Remus and Sirius slowly falling out of love during the first wizarding war because of the distrust and the stress and finally when Sirius hasn’t called him Moony in months, Remus thinks it’s all over and he lets it because he never thought he deserved his love anyways. James tries to help but he’s so stressed and their baby was just born so he slowly stops. And then one day while the order is at Grimmauld, Sirius comes up to Remus and says softly in his ear “Moony” and Remus does everything not to break down. Later Remus brings Sirius back to his small little cottage and they talk and talk and talk for hours and joke about how they never thought James would be the settling type and Remus thinks maybe he can finally breathe and be happy and love even though everything is shit. And they finally kiss each other again until both of them are senseless and drunk on each other. Sirius leaves with a kiss bitten smile. And then early the next morning someone from the order frantically pounds on Remus’s door and his whole world falls apart.
