to call in today. Plus, the safety of the citizens in this city depended on you showing up for your scheduled time. Youâd just be causing more stress to the department if you were to call in.Â
Following your usual routine in the morning, you eventually got out the door and went on your way to the police department. You decided youâd try to lift the mood even just a little, and purchased a couple boxes of doughnuts and muffins for everyone to share. You helped yourself to one of your favourite baked goods before everyone else dug in, since you were certain theyâd all devour the goodies within a mere 5-10 minutes. The drive felt peaceful, no radioing yet and no silly jokes or stressed exchanges with Holly. You appreciated the friendship you two built together, but it felt nice to be in the car alone- even if it was just for a little bit. The calm before the storm.
Parking into the parking lot, you gave Holly a quick text:Â
âI just got here. Get out here and help me, would uâÂ
âNot gonna ask huh?â She replied, which shortly followed with a sad emoji.Â
You awaited her quick appearance, and you both soon entered the building. Upon a short glance at the two of you placing giant boxes down on the lounge table, everyone was up on their feet if they werenât already. Within mere minutes, the boxes were practically empty. Those greedy bastards⊠It was worth it though, seeing all of them eager to grab a bite and then quick appreciative thanks towards your way. It felt good helping, even if it was small. Jack walked in, and faked being hurt when he noticed everyone chowing down.Â
âDid no one save any for me?â He mumbled, walking towards the boxes to see the boxes emptiness stare back at him.Â
âYou greedy pigs.â He grumbled.Â
âDonât worry captain, you werenât forgotten.â You chuckled, giving Holly a nod.Â
Holly dug out a small plastic container, which contained Jackâs favourite jelly-filled doughnut with powdered sugar sprinkled generously on top. Although it was evident he wasnât actually upset about the empty boxes, he lit up upon seeing that the two of you made sure to save him his cherished baked good. He happily took it from Hollyâs offering hands, though noticing the two of you with giant grins, quickly cleared his throat and went back to his pseudo expression.Â
âThank you. I appreciate your consideration of me. As your chief, Iâd almost think you were playing favourites if I hadn't been saved anything.âÂ
âIt was no problem really.â You waved away, eyes averting to the rest of the officers in the room.Â
Everyone was eating, chatting, looking at the reports before role calling started. You were glad you didnât call in. Although these last few days had been harder than an average day on the job, seeing everyone together and content made you feel like there was still normalcy despite how things had been going.Â
It seemed Jack too noticed, and decided against clapping his hands to start role calling just yet. Which made you think that there was a possible chance of bad news once more. Holly mustâve picked up on it too, as her smile twitched. But before the thought of what was to come arrived, she was quick to draw her attention to you and clap you on the back rather roughly.Â
âSO! Got yourself a hot little date huh?â Holly barked, a smirk playing on her lips.Â
âI guess you could say that.â You said, feeling a tinge of warmth at the tips of your ears at the abrupt mention of your upcoming date.Â
âWell look at you finally catching some fish. Where are ya thinking of going for the date?âÂ
âWe havenât been able to talk too much but we were thinking about the park.â You responded curtly.Â
Holly gave you a knowing look- as though she could read your mind on how badly you wanted to gush about the excitement you felt. She didnât tease you though, and instead gave you a closed-eyed smile.Â
âIâm happy for you. You totally have to keep me updated on how things go!â
âWell obviously- youâre like my best friend, Holly.Â
. . . . .
