Question: I've been reading spoilers and I don't really understand, is Nox the Lord of the North in Terrasen, or is called that way to hide his true identity? Because, you know, Terrasen is already in the North part of Erilea, so calling himself that wouldn't be like claiming that part or something? Or is a Lord from EVEN NORTHENER than Terrasen? (Also game of thrones much?) Sjm just gives titles to everyone without actually giving an explanation for the titles other than sounding cool

Ummm? I haven’t gotten very far in K0A, tbh. I was determined to read it, just to put the T0G series behind me, but it’s such an unenjoyable reading experience that I don’t know if I’m gonna be able to do it. So unfortunately I can’t answer your question. Maybe @itsspookyolive or @longsightmyth can answer depending on how far they are in the book? If anyone knows the answer, could you please comment or reblog for Anon? And definitely, Mess just throws around titles without considering their meaning. She clearly just does it to be epic without bothering to do the worldbuilding work that would actually make it epic.

Nox Owen isn’t lord of anything. As per the original Throne of Glass, he is a thief from Perranth. At least he is mercifully spared a secret nobility reveal.

The Lord of the North refers to A) a stag-shaped constellation associated with Terrasen and the Terrasen royal family (the Galanthynius line) and B) an actual magical stag that Aelin rides into battle in the final climax.

I think the one about allegiance between maeve n dorian - it was only scheming on dorian's part and was never really mentioned/considered again so

Christ then why did sj/m include it in the first place?? it’s right up there with her mention of a potential marriage between Aedion and alien. it’s like she puts that in with the intention to tie it into the plot, but then (bc she couldn’t outline to save her life) the story moves on and it just remains in there bc she doesn’t edit. she probably doesn’t even remember what she includes for no reason. 🤦🏻‍♀️

 Dorian breaks into Morath using his shapeshifting magic so he can steal the last wrydkey (then in Erawan’s possession). While he is in Morath, Maeve visits. She offer Erawan an alliance by offering to give some of her spider handmaids to him to be vessels for the valg princesses. We are reminded that the princesses and queens are way more dangerous than the princes because feminism, I guess.

He eavesdrops on their conversation while in some disguised form. Maeve notices his presence but doesn’t tip Erawan off. Maeve approaches Dorian with a deal. Her special trans dimensional space hopping magic doesn’t work in Morath because Erawan has taken precautions against her. She will help Dorian find and get the key, then they can defeat Erawan. She suggests a marriage to Dorian/any alliance since (apparently) the fae (or maybe just the cadre and the Whitethorns - I went through Dorian’s chapters without thinking too hard for my own sanity) have mutinied against her.

Dorian shapeshifts into Erawan and finds the new girl Erawan has found to be replacement Kaltain (unnecessary references to more sexual abuse included) and orders her to stay still so he can hack the wrydkey out of her arm. She regains control of her mind long enough to beg for a mercy kill. Dorian thinks that Aelin would do it and that Chaol would refuse and find some way to rescue her and bring her on his escape. Dorian angsts about what kind of person he is and what he should do for moment before Maeve spares him the trouble and kills the girl herself as an ‘early wedding gift’.

In the end, Dorian betrays Maeve, escapes with the wrydkey and leaves her in a situation where she has to explain how she absolutely wasn’t betraying Erawan. (Spoiler: He believes her up until the final battle where Aelin brings up how Maeve kept a bunch of fae healer in Doranelle ready to be used to fight Erawan and the valg if they ever came up.)

Lord Lor/can Lo/chan is a thing, no one needs to panic. Elide walks down the aisle without any magic to brace her foot because she wants to make it down there on her own two feet

Evan/geline becomes Darrow’s heir and ward

Lys/andra becomes her uncle’s heir and now has a bunch of money in addition to being lady of a territory

Ly/sandra and Aedio/n get married. At least it’s implied he’s taking her title and being a real Lord by virtue of her ladyship

Elide and Yrene are friends and respect each other

Yr/ene and Dori/an defeat Era/wan. It’s E/lide’s idea for Yre/ne to fight Erawan.

Do/ian’s dad’s name is also Dori/an

Ch/aol gets to reunite with his mother and little brother. They both hate his dad too.

To be fair, if I recall correctly the wyverns and the ruks just kind of have a thing for each other without explicit use of the word ‘mate’

But I still hate it. (It comes with the usual: oh, don’t you know they’re together? I can tell they like each other blah blah exposition)

Why have you lost respect for elide ?

Honestly a lot of characters just get saddled with a giant idiot ball for most of the book. In the beginning half to two thirds of KoA I really just found 3lide to be insufferable after the stranglehold of her romance with L0rcan got pushed to the forefront of her inner dialogue. 

Then during the climax and biggest conflict in the book she starts thinking about actually saving the world, and became palatable. Then it went back to the 3lorcan hardcore ship and I just couldn’t.

Honestly I found them decently entertaining and engaging whenever they weren’t thinking of each other.
