So...my first post that is NOT about TDSP...and it's a pretty sad one.

FOR THE DISTANT SHORES PROJECT FANS

Hi. I'm QueenSheWolf, The Captain of the Distant Shores Project sequel. I'm still getting new followers here, even though the TDSP crew and I are BEYOND done with both the project and PB.

The game is here to download and our TDSP YouTube page is still up for viewing whenever things are posted.

After speaking with my First Mate @jdstar88, I have decided to make some major changes to this page. I have noticed that you, me, and my TDSP crew have moved on from the game which now is in a tiny corner of the internet for those who are passionate to find it.

Since I can't make a separate Tumblr for TDSP, this will now become my personal one (hence the name and look change). I will post about stuff on my YouTube page, or anything else. More time of building its brand is on my "things to do after grad school" list.

After seeing what happened to the @itlivesproject, both with the wonderful amount of love they have received and the immorality that PB has put upon them, I do not want to draw PB's attention to our sequel. To the @itlivesproject, we are glad that you set the bar EXTREMELY high! You have made a lasting impact on the PB community and TDSP will ALWAYS be in your corner!

To our fans, like @ladylamrian, @ntennis-world and anyone else I have missed, I'm really thankful for your love and understanding that we really needed to get this done with the limited amount time. If there are any bugs with the game, let me know.

To those who did not enjoy our game, I apologize for not living up to your expectations. I truly did try my best with the hand I was given and what I thought was right at the time.

To my TDSP crew @shionch, @oh-so-youre-a-nerd, @queen-of-boops, @enanomly , @itsmefromthatday and any one else I have missed, I am really proud and thankful of all of you. You did everything you could with the work you did.

And most importantly, to @jdstar88. You are more than my First Mate. You have been the best friend that I could have asked for, and as hateful as I am toward PB, I do thank it for helping me find you. We bonded over a tiny DS Facebook group, and yada, yada, yada, here we are today.

I love you all, and you're more than welcome to still follow me and talk to me about TDSP, even though I will rarely post about it.

CHOICES PRESERVATION

It's no surprise that Choices is collapsing. The Captain just joined the Choices Preservation Discord to keep the memories of the app we used to love alive.

If you want to do any recordings, The Captain suggests doing routes that are not well represented, like MLW routes, LIs people don't usually play, or MCs with they/them pronouns.

Remember that EVERYTHING needs to be preserved, even the ones that are not well known.

Hello, everyone!

Like many of you, I woke up to the AI slop It Lives Within "TV show" on the Choices app. Having spent thousands (no joke) of loving hours on the fan-made It Lives Within, I admit it felt like a bit of a kick to the gut, especially since I'd stayed up until 2 AM the night before, meticulously working on improving the programming of textbox animations for the updated version of the game.

But at the end of the day, the people are what own stories. It doesn't matter what PB puts out, especially when it so blatantly disrespects a series we all hold close to our hearts. We can choose what to support, what to value, and what to be our true version of these stories.

As such, I wanted to provide an update for "It Lives Within: The Obsidian Cut." We are working extremely hard to finish rewrites, and I apologize it's taking so long - but real work takes time. We take so long because we don't use AI to do our work for us. Our testers have found hundreds of bugs, which have been corrected. I'm currently working on some rewrites for chapters 21-22, and once that's finished, I'm going to play from start to finish with different MCs to include more complete personality variants for your MC.

While our game was highly beloved (which I am still so wholly grateful for three years after the final episode aired), I know some of you tried the original version and decided it wasn't for you. Others maybe never heard of it. But, with the news of AI It Lives Within dropping today, I just wanted to invite everyone to give our fan version a chance. If you tried it before and gave up, or haven't played it yet, I recommend waiting until Obsidian airs to experience that version for the first time. And if you did play the original, stick around! You'll love Obsidian when it airs. All of our testers are highly enjoying it and say that it improves on the story with every change, while still be the story they knew and love.

AI It Lives Within is frustrating and offensive, but ultimately, we never needed their blessing, and neither do you. Our story started small, with a team that never made any money. Everything was done out of passion and love for this series and these characters, and we were and still are, devoted to creating truly player-drive stories where your choices matter. A LOT. That passion is something that can never be generated in any machine. Stories from the heart speak to the heart, "canon" or not, and what really matters is how theses stories impact and inspire us.

We have just heard this news, and are very heartbroken and enraged for the @itlivesproject. We know that they have worked very hard on their sequel WITHOUT using any help from AI.

PB is now stealing ideas from fans who made them for free because they know those fans have no legal right to it.

They truly are going downhill faster than ever, and we are glad that we stopped playing Choices long ago.

On another note, good luck to @itlivesproject with Obsidian!

WUTHERING HEIGHTS KNOCKOFF?!

The Captain wants to interrupt her studies and much beloved introverted life from this page to rip on PB. She has deleted Choices a while back and does not miss it.