You were in fact correct. Another body had been found, in a very similar way that the previous two bodies had been found. Chest ripped cleanly open, heart pulled out, with an object protruding through the poor muscle. It was then discussed that there was a high chance that you had a serial killer on your hands, and they seemed to be taunting the police with the bold locations the victims were presumably murdered in.Â
Thankfully, Jack decided to give mercy on you and Holly for the day. You two were tasked with different assignments, ones that didnât align with investigating todayâs crime scene. Instead, you were on mere lookout, making sure no one was speeding. For another day of a poor innocent person being killed gruesomely, it was strange how the world moved as if nothing happened. The world kept moving, even when something terrible happened. Something you thought was both depressing but relieving.Â
You and Holly exchanged a few words for the most part, and despite the stress that creased at her brow, she refrained from her usual habit of smoking cigarette after cigarette. You quirked an eyebrow, seeing her leg bounce haphazardly.Â
âYou didnât get your usual snow intake?â You quirked, trying to lighten both Holly and your nerves.Â
âHowâd you know?â Holly feigned surprise.Â
You were aware that the small smile she gave you was strained. You wished there was more you could do for her in this situation. Even though both of you knew what being on the police force entailed, it never made these grizzly murders any less nerve wracking and emotionally upsetting.Â
âThe woman could smell the stench of cigarettes coming off of me last night,â Holly began, sighing as she leaned back in her seat, âShe was chewing my ear off before bed, and then again this morning. Said she doesnât need to lose me from these toxic little things.â Holly chuckled tiredly, dangling a box of camels lazily.Â
âIâve tried chewing gum, tapping my leg, breathing exercises even. But it just doesnât take the nerve wracking edge I feel from these last few days like a cigarette does.â
You patted Holly empathetically on the shoulder. You were well aware that addiction took many forms, and when it had its grasp on someone, it was a constant battle to get rid of. Perhaps youâd have to pick up more gym days together, because at least then thatâd distract Holly a bit more right before work.Â
âWell lets talk about some random things then. Take our minds off of whatâs been happening for a little bit, so you can catch a breather- yeah?â You asked Holly, looking into her eyes with meaningful concern.Â
âAh geez, donât look at me like that!: Holly whined, shoving you roughly away, though there was a genuine smile playing at her lips now.Â
You smiled back, glad to see that the tension in the air had lessened just a little. Seeing your colleague and best friend smile felt like a weight off your shoulder.Â
âSince neither of us work tomorrow, do you want to come over for dinner then? We could hang out around town while waiting for Wilma to get home before then.â Holly asked, clasping her hands together and placing them behind her head.Â
âYouâre inviting me, a lowly peasant, to your grand house?â You gasped, placing a hand dramatically to your chest as though the wind had been taken from you.Â
âCareful, if you donât mooch up to me now, I might feed you to our feral beast!â Holly threatened, using a âroyalâ accent, albeit a very terrible one that you couldn't help but cringe at.Â
âYou couldnât be talking about your little ankle biter. I give that little shit all the love and attention like itâs my niece.â You snorted, keeping your eyes out on the passing vehicles.Â
âMaybe she wouldnât be so lovey dovey with you if you didnât fatten her with human food and dog treats.â Holly scoffed, crossing her arms as her gaze narrowed at you.Â
âOh shoot- you know?â You asked, awkwardly smiling as you now purposefully avoided looking at Holly directly.Â
âIâd be a moron if I didnât [Name]. She gains like 5 pounds each time you come over.â Holly sighed.
You muttered a puny apology, feeling bad that youâd risked her chihuahuaâs health with your loving spoilingâs. There was a couple moments of silence that fell between you two, before Holly finally broke it by asking if tomorrow was a deal then or not.Â
âYeah, of course! But Iâm only coming because I have to apologize to Casper for spoiling her too much.â
Still half asleep from just waking up, you had to take a double take at the notification that was displayed brightly right underneath the time. Anangjeet had actually responded back to you- and by the looks of it- he seemed very interested in getting to know you more! The sleepiness was knocked out of your system, and instead you felt a new pep to your step as you quickly got dressed so you could read his response and savour every carefully typed word.Â
âHey [Name], Iâm flattered that someone as gorgeous as you messaged me. Honestly I feel like I shouldâve been the one to message you first, seeing how lovely you already are from first impressions alone. Iâd love to have lunch sometime together and get to know you more. If you are interested of course! :)âÂ
You wanted to type âyesâ a thousand times over but fought it. You werenât some high schooler who was asking their childhood crush out. You were a grown adult, a working citizen of the law, and you needed to keep yourself composed and mature. So you wrote back that you were free on the sixth, and that anytime and anyplace was good with you. Though you still felt your heart skip a beat at the prospect that maybe, it was finally your time to shine.Â
You swore under your breath when you realized you let your childish giddiness distract you from the time, and you rushed out the door so you could make it into work on time. No stops at the coffee shop this morning, you suppose. But the sacrifice of not getting a good caffeinated drink was well worth it when you had a possible date on your day off.Â
. . . . .
