Grisha is excellent at throwing. Pisses me off that I NEVER about it….
Paragonism is helpful in unexpected ways. When you are born with this enhanced sixth sense it’s impossible for it to have NO influence in every aspect of your life.
Aside from the obvious, it makes Grisha be extra aware of changes in wind speed, good at estimating distances… and since he’s already Pretty Aware of every bit of his body, he’s also extra aware of the ways the positioning of anything make or break his aim.
He uses this to throw knives mostly but he can do it with anything. He has crazy good aim and it’s one of my favorite things about him and I just. Never bring it up. Goddamn

Grisha and Laura trust and love each other too much to simply be best friends but they also hate on each other enough to not be able to reach queerplatonic relationship status. They have truly unlocked the Secret Third Thing
They call it “being too trauma bonded to Not be a lil codependent” but like. Trauma bond or not they become like those cats that under no circumstance can be adopted separately. They can smack each other on the face and hiss and growl all day long all they want but if they’re forced to work separately for longer than three days they’re sending each other emails like soldiers being separated by war

Part 2 Grisha… thinking thoughts…
He speaks pretty broken italian but curses like bastard. He was specifically instructed to keep a low profile but he still works in shadows, kind of going back to offering the type of exorcist/medium jobs he’d get hired for when he was much younger because god forbid he stays still for even a second. He has a deaf white kitty named Micino that adopted himself and despite Grisha having never really liked animals he would die for this little guy
Ever since the failed ritual, something broke inside of him. It wasn’t just his sanity, or the crack of something inside him shattering to the point of irrepairability. It was something his, a part of his body, an internal organ, a part of his genetic makeup that only he can see and feel. Ever since that night, using his abilities have started to feel like pulling on barbed wire to him and whoever is unlucky enough to be on the receiving end of them.
And of course he hates it at first. Hates it because it proves him wrong for ever thinking things could get better. Hates it because he now has to go back to being extremely careful around Felix in fear of hurting him.
But when he loses Felix, when he loses his best friend, when he loses the family he only recently realized he has… what’s the point? What’s the point in keeping this new power under check? What’s the point in trying to keep it from killing him?
He calls his new method of working for his new job is “being straight-forward.” The reality is that he’s more blunt. Vicious. No bullshit. No reservations. Whatever fear or consideration he may have felt for brushing against people’s memories through the strings is gone now.
If they’re good and cooperative, good. If they’re not, he’ll rip it all out of them with no question.
It’s killing him, shredding him to pieces from the inside out, and yet he has never felt more alive. Like a dog that gets one last bit of energy before being put down.
The barbed wire cuts through his insides with each pull. He knows he’s dying. He hopes it happens faster.
He can identify different types of trout by sight alone now. Also turns out Micino is a girl

Teen Grisha makes me emotional for so many reasons but I also really love reminding myself that at the end of the day he was also just a teenager. He thinks he has been put on Earth for a divine mission and he has molded himself around it to the point of dehumanizing himself but at the same time he’s mopey as hell and gets genuinely mad when someone gives him well-intentioned advice because he thinks his eighteen-year-old self can handle it
Grisha, eighteen going on nineteen, looking at Harrison like he’ll put a hole into his skull with his eyes alone: I need to be a man. I need to prove it to this old man. He can see it. He can see that I’m not at all like him. Well he made me his problem and that’s what I’ll be. He will see that I’m strong and capable. That I’m a man. That I don’t dwell on sentimentalism or corny nonsense. I am an adult. A grown man. A manly man. He’ll see. He’ll fucking see.
Harrison, has been journaling (writing in his little diary) and engaging in horticulture (looking after his deceased wife’s pretty flowers) all day and hasn’t even paid Grisha any mind at all until now: why are you in my office. get out
…there’s something to be said about Grisha pretending to be stronger, bigger and manlier than he is to impress Harrison by acting more like Grisha’s idea of him (which he’d never admit) and about Harrison letting his walls down slightly enough for Grisha to see him keep in touch with his personal and emotional side because setting the example that some degree of vulnerability is good for you is his idea of what a boy like Grisha needs. But I won’t say it. Because it literally just hit me right this instant and I am actively bleeding out on the floor
Grisha’s father was a despicable man. He assumes Harrison has a capacity for it too because it’s all he knows, and he refuses to let himself be helpless ever again. It’s why Harrison feels his authority is always questioned and outright denied, and why he feels Grisha is antagonizing him— because at first he is. He doesn’t realize that he keeps poking the bear because he hopes that it bites him and gives him a reason to leave, even when he has nowhere to go. Because he can’t trust anyone but himself, and even that is a stretch, and any attempt at making him feel otherwise feels like he’s being put in a trap he has to gnaw his leg off to get out of.
Harrison already lost the most important person of his life, and with her went every emotion he ever let himself feel and every dream he ever let himself have. He says it’s just work, and that hiring some foreign kid he found bleeding out in the snow is just a business transaction. He thinks it’s just protecting an asset and doesn’t understand why Grisha feels so smothered and controlled all the time to the point of yet another fight. But he knows. He knows he’s holding on to any bit of awkward sympathy and empathy that he has no idea how to use or work with because it’s the last thing he has of Amara and the only thing he can give Grisha that isn’t even more of the things he hates about himself the most.

There’s always some oc lore that I kind of forget I haven’t mentioned At All in the social media I use the most so I get surprised when people don’t know about it. Like what do you mean you didn’t read my brain and found out about this very specific piece of lore I completely forgot to mention
Before Laura joined the agency, she worked as a cop for a while. During a job, she got shot and almost lost her life, alongside those working the case with her.
The fear this put into her as soon as she woke up in the hospital from her near-death experience changed her like a domino effect.
Being careless or unprepared sets you up to failure. Failure leads to people getting hurt. Failure leads to people dying.
And when that happens, what do you do when you realize that after death there is just… nothing? How do you cope with it? Even as someone who never believed in anything before, how do you carry on with the knowledge that this is all we have and one day it’ll just… end?
This fear makes it ring even more importantly in her mind and in her ears: you can’t fail by any means.
And if that is already a mess, what happens when you find out that, hey, actually, there is an afterlife? What do you do when, afterwards, every single one of your trains of thought stop even focusing on the whole dilemma of finding out you were wrong your whole life, because now all you can think of is ‘why didn’t I get to see it? What’s different about me? What did get wrong? What did I do wrong?’
And worst of all, it’s barely even tuesday!
