THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER that lives in my head → 22/?
"Get close." Sam emanating some serious big dom energy in this scene, and no one can convince me otherwise. LOL The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2012) 1.02. The Star-Spangled Man, dir. Kari Skogland
I love this moment in the bar in Madripoor. That whole scene was brilliant, but this moment was so good. Bucky's eyes when it first cuts to him. That is a man who is definitely not ok. And Sam can clearly tell. As someone with a background in psychology, I will fully and 100% stand behind the "Sam Wilson is not everybody's therapist" argument, because it's absolutely true. But this isn't that; this is being a good friend. This is Sam seeing someone he cares about is hurting, and wanting to check in with him. It's that subtle reminder that these two are closer than we think they are. Sam is trying his best to reach out, to be a friend, and Bucky keeps pushing him away. I think we have all either had that friend or been that friend, so we should all be able to relate. Also, let's just take a moment to appreciate Sebastian's acting here. That haunted look in his eyes that lasts for just a matter of seconds before the hard mask of indifference goes back up. </3

Sam and Bucky checking in on each other in Episode 3: Power Broker
One thing I really admire about Bucky Barnes is that he came back from seven decades of being either frozen or a brainwashed serial killer and followed that up with years on the run and five years dead and six months in therapy and said you know what?
I might not be able to sleep through the night without torturing myself and I might be floundering around, trying to feel ready to let myself love again but my God, I'm going to buy myself seventeen different coats.
I'm going to have a jacket just for doing dangerous things and another jacket for hanging out and another jacket for going around New York and all of them are different from my Endgame jacket and none of them are my formal winter coat, reserved for deciding not kill my torturer in locations that are experiencing sub-freezing weather.
I might not sleep in a bed or be totally ready to be with Sam but I absolutely have got online shopping down. I might be kind of a mess but I'm going to look damn good being this mess.
what do you mean this is not what happened? (insp.)

I don't see enough people talk about the implication of these scenes. It's easy to get caught up in the cuteness of the first scene, or the beauty of the second one. But Bucky references the boat and Sam references Bucky's nightmares in a way that indicates they have prior knowledge. And neither one seems surprised that the other knows about these intimate parts of themselves. So, that means that at some point in the past, Sam has told Bucky about his family's boat. Maybe mentioned something about his sister wanting to sell it? Or that it needs fixing? A moment we missed out on in the time span between episode 2 and episode 5. It also means that Sam knows about Bucky's nightmares. Now, whether Bucky voluntarily told him, or these two were trying to get some sleep in the same place (Zemo's plane on the way from Germany to Madripoor, or Madripoor to Riga, perhaps?) and Sam witnessed it firsthand, it's hard to tell. I love the idea of these two having this knowledge about the other, and I wanted to highlight it because I haven't seen anyone talking about it.

Do you ever just re-watch CATWS for Sam's introduction? 'Cause I do.

Whenever we needed a reminder that Steve and Bucky were, in fact, once two dumb kids, we got these little nuggets. I only wish there had been more. Also, am I the only one who thought in that scene from CACW, Steve was trying to lift Bucky's spirits before going somewhere that might traumatize him, as well as test his memory a little?