You were in the middle of role call when there was a call made. Another body had been found, and the grave silence that fell upon the department was bone chilling. Jackâs eyebrows were pinched together at the news, arms crossed as he seemed lost in thought. Holly placed a hand to her forehead, disbelief clear as day.Â
âUnbelievableâ she whispered, where only you and Abraham who was nearby, could hear.Â
Quiet chatter began to fill the room and Jack had to silent everyone abruptly. He cleared his throat, drank a quick gulp of water from a tiny paper cup, and cleared his throat again.Â
â[Last name], Weiss (Holly), and Larson (Abraham), Iâd like you to go to the crime scene and investigate. Get information collected and ready for the detective when he arrives.â Jack finally ordered. âAnd the rest of you, please collect your assignments through Ally today.â Jack finished.Â
At that, everyone dismantled and went about their ways to follow orders. You looked over at Holly and Abraham, wondering why Jack chose the three of you over the more experienced officers in the room. Youâd have to ask when the time was appropriate you supposed, and soon the three of you went to your selective vehicles to go to the designation Jack quietly gave you once the majority of officers had left to go about their day.Â
Once more, just like yesterday, Holly had a cigarette lit as you drove and she sat in the passenger seat. The silence felt unnerving, and you wondered what Holly had on her mind for her to be so deathly quiet apart from the frequent inhale and smoky exhale from her tobacco stick.
âI did not want to see a crime scene this early in the morning today.â Holly sighed, closing her eyes as to block out the current situation.Â
âI donât think anyone ever does.â You mumbled.Â
With an unspoken glance at each other, you both had thought the same thing: whoever killed this poor soul clearly would have disagreed. Although the drive wasnât quick, it wouldâve been nice to have driven just a bit longer to avoid the inevitable scene youâd have to investigate. But as officers, it was your duty to carry through what was assigned, and to hopefully bring justice to the victim and their more than likely grieving family.Â
Gun tightened securely to your holster, and camera made sure to be on while you investigated the scene, you made sure everything was ready to go before exiting the driver's seat. Holly followed behind, already looking around nervously at what appeared to be a decent neighbourhood. Clean yards, well kempt homes, even a children's playground out in the nearby distance.Â
Abraham was already at the body, which was covered as to avoid any onlookers from seeing the grizzly sight. He looked lost in thought, as though his eyes were looking past the covered corpse and not at it. You awkwardly placed a hand on his shoulder to try and give a silent reassurance of comfort. He jumped just a tad, but upon looking up at you, his shoulders untensed and he gave you an uncertain smile.Â
âGood, I was afraid Iâd have to wait for you three to arrive here.â Jack said, interrupting the mournful silence, âLet's start investigating what we can before they pick up the body for further inspection.â Jack finished, already on his way to doing his own looking around.
. . . . .
