These Flowers Smell Like Death

Evan Hansen, since little, has had the ability to revive anything that dies. But at a cost. Anything in that same area, if that thing lives for more than one min, will die in its place. Anything that happens to touch Evan after he revived said dead thing, will die once more and can not be brought back. Lucky for Evan hes got his friend Jared to help him out and the two now work in a flower shop previously owned by Evan's dead mother Heidi. Where this will take him, we shall see.

Does the no touching rule still apply if evan is wearing gloves or otherwise covering his hands?

{No it does not! He can wear gloves and touch another person, its just as long as its not skin to skin contact. In the show Ned and Chuck found ways of going about life in their relationship that kept them from touching. Such as kissing through saran wrap and having a divider with a little glove type thing in the car. If Evan wanted to do these thing with Connor he very much could.}

C: I keep the hives in check and make sure no bees are sick. My bees are basically like family to me and not only do they make good honey but they also keep Evan’s flowers healthy.

I Have you ever found a dead tree that seemed to be old or young and try to revive it?

E: Jared h-he…I uhm…I told him about my ability before my dad sent me away? After our moms died…I sh-showed him using a tree. He said it was cool.

wait, i'm confused about the time limit thing. is it that if the dead thing lives for more than 1 minute something else will die?

{Yes.If Evan brings a person back to life and doesn’t touch them again (basically kill them) before one minute then another person close by will die.Example: In a different version of this au where they’re all still in high school, Evan found Connor dead in a forest n brought him back and ran.Jared followed Evan to this forest and witnessed this and because he didn’t get outta there like he should of and was in the area, Jared died in Connor’s place.The same goes for animals and plants. If Evan brought back a animal (which he has. His doggo Sequoia) then another will die in its place. As does a plant for a plant and so fourth.Its kinda like the “Eye for an eye” type ordeal.}

//thats not what i ment by 'time period' i ment as in what year is this set in? I mean the clothes the gang i wearing in not specifically clothes we would wear in this time and age. From what i can tell ((or more likely guess)). The clothing the boys are wearing are from the 19th century ((which again the clothes are what bartenders from that century would wear)). {Okay so I’m so sorry for taking literally forever to answer this but aaa the year is the 21 century so like current year…ish…maybe a few years ahead seeing as they’re sorta older.The outfits they wear were actually inspired from the show itself! Theres an entire episode in which Ned has the outfit on and I loved it so much I ended up making it a sort of ‘uniform’ for the flower shop. 

The colors ofc were changed up a bit and arranged differently but thats what it look like in show. I 100% still recommend watching pushing daisies.}

Whats the time period in this au and where did you grab inspiration for it?

{Alright so period in time: Everyone is out of school and around their twenties (I don’t have set ages for them yet but if I’m correct, Alana, Evan, Jared and Connor are all around the same age in the musical??)Evan and Jared share an apartment though they are not togetherZoe and Connor share one next door. They all work in the flower shop below the apartment building.Connor has his little bee keeping area on the roof of the building.Very similar to how the pie shop and apartments are set up in Pushing Daises, which is where the inspiration if from!! I think the show aired in 2007? But I can’t be totally sure. I think It was canceled after its second season.The idea of the au was brought up in a DEH discord I’m part of, the owner of the discord {Acorn} having said something about it but nothing really sparking so it was pushed off (like many aus) for awhile. I brought it back up and surprisingly, it is nothing like whats going on with this blog.The original plan for the au was that Connor would be found dead in the forest near the orchard (similar to the blog) being killed by a branch. Evan brought him back and quickly ran off because he didn’t  want Connor to know what he could do and would rather Connor assume he was just hit really hard on the head.Evan later avoids Connor pretty often in school, Connor of course being confused because Evan was his friend last he checked.Evan quickly scurries off to the orchard when Connor tries to confront him, there he trips over Jared’s body.Jared was the person who died in Connor’s place after Connor was brought back, Evan brings Jared back.Evan can’t touch Jared or Connor.Its a mess.I have a couple fics about it on AO3Now the plot of this blog follows a tiny bit more close with the show “Pushing Daisies” itself. But not completely. For example” If anyone was to be considered ‘Chuck’ it would be Jared rather than Connor even though Connor was the one who was brought back to life. Another example is that its a pie shop in pushing daisies and on the blog it is instead a flower shop.Another big example is that the plot might follow a little more to the show but is still very different in many ways like whoaBut yes.Pushing Daisies.I suggest watching it its a quality show with good humor and interesting but lovable characters.}

Other than your mom do you have any really bad experiences with your powers?

E: When I uhm…when I brought my mom back? This was when we were young and my powers were new to me. I only found out about them earlier that day when I brought Sequoia my emotional support dog back.

E: I just…I didn’t know the time limit was a thing. Didn’t know that if it past that limit another person would die in my moms place? And I…I regret it…Jared doesn’t know.Silly how I let things like that eat at me right?

So does Connor know that you brought him back from the dead?

E: Wh-when I brought him back that is. He uhm- he kinda knew? Once he regained his sense. Because he said he remembered the branch falling a-and uh…it killing him and…and so I explained to him.C: Luckily Evan stopped me from grabbing his hand to make sure he was okay after I kicked him because it would of been lights out and no turning them back on afterward. Now I’m a bee keeper, we have this like…bee area on top of the building or whatever. For the flowers…and me…
