Yay, a new BNHA and Steven Universe liveblogger! You'll be killing a lot of my time I could use more productively, so thanks for that you jerk.

Liveblogging was too stressful to keep up, it wasn’t a very successful run. I am active on my main @queenbovine, but I’m not doing any projects like this.
Soooo..... confession time.
I can’t keep this blog active.
I’ve put off this announcement because I’ve been in denial, but I’ve finally admitted to myself that it’s not a good fit for me right now. It sucks, because I really want to be able to liveblog on a regular basis, I really enjoy talking about the shows and characters, and I want to be more integrated into fandoms, but it’s just not plausible for me.
I didn’t even make it through one whole Steven Universe Future episode before my anxiety spiked so badly I couldn’t go back to it for weeks. I don’t have the mental energy to make and keep a good schedule, and when I put it off, I just feel guilty and stressed all the time. It became a burden almost immediately, and I need to relieve myself of it.
I’m not deleting anything, and I’ll respond to any questions/comments, and I’m still active on my main, @queenbovine. Maybe I can use this blog for streaming or something in the future.

Quartzes seem like body guards and rank and file soldiers, they don't even seem to get to be generals, Agats do that. I don't think she had any more power than say, peridot, unless deployed on a military mission.
I don’t necessarily mean that Jasper had lots of authority, but more that she built her sense of self on being the ‘perfect Quartz’ as viewed by the Gempire. Her conflict with Amethyst in season 3 revolved around Jasper truly believing that she was better than Amethyst because she was made ‘right’ compared to other ‘flawed’ Gems.
Someone who supports an oppressive system doesn’t have to be at the top to feel empowered, they just have to enjoy being above someone else.

Amethyst knows what’s up
Okay, let’s dig into this a little more, because that slight hesitancy when mentioning his mom spoke VOLUMES.
Steven may be at peace with his sense of self, but he really hasn’t figured out a healthy way to relate to what his personal responsibility should be over his mother’s mistakes. He’s not Rose/Pink, but he spent so long thinking he might be, and would have to fix what she left behind, that he doesn’t know how to distance himself from that guilt.
He came close when dealing with Spinel, partly because she treated him as a separate person, and partly because there were so many other pressing things to focus on at the time that he didn’t have to dwell on it. Now, though, life is calmer and more routine than it’s ever been, and he’s not used to it. He’s used to dealing with crises, so that’s what he’s looking for.
Always digging into other people’s issues is a good way of ignoring your own, that’s for sure, but at some point you have to let them take responsibility for themselves.
Buddy, you can’t solve everything. Jasper was a victim of war, sure, but she was also empowered enough by the system that she’s probably sad to see it go. And you can’t deny yourself happiness just because someone else is refusing it.
Not everyone? I’m going to make a wild guess and say he’s talking about Jasper. The intro shows her in an antagonistic role, after all, and he probably has residual guilt about her corruption.
Oh! If I’m right about the pink quartz earlier having Jasper’s voice actor, then maybe we’ll see Jasper in this episode! It’d make sense to just add a few lines rather than bring in someone new.