There was thankfully only one person whoâd been unfortunate to stumble across the victim's mangled corpse. An older woman, who could not wrap her head around what sheâd come across. Sheâd answered all your questions, saying sheâd been on her morning stroll at approximately 7am, when sheâd noticed the victim. She thought at first they were some drunk, whoâd passed out in someone's yard. But that was regretfully not the case.Â
The roommates were deemed to be a bit more frustrating when questioning. One seemed oblivious to everything around her, laughing stupidly and flirting with Abraham with little to no shame. Holly had kirtley reminded the girl of the situation, which resulted in an âOhâ face and an awkward âI got to goâ from her after. The other two couldnât stop arguing, both pitting blame on the other.Â
You took note of this, as the three were possible suspects. When contacting the family, you felt your heart twinge with pain at the abrupt gasp and cry of the mother. She howled out so loud you wouldâve thought sheâd gotten stabbed in the heart herself. And to a degree- she did. You felt horrible, being the bearer of bad news. You tried comforting her to the best of your abilities, and asking if she had anyone else she could be with during this time as it was best she wasnât left alone.Â
She choked back her tears as all she could muster was a pinched nod before curling into herself. You helped lead her into her house, while Holly went to go contact the rest of the family so that they could all be together during this time. You gave the women tissues, and words of reassurance that the police wouldnât rest until they find who did this. You didnât want to ask since she clearly needed some time to mourn, but you needed to while feelings and thoughts were fresh: âDo you have any idea on who mightâve wanted to hurt her?âÂ
By evening, you had a rough list of all possible suspects, time and place of everyone who knew her, and any extra information about what you could get. And thankfully, at long last, the detective put on this case had finally arrived. They stood tall, with a strong air of confidence and solitude. When you tried to chat casually with them as to lighten the mood, the sharp gaze they gave you made your lips shut tight and you avert your gaze as you ended up silently handing them the report and all information you, Holly, Abraham, and Jack had obtained.Â
Once getting back into the car, you felt exhausted. All the energy you had this morning evaporated, and you still had 8 more hours to go while on the job. Holly seemed just- if not more- as drained as you, as she slumped into the passenger seat and burrowed her head into her arms. It wasnât until you heard small sniffles that you realized she was crying.Â
âHey, hey now- are you okay Holly?â You asked, eyebrows raised in concern. You placed a hand on her shoulder, giving her a small gentle rub to try and ease her nerves.Â
âYe-yeah. I just, that was hard. Being on the job for 10 years, youâd think youâd get used to seeing the messy parts of the job but⊠I canât get over how torn up the mom was.â Holly managed to say between sniffles and pauses.Â
You agreed. Yet the world continued to go round, and time did not stop despite the heavy mood due to recent events. You both decided you deserved a well earned drink and sweet treat. It was about time to take a lunch anyway.Â
The abrasive sound of your alarm pulled you out of your deep sleep, and you groggily shut it off to give your brain a minute to still and wake up a bit more. It was still dark out, but there was a light tease of lighter blue in the horizon that promised itâd get lighter out soon enough. You dragged yourself out from under the warm comforts of your covers, and shuffled your way towards the bathroom to go and brush your teeth.Â
The things you had to do for keeping up with your health felt more like a chore than it did anything else. Yet you still did it, wanting to avoid going to the dentist and having to pay a load for fixing one measly cavity. After finishing up in the bathroom, you haphazardly dressed into your workout outfit and grabbed your bag with your work uniform, water bottle, light snack, and a towel in it.Â
Pulling your phone out, you popped Holly a quick message that you were going to be leaving in a minute and would see her shortly. Your routine was monotonous and bland, and although you wish for more excitement most of the time, there were small moments like this where you could appreciate the steadiness your life had that most werenât fortunate to experience as frequently.Â