As a library science grad student AND classical literature fan, she is finding this very concerning. There is no way that PB will disrespect a classic with the way the direction the company is going.

*NOTE: SPOILER WARNING FOR WUTHERING HEIGHTS*

Wuthering Heights is about Catherine and Heathcliff who formed an intense bond when they were little...until Catherine marries another man, Edgar. This causes Heathcliff to get revenge on Edgar and everyone connected to him. He is BEYOND an absolute fucking DICK. And Catherine is not that likable either. Just an absolute spoiled fucking BITCH. She knew she always wanted to marry Heathcliff. It's just that Edgar had more money than him and she cared about her social status.

THIS IS NOT A ROMANCE STORY.

It's about 2 horrible people that are just obsessed with each other that never even kissed, and Catherine is dead in the second half of the book. YOU DON'T ROOT FOR THIS COUPLE. You root for the people they hurt. They simply belong together because they're just unlikeable, and you want to keep hearing their story because the dysfunction that both of them cause is dark entertainment.

Wuthering Heights is a classic because it enthralls you with a lesson on what happens when a relationship built on obsession goes downhill. It's like Emily Bronte has perfected the craft of a 19th century adaptation of a Jerry Springer episode.

TDSP WEEKEND UPDATE

ONE YEAR LATER...

It's been a year since the finale of our DS sequel, and we thought of updating you on what has been going on since then.

The First Mate has been working hard at her two jobs, and taking care of 6 adorable fur and scaly babies with her husband. Her husband got full time at his job, and the two of them are going on adventures and living life.

As for The Captain, she is making a career change and got accepted into grad school, all while helping her adorable guinea pig babies transfer into their later years. She also started a YouTube channel where she plays classical literature characters in The Sims 4, and plans to do the same for Paralives. Yes, she is very aware and upset about the EA buyout, and has spoken about it many times on her channel.

Speaking of shitty decisions companies make, The Captain has followed in The First Mate's footsteps and is transitioning into playing Romance Club because she is pissed off of PB's use of AI. The First Mate got the idea of trying out Astrea's Broken Heart, thanks to The Captain gushing about it, as well as Raph. The First Mate is doing Dave's route and made another slot for Mike.

Both of them are interested in the new company that ex-PB employees (including a DS writer) started, but haven't been thinking about it much due to work and grad school. Still, they will be playing when they have free time.

Their Discord is still open for anyone that wants to discuss DS, PB, RC, or anything about life. Members are encouraged to start discussions and set up voice channel meetings.

We do hope that you enjoyed our sequel. It was really hard to make, but it was worth it to give people some sort or serenity, because we needed it as well.

Hello everyone! I (@zhoumeyourlove) haven't updated the blog in a bit since I've been very busy the past month, but also because the basic 'framework' of the game is in a good place (which we're very happy about of course!). As a result, my work is currently focused on sprite assets rather than Ren'Py, and I don't want to spoil anything (at least, not too far in advance ;D)!

Buttttt I figured some people might be interested the stylized menu screens and autoplay button, even if they're not as 'major' as the other updates!

Thankfully things are settling down more in my life, so my progress will hopefully pick up again ^-^

Hello everyone, welcome to the blog of The Cursed Heart Project! We are creating a fan-made book 3 of The Cursed Heart series.

Who are we?

Currently, we are a team of two people:

If you’re interested in joining the team, please DM this blog to let us know! We would really appreciate having more people to help!

It would be great to have someone with experience in Ren’Py, but that’s not a necessity at all - we're figuring it out as we go as well!

What is the project about?

The ending of Book 2 doesn’t lend itself well to a sequel, so the project starts at the point where MC is cursed and continues from there. Kieran and MC will have to search for a cure to the Immortality Curse...before it's too late, and MC is heartless forever.

Will there be a wedding?

There will be the option to have Kieran and MC get married, as well as the option to have a child (biological or adopted)!

However, this is not a wedding book (like quite a few Book 3s have been), because not all players will want these things…and of course, MC has to get their heart back for the wedding to happen at all.

When can we expect the game?

We don’t have an estimate as to when the project will be completed. This is a massive undertaking and neither of us have worked on a visual novel before, so we can’t promise anything in terms of timeline.

If you want to see this done sooner, consider helping us complete it ;D

The Captain & The First Mate are in the talks of making their own visual novel app. They got the answers from what the pros use, now they just got to get the money and some sort of business skills to do it. Anyway, if you want to ask about that insane idea or how you can help, join our Discord.

TDSP was a lot of work. It entertained us as much as it pressured us. All in all (is all we are), we are all proud of what we have done. The Captain & The First Mate want to thank everyone that has done their part with the sequel, whether it be big or small. None of this would be possible with such a great crew.

And of course, the biggest thank you we must give is to all of you. Without you spreading the word about TDSP, all of our hard work would have been unknown to the people who needed some sort of answers as to what happens to our favorite pirate crew.
