Queer fam, I’m at a loss for words. After a week of increased hate crimes and state sanctioned violence directed at people of color, immigrants, and the trans community, another mass shooting strikes - this time targeting a synagogue in Pittsburgh. When you hurt one of us, you hurt us all. Where is the space to grieve? My heart goes out to all who are Jewish, to the victims, their families and communities, to those who’ve been touched by gun violence, and to everyone who’s ever been ostracized for who they are. We need to be tender with one another and ourselves right now. Love is stronger than hate, so we must continue to love and find space to grieve. Let’s not see this as a sign of defeat. I know a better world is possible for all of us. Together we can overcome the hate that drives white supremacist violence. We can’t let bullies make us feel powerless, as we hold a lot of power with our voices and votes.
