what do you MEAN an unwilling hero who never wanted ANY of this in the first place was thrown into the middle of a war at the age of twelve and then stepped up to claim a prophecy to protect a younger child from having to do it . what do you MEAN the antagonist explicitly stated he turned away from the gods after a failed quest his dad sent him on made him bitter because “where’s the glory in repeating what other people have done?” what the HELL do you MEAN luke and percy two INCREDIBLY SIMILAR people spend all four books hating each other’s guts and mutually taunting each other while the whole time annabeth INSISTS luke has merely been led astray. are you telling me the entire series is about choosing to reject the deadly pride of heroes???? not trying to FIGHT FATE and SEEK GLORY which has always gotten heroes killed but just trying to DO THE RIGHT THING? and you’re telling me sally jackson who said ‘if my life is going to mean anything i have to live it myself’ and rejected poseidon’s offer to make her immortal named the hero of this story PERSEUS in hopes that he would have a happy ending and she raised him with these values. what the FUCK DO YOU MEAN last olympian completely subverts the idea of the chosen one by making the prophecy culminate in doing nothing what the FUCK do you mean hestia said “not all powers are spectacular the hardest one to master is the power of yielding” and “You are a good hero, Percy Jackson. Not too proud. I like that. But you have much to learn” and what percy has to LEARN is SYMPATHY FOR LUKE, showing how this entire cycle began because the gods expect their children to be heroes and use them as bargaining chips or errand boys or for bragging rights without showing a SHRED of affection or appreciation and it culminated in REJECTING THE ULTIMATE GOAL OF TRADITIONAL GREEK HEROISM: IMMORTALITY AND GODHOOD ? no wonder we’re all still here wtf

look i know that the scene of will getting the mind flyer out in s2 is heartbreaking bc he's just a kid in a lot of pain but...i just...

he can't handle seeing his brother a boy he practically helped raise in so much pain

then eventually he can't take it anymore and his mom is ignoring his fear and he tries to make it stop

plus the fear on his face when he sees the smoke coming from will he's obviously terrified

ik it's not about him but i feel bad for him anyway because he's again scared of losing his brother with a mom pushing him away (even if she's right).

plus the first thing he does is unplug everything and go to wills side scared will isnt going to wake up

then the relief on his face when he does

then will leaning on his brother bc he's fcking exhausted and jonthan just holding him protectively

every time i watch this scene my heart obviously breaks for will but jonathan just shatters it bc watching one of the people he cares about most in so much pain is so hard for him. i don't want to imagine what s5 will be like

GUYS. I HAVE A THEORY ABOUT WHY MIKE NEVER ACKNOWLEDGED WILLS BIRTHDAY.

okay so basically this kind of also depends on the assumption that mike has a letter, or more specifically, a birthday card, in that pocket of his that’s shaped like an envelope.

imagine this: he’s planning to give will the card, but before he can do it, he gets into his fight with el. she points out the fact that he can’t say “i love you” to her, and pulls out all his letters as evidence, all signed, from, mike.

now let’s say that hypothetically, he’s signed will’s birthday card LOVE, mike. that’s when he realizes the reason why he can’t say i love you to el yet signing the card love, mike feels natural to him — it’s because WILL is the one he has feelings for. hence not giving will his birthday card. mike is probably too scared to give him the card now because he thinks it would incriminate him and reveal his true feelings. and now that he can’t risk giving will the card, why acknowledge his best friend’s birthday at all?