With a short drive to the local gym, you had yet to see Holly nor her car. With a tired sigh, you decided to scroll through KitKotâs to pass the time. Usually Holly didnât take too long, so you werenât going to get too involved in anything other than short videos that were easy enough to scroll and quickly forget. After the 18th video, you heard multiple taps on your driverâs seat window which garnered an abrupt glance.Â
You hadnât realized your hand had absentmindedly gone for the âgunâ on your belt- which wasnât on you as you were off duty for the moment. But upon seeing it was only Holly who mischievously wiggled her fingers at you- finding it amusing to have startled you- you huffed a sigh of relief. You felt silly for thinking there could be any possible threat this early in the morning- but you could never be too careful. Unlocking your door and hopping out, bag in tow, you made sure to lock your car back up once out.Â
âTook you long enough.â You grumbled, elbowing Holly lightly into her side as you both began to head towards the entrance of the gym.Â
âYeah yeah, sorry I want to wish my wife luck at the hospital again. Didnât take you for being clingy.â Holly teased.Â
You could only groan in fake-annoyance at her jestering. Youâd never admit it, but you did appreciate the friendship you had. Seeing as you had no friends outside of the ones you made at the station, and no family to go back home to after, her companionship was what kept you sane enough and not fall into the deep end. Following your usual regime, you began to do your stretches and little warm ups before getting too into extreme exercising.Â
For the next hour, you both proceeded to do a variety of exercises that kept your strength balanced and well rounded. Jogging, lifting, pulling, balancing, and punching a punching bag a few times even, by the end of it all- you both were covered in a grimy layer of sweat from the continuous workout with little to no stop. A quick shower in the shower room and a change into your uniforms, you both were ready to get going to the police station to start work.Â
Arriving into the parking lot, you knew right away that today was going to be different. There were many cars parked, more than on a normal day. Meaning the whole police force was inside, even the ones who were supposed to have the day off. Getting out of your car, both you and Holly met at the entrance and proceeded to give each other puzzled looks. For once, neither of you had anything witty or silly to say before going in.Â
There was no role call, but instead a sheet you and Holly had to sign upon coming in. Further inside the department, the room was stuffed full with grim faced officers. And standing amongst them in all his glory, was the captain. A concentrated furrow of his brow and his arms crossed sternly, Jack looked as serious as when his wife had divorced him (Abraham may or may not have had something to do with retelling that information to you) and was stricter than normal.Â
âIs that everyone Pauline?â Jack asked the desk woman, who also occasionally worked as dispatch when the normal dispatcher was unavailable.Â
With a short hum and a quick scan of the signed sheet, Pauline nodded with a click of her tongue. Jack clapped his hands upon the first good news of the day.Â
âGlad you all could make it. As you can tell, today is different from our normal routines. Unfortunately, this morning there was a call made about a homicide. Normally I wouldnât pull you all into one case, but this case isn't something Iâve seen in a long time in this city. Iâd like for you all to BOLO (Be on the lookout) for any suspicious activity these next couple of weeks, and report anything, no matter how miniscule it may seem.â Jack announced.Â
After that, those who came in for the announcement solely left to go back home, while the rest of you on duty were given your assignments before being given the okay to leave. Even after you and Holly had inspected your patrol car, making sure everything was in place, you felt dumbfounded about the meeting. There was a homicide, and the brisk details that had been given was that that made your stomach do flips in uneasiness.Â
âThere really are some sick people out there.â Holly muttered, smacking a pack of camels against her hand to pack any misplaced tobacco back in place, before pulling a stick out and lighting it with ease.Â
You crinkled your nose upon the strong scent of cigarette, but you didnât say anything to Holly about your distaste for the stench. After all, she only had the nasty habit when she felt overwhelmed and wanted to ground herself. You could only nod in agreement to her statement, before grabbing the radio and advising the dispatcher that you and Holly were now in service and ready for work. The dispatcher gave a respectful curt response back so youâd know they received your call, before placing the radio back into its respectful spot.Â
. . . . .
