Third Person POV
Another day, another pile of assignments and another day of Julia being stuck in her room, all the assignments from her school and work were starting to become overwhelming. Not to mention that with all the work she’s been given, the only time she left her apartment was to go to classes and get groceries, which was depressing. (same)
However, with living in Arcadia all her life, she felt like she was living in a constant loop, having felt like things are too boring, but, knowing for her sake, she should go on a walk, more specifically, to treat herself at her favorite place, Mr. Benoit.
First Person POV (Y/n's)
After I finally finished up my last assignment for the week, I quickly submitted it and closed my laptop, the light from the screen straining my eyes as I looked at the digital clock on my nightstand. On it, it reads 7:27 pm, so much for an afternoon walk, but I am feeling hungry and don’t feel like cooking.
I changed into a clean hoodie and pants, grabbing my wallet, phone, keys and headphones, before exiting my apartment and closing the door. Usually I would take a short path, but given that I haven’t left my apartment for a few days, I decided on taking the longer path, putting my headphones on and playing a random song on my playlist.
After about a few minutes of walking, the lights of Mr Benoit came into sight, and I took my headphones off, resting it on my neck as I entered the building and headed to one of the couches, grabbing a menu from the coffee table as I laid against the back of the couch.
I looked at the menu for a moment before a voice took me out of my thoughts, but it wasn’t the voice of any of the usual workers.
Third Person POV
“Are you ready to order?” Y/n looked up and was caught off guard by the new face, and well, that he was cute too. After a few seconds, she nodded, not wanting to make things awkward.
“Y-yeah.” She cursed herself at the stutter, “I’d like a (Favorite food) and a (Favorite drink) please.” He nodded and wrote down the order, taking the menu as she handed it to him, and he headed to the kitchen.
After he left her line of sight, she put her headphones back on, put her hoodie up and pulled the strings, groaning as she laid on her side, grateful it was pretty empty inside the building.
A few minutes went by and she was watching a random gameplay on her phone, having her hood off and sitting more comfortably on the couch. Her stomach continuously rumbling as she hadn't eaten much during the day, stressing over the deadlines of work and scrambling to finish them.
"Seems like you really needed this." An accented voice said beside her, with a slight chuckle as a tray was placed on the coffee table in front of her, her face heated up in embarrassment. "I can't even deny that." She mumbled, grabbing the tray and putting it on her lap, hitting play on the video on her phone.
Before Douxie could turn to continue working, the video playing on Y/n's phone got his attention, "Is that (favorite game)?" His hand was on the top of the couch as he watched some of the game on her phone.
"Uh yeah, it's the latest installment." Y/n shifted a bit in her seat, giving room on the couch, tilting her screen so he could see the video better. Douxie sat next to her as he kept watching the screen, she decided to disconnect her headphones so he didn't have to read the subtitles, making the awkward tension in her melt as they got comfortable.
They spent a good chunk of time watching the gameplay, both of them adding their comments on the story, the gameplay, and Douxie even hummed a bit of the soundtrack, getting a small laugh out of Y/n as he did different air instruments based on what he heard.
"Aren't you gonna get in trouble?" She asked him as she searched up videos related to (favorite game), and he shrugged, "Maybe, but today's slow and my shift is about to end soon, plus, I got some new plans now." He replied in a slight flirtatious manner, earning a soft chuckle from her.
"No one you know likes (favorite game)?" She clicked on a new video, but turned her gaze onto him, "Oh, they know it, just, not that interested, not their style, but, it's nice that someone else likes it." He turned to look at the screen. "Not even online?" That got a little chuckle from him, "Too busy too, and besides, with 2 jobs and classes, I don't want it to feel like a chore."
That earned a small nod from her, "That's fair, and, two jobs?" He chuckled, "Yep, here, and the bookstore nearby. What about you? Do you work anywhere here?" She looked back at her phone, "Online, (job), it pays well, and I don't have to leave my place, not to mention it's pretty fun to do when I'm in the right mood." She explained as he let out a small hum, the sound of the video feeling like background noise.
"That's pretty neat." He gave her a little smile, "Must be nice to do it at your own speed, and to not leave your place. Here, you got the occasional jerk who doesn't tip cause you weren't fast enough, you didn't get the order right but they changed their mind and didn't tell you, OH, and there's always the customer who says they don't like what they ordered and ask for a refund, even though they ate all of it." Douxie ranted, exaggerating his arms while explaining it to her, but he explained it while laughing a bit. (BTW these are stories I saw on videos and read online)
She let out a small laughing fit of her own as he ranted about some customers, "And how long have you been working here now?" She wiped her eyes as he let out a dramatic sigh, "About 3 weeks now, and I already want to quit, but I can't afford to." He made an exaggerated sad face, before laughing a little.
"Man, and I thought not leaving my place was tragic, but I do not envy you if those moments are consistent." She took a sip of her drink, "Luckily they aren't, but even those short moments make me want to scream in the backroom." He leaned back on the couch, looking at his watch, earning a little confused look on Y/n's face.
"Looks like my shift is over, which means," He stood up, "I'll be back after I clock out." He turned to go to the backroom, taking about a minute before he sat back next to her, "Now, where were we?"
