secondist you cant just be sittin here like “antiblackness in kpop is not the issue here” when it is. alexandra being a prop for a kpop group is not okay. black people have good reason to be skeeved (at the company to be clear) by alexandra’s sudden appearance (and lack of screen time) in a kpop group. like there’s a reason why they picked a girl that looked and sounded like her… her look is very “IN” right now ie jhene aiko tinashe zendaya etc. matter of fact it’s always been in but it’s very in rn. you know what im saying, just follow along if you can. there is an issue with the fact that there are mixed race black-korean girls in korea who could have easily been offered her spot. but the way that kpop tends to appropriate is very formulaic lmao. nothing is ever out of the ordinary or surprising, it’s all stuff that’s been done before even if the industry is 4 years behind the wave. alex’s look and sound is v popular right now, she’s a great candidate for a group who’s mission was to be a global group. but like i said, there are plenty of mixed race black folks in korea who could have done the job. that’s a real issue to be discussed
