When and where will the event be hosted?
This is a week–long event that will run from September 19th to September 25th. Late entries are accepted. Early entries are not and are discouraged.
The event is hosted on Tumblr and AO3. We will do our best to share works from bsky / twt, if anyone posts there and tags the event.
How can I participate in the event?
By making any kind of fanwork, focused on Quan Yizhen and following the theme / the prompts provided for each day.
The prompt list contains a theme for each day + four different prompts. There’s also a bunch of alternative prompts that you can use if none of the daily ones works for you. You can choose to use only the theme, only the prompts, or mix and match. Feel free to give any interpretation to the prompts!
Do I have to make a work for each day?
It’s encouraged but not a requirement. Feel free to participate each day, some of them, or just one. Encouraging and celebrating works by others is also a welcome (and extremely valued) form of participation in the event, as the works are a gift for our corner of this fandom at large!
Do I have to use all the prompts?
Not necessarily! Using the prompts is not a requirement. You can use only the theme of the day, choose one or more of the given prompts for the day, choose one or more of the given alternative prompts, mix and match between those options...
Or choose to not use any prompts at all! Since there is no "free day" in the event, you could also choose to do that, as long as you create a work that's centered on Quan Yizhen and follows the event rules.
How do I submit my works?
You can start working whenever you want, but please, wait for the specific day before you submit your work. This will make the modteam’s job easier and ensure that we can reblog your work on the right time!
Please add your works to the following AO3 collection: QYZ_Appreciation_Week_2026
This collection will open the day the event starts, and will remain open until the end of the year. It will never be hidden, made anonymous, or deleted.
Multi–chapter fics are allowed; individual works of any length are allowed.
For us to be able to reblog your posts, please use the tags #QYZ appreciation 2026 or #QYZ appreciation week 2026 which we will monitor actively.
We recommend that you mention us directly @quanyizhenappreciationweek somewhere in the body of your post, to make sure we actually see it! If we haven’t reblogged after 2 days, feel free to send us an ask or a DM to let us know.
Remember to properly tag and add any necessary warnings. We encourage the use of a read more if it’s a long post.
Don’t forget to add a link to AO3 / any other platforms, if applicable!
If you post on any of those platforms and want us to share your works, mention our official accounts @ quanyizhenweek and use the official tags we will be monitoring (#QYZappreciation2026 or #QYZappreciationweek2026) Remember to include any ratings/warnings as needed.
What about other platforms?
We don’t have any other official accounts where we can monitor the tags, but feel free to send us a link if you want us to share your work on the official tumblr for the event!
What about late submissions?
Late submissions are welcomed, and we will do our best to reblog them. Please mention us in the body of the post to make sure we see it, and let us know via ask/DMs if we missed it.
The AO3 collection will remain open until the end of the year.
Any other considerations I should keep in mind?
If you make visual works, we encourage you to include an image description to make it more accessible.
Please be kind to the mod team and to any participants of the event.
And above all: have a lot of fun!
Will you host the event next year?
We hope so, if there’s enough interest and this first version of the event goes well :)
I have a different question that was not answered here/was not answered in the rules post either.
Feel free to ask in the replies of this post, or send us a DM or an ask on the official account, with any additional questions or suggestions.