Even when youâd gotten a call stating there were noise complaints in an apartment complex near you and Hollyâs lookout spot, even feeling nervous about the rowdy group of hooligans that made you wonder if they had guns on them, you still couldnât get that meeting out of your head. You donât know why it was glued to your mind. Maybe it was because it wasnât a common thing that happened in your city. Or perhaps it was because it had happened in the month of love. Though, why would a silly over-amped up holiday stop a criminal from killing or committing crime?Â
You wondered what the motive couldâve been. Was it a lovers dispute? Or did one catch the other being unfaithful? Maybe it was a stalker, whoâd gotten so obsessed that when the victim had chatted with someone, they killed out of pure jealousy. The possibilities felt endless and you wondered just how detectives managed to solve homicides without getting lost in the countless causes for murder.Â
You were pulled out of your thoughts when one of the teenage boys of the group decided to think itâd be funny to spit at Holly. Nasty little chortles came out of their mouths, and you can Holly gave one silent glance of communication to know that it was time to bring these boys a rude wake up call.Â
âHands behind your back.â You commanded, whipping out handcuffs while Holly with a disgusted look, made sure to have her hand near her taser as she radioed in that you were going to be arresting one of the troublemakers.Â
âI didnât do anything! You arenât the law, pig!â The instigator shouted, still smug and being fueled by his friends cheering him on for his resistance.Â
âSpitting at an officer and resisting? Your legal guardians arenât going to be very happy when they hear from us.â You commented blandly before signalling for him to listen now.Â
âYou donât know jack shit about my parents, and theyâll sue your asses for arresting me for nothing!â He hissed.Â
Mustâve hit a nerve. Poor kid being led to the wrong side of life and still in his heart still caring about how his parents see him. You wondered what it was these days with teenagers. Why theyâd gotten so angry and choose a path of crime and disruption of others. You didnât really want to âarrestâ him persay, but take him to the station, call his parents in, and hope that maybe the kid could get some sort of realization that this isnât a good life choiceÂ
. . . . .
Once more a long day. After having the dispute with the teen troublemaker and having an hour-long conversation with him and his tear-stricken mother, you had to report the whole incident. The morning meeting also still swam in your tired mind, still coming up with the various motives behind the killing. And after all of the events of today, you were finally home sweet home.Â
Your little dingy apartment was small, but it was comfortable for the current life you were living. However, you dreamed of one day moving into a bigger apartment, one with your future significant other. Maybe you could have a kid or two, have a happy little family. Hell, maybe youâd even pursue a different career choice- spend more time with your little family and not fear for your life every day when on the job as an officer.Â
Dinner was chinese takeout, along with a small tub of ice cream for dessert. You put on your favorite show to binge watch while you ate, and laid back into your couch. You had thrown your uniform into the public washing machine just downstairs, so you couldnât just sleep right after eating unfortunately. After eating, you decided to scroll through your dating app in hopes of finding someone whoâd be interested in going on a date with you while your show played on in the background.
So many douchey looking men who clearly wanted hookups and many uptight women who looked like they just wanted a free meal. You knew maybe you were being too harsh, but after having been on one too many failed dates with people who had similar bios like these other people, you realized what people to avoid interacting with. You wanted a serious relationship. Not a little fling.Â
Then you saw him. His profile looked thought-out, the bio sharing what he was looking for and a little peek into who he was as a person. His photo wasnât staged or forced, he had used a photo of him relaxed in a relaxing moment of his life- sitting in front of a grand piano, looking intricately down at the keys his fingers were on top of. Maybe you were shooting too high, but you figured it didnât hurt to pop a message to him. You didnât have anything to lose anyway.Â
With you messaging the man named Anangjeet Morrigan, you turned your alarms on for the morning, threw your clothes into the dryer, watched random videos, and soon went to bed following after bringing your dried and folded uniform back to your apartment room.
Cupid Killer - Somethingâs in the air, and itâs not just love. There seems to be a serial killer on the loose, actively killing victims they meet on dating sites. Youâre just a mere police officer, looking desperately for love yourself. Never did you think you'd find your other half in your lifetime- yet life seemed to have crazy plans for you.
