STELLA ASTERION || QUEEN OF MARYA || 37 || NATALIE PORTMAN || TAKEN ||
Ambition – it was probably the most defining, and definite, thing in her life. From the moment she was born, her parents disliked her for not being a boy and an heir, but as she grew into a beautiful lady, they started to see the benefits of having a daughter – and one of such benefits was throwing her in the direction of the Crown Prince of Marya. They schemed, and they plotted, but as their daughter grew out of her childhood, she began to plot alongside them and it made them proud in a way that not even a son could – after all, she might be the one who brings the family close to the throne, close to their eternal desire. Well educated in diplomacy and politics, and with a natural shrewdness and intelligence, Stella was destined to thrive. Yet, it wasn’t enough for her; she desired power and, when she finally managed to persuade the King and Queen of Wind to choose her as their son’s bride, she was thrilled. Her dreams were so close to being reached that she could almost taste them, but she had to endure being in the shadows of the ruling pair, for who knows how many years, and she’s decided to take the matters into her own hands.
Her parents told her about the princess, how they planned to dispose of the Second heir to the throne the minute she was born, when Stella was eleven years old, and how they were late, for the child was already gone. Good riddance, she thought to herself as she ordered for the Monarchs of the Wind to be… taken care of, and the following day with tears of sorrow that would fool even the Gods themselves, she accepted the crown. She watched her husband’s general apathy for the crown shift into something more tolerable, but his greed never matched hers. No, he didn’t want every other Kingdom to fall beneath his feet, but she did. She wanted all of the Kingdoms, to be the Queen of the Elements and unite them all under one Crown – her crown. And she started by allowing little accidents to happen to the ruling monarchs of Water, Fire and Earth, completely ignorant of the existence of Quintessence – mainly because she deemed an island unworthy of her attention. When she gave birth to a daughter she was livid with anger that it was not a son, but she calmed far too soon, deciding that a woman upon the throne was far better than a man – less fickle and with bigger appetites; better and more suitable.
But, while she allows her husband to entertain himself with his mistresses, she allows herself the same thing – she used to be better at concealing her lovers, but now she cares little of the whispers in the court. She is wild, and so is her appetite, and she continues to plot, and works to further her own destiny. Stella remains ignorant to the dangers of the Shadows, thinking them to be on her side, to conceal both her infidelity and her relentless scheming, but there are whispers of rebellion, that her King is yet unaware of; the rebellion that mention his sister – and she is livid once more; livid and vengeful, twisting and turning every nook and cranny, searching for the girl who might make the crown fall from her head; her head included in the fall. She searches for a way to keep herself protected, and keep herself in position of power, and if she has to sacrifice her husband for it ( or the Kingdom itself ) she has very little doubt she will do it, without even a smidgen of regret – or regard.
Ethan Asterion – He King, her most beloved. He is easily manipulated, and she loves him for it. She can control him, and making him dance to her subtle tunes is rather entertaining. She does love him, though – for putting a crown on her head.
Alina Wynd – There’s something irksome, and dangerous, about the girl, and she simply can’t stand to see her. She doesn’t know who she truly is, because if she did, Alina would no longer have a breath left in her body. Out of everyone in court, she trusts her lady in waiting the least.
Phoebe Eyre – Her King’s mistress is such a plotting cow – she despises her more than she ever hated anyone in her entire life; if she so much as suspects the girl plotting against her, she will find a way to be rid of her.
Layla Verlos – Her closest friend, her companion, and her assassin. Had it not been for the lady, she would still be a princes, and not the Queen – she helped her through many obstacles and she trusts her more than anyone else in the court.
Elinor & Geoffrey Drago – The advisers to her husband are perhaps the two people she trusts to do her Kingdom justice – granted, she doesn’t like them, nor she trusts them privately, but when it comes to the affairs of the state, they are tolerable enough.
Eryn & Arysin Clare – The pretty girl, and the pretty girl’s half sister are the two ladies she can stand only a smidgen more than her beloved husband’s current mistress. Eryn is far too innocent, which makes her incredibly foolish and unintelligent in her opinion, and the other looks like a scheming rat. She’d like to be rid of them, but she’s aware that she can’t dispose of everyone she dislikes – yet.
Desmond Clayton – He is determined to refuse her advances, and she is incredibly annoyed by it. Everyone can be bought, and she wonders what would it take for him to give in to her desires. The general is attractive, and what makes him more desirable is that he seems immune to her charms – so far.
Therydor & Morgan Vyrg – Out of all the foreign monarchs, she dislikes them the most. She wants to take Noctifera for herself, and is plotting how to best dispose of their Queen. She quite likes the King, and wouldn’t mind switching Ethan for him.
