Laurel felt Thea hesitating, and it killed her a little more inside. She dropped the pillow back on the bed and wordlessly slipped under the covers. She was nowhere near tired now, hyper-aware of Thea laying next to her as she was. After a few silent minutes, she spoke but kept her eyes on the ceiling. “Do you want me to go back to Gotham?” She asked, finding her voice heavy. “I understand if it’s too hard. I can’t stand you looking at me like I’m a snake about to strike. It’s too hard.”
Thea lay under the covers, her hands on her stomach, mechanical on top of flesh. There might as well have been a canyon between them, there was so much space. She sucked in a deep breath and let it out slowly, shakily. Her eyes stayed trained on the ceiling. This entire situation was too difficult. She didn’t trust Laurel, but the idea of her leaving again made her angry and depressed. “I don’t want you to leave.”