It was once more that time of year again where romance and love was in the air. Partners buying cheesy gifts for each other, people going on dates or hookups, valentine day parties and more. And although the majority of the police department would scoff and say they didnât find the holiday something worth celebrating, they clearly were putting up a tough front as the whole building had been decorated with cheap hearts and baby cupids.Â
You yourself couldnât help but get swept up into the strange mood of wanting to share a romantic evening with someone before Valentine's day itself finally came. You didnât know whether you should try to go to a party and find someone there, or just stick to the usual dating app SoulSeeker and hope for once your luck turned over. It was hard though, especially considering you were an officer, and as of recent years many people turned a stink eye at your career choice and ghosted you upon the information.
Deciding you had enough at mindlessly scrolling through the posts of your friends who were in happy relationships, you finished getting ready for work. You always felt like you were a bit stronger with your police uniform on, able to block out everyday worries easier in uniform rather than out of it. You didnât feel self-conscious about how you looked. You were far from organized, but when it came to work, you felt like you had a place- a purpose. You werenât left alone as you always had your police partner Holly to keep you company during your shifts.Â
But the minute you stepped into the station, you realized this month might be harder to deal with than any other month. Holly was quick to spot you, and rushed over to give you a playful punch to the arm and a big grin.Â
âHowâs it going [Name]! Let me tell you, I cannot wait for the 14th. You know that band Wilma cannot stop fangirling about? Well Iâve bought tickets for us, and I think itâll be the best valentineâs gift Iâve gotten her yet!â
âThatâs great Holly. Iâm happy for you.â You smiled back, though you could already tell that the whole time youâd be patrolling together for the day, sheâd probably talk about nothing but her plans with Wilma.Â
âAny luck with finding that special someone yet?â Holly asked, wiggling her eyebrows as you both began to walk outside to get into your patrol car.Â
âNot yet. Itâs not like just because itâs the month of love, Iâm suddenly going to find someone whoâll actually stick with me.â You pouted, unlocking the car and entering the driver's seat.Â
âYou never know, this might finally be the month it happens and you find your soooulmaaate.â Holly sung while giving you a silly smile.Â
You appreciated her optimism, but you highly doubted youâd get any luck. Just like the last 4 years of searching.Â
. . . . .Â
You both had been focused on nothing in particular, just sitting near an intersection and keeping an eye on if anyone decided to break a road law. Nothing interesting had been going on on the radio either, apart from the typical call in of someone trying to shoplift something minuscule like jewelry, and the nearest officers reporting back that theyâd be on their way.Â
Holly had put on some sickly romantic playlist sheâd found on spotify, which played soft in the background while you both zoned out in your own little worlds. You both agreed that when lunch break rolled around, youâd stop at Fredâs WaffleHouse for their holiday special valentineâs meal. The best fast food restaurant in your opinion, the only place that seemed to actually keep you feeling full for more than 30 minutes.Â
âYou still on for the gym tomorrow morning?â Holly asked, breaking the gushy lyrics that were currently playing.Â
âDuh. When have I ever bailed on our gym day?â You challenged, rolling your eyes with a carefree smile.Â
âJust wanting to double checkâs all.â Holly replied, sticking her tongue out.Â
. . . . .
Just like that, your day was over. The same usual repetitive consistency with little to no change in your schedule. Maybe a pull over on a speeding driver, or a ticket for an incorrectly parked vehicle. But nothing too thrilling apart from that. You couldnât wait for when July, October, and December rolled around, as those were more eventful months where people would get bold and stupid.Â
You had eaten your TV dinner in pace of the 45 minute show you put on to watch while eating, and then made sure to set your alarm bright and early for when youâd meet up with Holly for your workout before having to go in for work. It was nice having a gym buddy, especially considering you always had to keep in shape in order to keep your job and it got rather tricky to keep up with alone.
You heard from Abraham, one of your coworkers, that Jack- the captain- was planning on inviting everyone out for a night of drinking at some point. You hoped he was right and it wasnât just some wishful thought. Abraham tended to do that, saying things that ended up being thoughts and not actual plans from others. But he wasnât always incorrect with his information
